Is this item black in color? It is pictured white, but at the very end of the listing title is says "black". Please advise, thank you.

The item is white in color. The "-S" on the end of the part number indicates it is for WAC Line or Straight Edge products and includes a 6ft lead connection for those products. Other variations of this transformer are black and include lead wire connections for other products or none at all.

Are these dimmed by putting a dimmer that will control the receptacle they are plugged into?

Technically it is against electrical code to put a dimmer on a wall plug. The wall plug on dimmer it could cause a hazard if something like a vacuum or iron or charger or other appliance was plugged in. It could easily overload the dimmer causing a fire hazard or burn out the item plugged in, thus the code against it. The hard wired transformer is the best way to dim. But of course that is not a simple plug and play option. Proceed at your own risk.
