Great Battery Life/Rarely Drops Off z-Wave Network (Circumvention Provided)
I've been using 5 of these YRL226-ZW2-619 since 2021 with my VeraPlus z-Wave hub. Generally speaking the work great and are a nice improvement over the z-Wave 1 versions that I had been using for about 10 years in 3 different properties. The battery life seems to be much better with these z-Wave 2 versions, which was my main reason for upgrading (the batteries in my older units would die very quickly even when doing little/no polling). Anyhow my reason for posting today is to document a problem you may encounter, rarely (but twice now for me) a unit might stop communicating with your z-Wave hub - it may or may not display a red "P" on the upper right corner of the keypad when this happens, the unit will be fully functional from the keypad but you will be unable to poll it or control it via z-Wave. When this has happened for me on two different units I find that if you enter CONFIG mode on the keypad (touch your PIN and the gear symbol) and then choose Option 7 (wireless module configuration) if you see only Option 3 (Exit Network) don't select it - just let it timeout. That act of choosing Option 7 seems to "wakeup" the z-Wave module and shortly thereafter your hub will see it again (might be minutes, might take longer). I have no explanation WHY this works, but wanted to share with you that it does in case you encounter this problem Overall I still give them a solid 5 stars, this problem I described above has only happened on 2 out of 5 units over nearly 5 years now so I'd say it's "rare", and the fix is easy enough - Option 7 to "wakeup" the z-Wave module.

Steer clear of this one. This newer model is larger than the last one.
I ordered this to replace the exact same style lock by yale that failed after 6 years. Not a bad run on the old lock. worked well until a design flaw did the old one in. Seems the set screw on the inside handle, which puts tension on the retainers for the handle, worked its way loose and jammed against the locking button on the inside handle. This caused the lock to jam when using the automated functions. So I ordered what seemed to be the replacement, identical for the most part, same look , style etc. BUT and as others noted. the lock has grown another 1/4 to 1/2 inch in height which as others noted obstructs the dead bolt lock (the old one fit) .. Now I also noticed that yale renamed them from Yale real living to yale assure... (not sure why??).. In this world of amazing shrinking electronics it is odd Yale would build a lock bigger! Truly they make great locks but their design is just not practical. Item is going back.. and not fast enough.

Awesome so far
I love this lock and have had none of the issues reported by others so far. I had the lock installed by a locksmith as a replacement to another smart lock that never worked and locked us out. Because it was professionally installed, I didn’t have the installation concerns reported by others. The lock seems to function well every time. The voice prompts are helpful and it looks great in my door. My favorite thing is that it incorporated seamlessly with my alarm system (Vivint) so I have the ability to create smart actions that include other devices in my home. This gives it even greater functionality than just the device itself. Some have reported the lock stops working abruptly- as it is relatively new, I’ll have to wait and see if this happens. I want to get 2 additional ones for the other doors of my house, but given this concern, I’ll wait a few months. If it stops working at any point, I’ll update my review, but at this point it’s awesome!

A very nice Lever Smart lock
I've always used Schlage and Kwikset smart locks in the past. I was looking for an interior garage entry door Z-wave smart lock for our vacation property. I couldn't find anything I liked in either of the "other" brands, and stumbled upon the Yale. Right from the start I was very impressed with the quality and usability/design of the Yale Lever Smart Lock. Assembly seemed simple but I had a little trouble tightening the unit to the door. Once I got past that it was simple. Again, the quality and feel of this product is amazing. The way the lock functions is smooth and nice too. The only thing I can say, is with Zigbee and Z-wave, make sure you pair the unit before installing. I did not know this and now will have to get a very long ethernet cable to place by smart controller within 10ft of the door lock. Otherwise you cannot go wrong with this Yale smart lock! I will be buying another one of these units to replace a Kwikset I have at my primary home for the same purpose, my interior garage entry door.

Perfect lock if you need it to work for 6 months
Like the headline says, this lock worked great for 6 months, then it died. I reached out to the technical support office. [Side note: the email on the website is wrong, it bounces back as undeliverable.] All tech support would do is have me repeat the same incorrect functions to factory reset the lock. Nothing actually fixed the lock and every email contains the same instructions that I have already completed and told them. The lock thinks that it is jammed even when it is completely removed from the door and on my work bench. I am going to throw this lock in the dustbin where it belongs and find another option. I guess this company won into not honoring their warranty. Clearly an issue with the lock and they make it such a hard time to get replaced that I am just giving up. Sad to see that another company has gone so far downhill. I used to swear by Yale locks.

Great Ring functionality
Well built lever lock for interior doors that integrates with the Ring Security system so that unlimited users can be added to access lock on a per user setting and system can be automated to record video when lock is unlocked. Can see history of who unlocked it and when. Great for locking rooms with high $ equipment like servers, etc. PIN pad is glass and turns on when the Yale logo is touched. Very easy to use. Also has settings for autolock functionality after X seconds with a range to choose from. This version does not need Yale app to function as it comes with the Ring WiFi module. Ring app will detect the lock when phone/tablet is in range to add device like with any other Ring device.

Buyer Beware! Not as advertised!
The two stars is for the seller not the lock set! The door lock itself works great and was not too difficult to install. However, this vendor did not give a clear description of what they are selling you. It says the lock is Wi-Fi compatible, but the smart module that comes with this lock set does not allow it to be connected directly to your Wi-Fi nor to the Yale access app. I had to order the actual Yale Wi-Fi smart module to get this to work with the Yale app and subsequently sync it to Airbnb for an additional $80. Buyer beware this does not come as advertised. I suggest you find another listing that actually comes with the Yale smart module.

A few things you need to know.
First, This lock can be hacked with a paperclip and a screwdriver. If someone easily removes the outside handle, they are in. Second, Make sure you get one with a key backup. They are not bulletproof. Some models have no key. Third, After half an hour I could not get the Indore side of the lock to sit flat against the door and backing plate. Bad design. Fourth, Don't waste your time calling support if the zwave does not function as it should. They will not help you. Fifth, Alexa will not control this lock or scenes containing the lock. On the install, the lock paired with our Vera Plus controller but there was zero functionality. It was necessary to unpair and factory reset the lock before pairing it a second time. Once properly installed the lock did most everything we were looking forward to. It does have some weird features like requiring you to press the check key after entering your code. The design flaw that interferes with the indoor portion of the lock sitting flat against the door was disappointing. I spent a half hour messing with it trying to overcome this problem before it was obvious that someone needed to spend time on the CAD design. Three stars - It's not terrible, but it just seems like it was never completed with flaws resolved and adequate support for a product at this level.
