Great clock only two problems
This is a great clock. After five minutes it updated correctly but I did have to set the time zone. The battery backup is great if you have power outage. The clock is very bright but can be dimmed down at night. One problem is the display will randomly go blank however unplugging the clock and plugging it back in does fix it. Very disconcerting when you wake up in the middle of the night and check to see what the time is and the display is blank. The other problem is the alarm is so quiet I cannot hear it.Correction, discovered that when the clock is updating the display will go blank however after the clock is updated the display will come back on. Now the only problem is the quiet alarm.

I like it, but see photo
I like it, but there are two things you should be aware of. The first is the viewing angle- it is very good when your point of view is higher than the clock. However, if you are looking up at it it is dim and hard to read. I wanted this to replace an LED clock beside my bed, but the surface available is higher than my head, so I could not read it without sitting up. It would be nice if you could adjust the tilt, but it's fixed and pointing slightly up. The other is the "atomic clock" feature, I live on the west coast and it can only receive the signal at night, so expect that. If I plug it in during the day, it can't automatically set the time until some time after the sun goes down. The timing signal transmitter is near Denver, Colorado, so the closer you are the stronger the signal. At night it travels farther. It is not usable in my bedroom situation, but I have it in my great room, and it's nice to have a clock I don't have to set. I have backup batteries in it, so if the power fails or I move it to another outlet it keeps the time. I'll post a photo showing the difference the viewing angle makes.

Great features, if they actually worked
I bought 2 of these. Feedback based on that fact. First one, I learned the dimming feature (3 levels that control brightness via dimmer button) did not work properly. Clock would stay well lit for about a day and then change on its own to the lowest setting where clock was unreadable (screen seemed black). The dimmer button would not work to change it back. It remained dark and unreadable. Despite resetting the clock and pulling the electric plug to restart, nothing worked to reset/restore to the brightness setting.I liked the features and the size and look of clock enough to try again with a new one, so I bought a 2nd one. (I thought the defects of 1st one was an anomaly, but I was mistaken). The new one was worse. Out of the box, it looked used. It had dings and scratches on the plastic the way a plastic item gets if it has been dropped or smacked around. I didn’t like it, but I could have lived with dings if the clock worked right. But it not only had the same defect with the brightness and dimmer button as the first purchase did, but the time setting functions locked up while setting it and wouldn’t release. I couldn’t even complete the clock set up. Truly unacceptable, especially from the Sharp brand.Don’t waste your money on this one. Function and size of clock would be great, if they actually worked, but they do not.I bought another brand (Baldr) to replace 2nd clock and it seems to be working without issue, so far.

This clock must be placed in a location BELOW your eye level for readability.
This is a very nice looking Atomic Clock, but it has one major flaw. It appears that the designers meant this clock to be used on a bed side table, or any counter-top or shelf that is LOWER than eye level. The digits are very easy to read if you are viewing the clock while standing 'above' the clock's level. Once your viewing angle (eye level) is SLIGHTLY below the height of the clock, the readability of digits and text on the face of the clock degrades. The lower your eye level is below the position of the clock, the harder it is to read the clock. If the clock is just 6 inches above eye level, readability is dramatically degraded.I compared this clock to two other digital Atomic Clocks I have. Both do NOT have this problem, whether your eye level is above or below the clock. Both are currently wall-mounted above eye level, readability is excellent. I then placed both my Atomic Clocks on a table far below eye level and readability was also excellent. I suspect the problem with this SHARP clock is that the digits are lighted and can only be read from above. The engineers at SHARP can create an electronic switch (settable by the consumer) that will allow the clock's display to be read from above or below by changing the angle of the LCD's crystals.I intended on placing this clock on a top shelf of a bookcase in my living room. That is not possible. Now, I must put it on a shelf that is only 32" high off the floor level so it can be easily read while standing or sitting on the couch. I will not return the clock because it is a nice clock when used as it is designed, but sadly, the design flaw is so critical, it only gets 3-stars.

Nice Clock, But Be Mindful of Placement
Good size, good information, fairly easy to set up. I like that it shows the full date along with the day of the week. I have two appliances in the kitchen that display the time but none with the date. It has a nice thin sleek look which is appealing also. I wanted a not too small but not too large clock for my kitchen counter just as an informational decor piece and this one works perfectly. One thing though, before purchasing, I read reviews that stated if you are looking up at the clock from a bed side table the numbers aren't as apparent as looking at it from above the clock or straight on. And that is 100% correct. I did test it looking up at it from below and the digital info did not come thru as well. However, It works for me because I bought the clock to use only on my kitchen counter and I am looking down at it. So I did not take an additional star off of the review. I would recommend this clock as long as you are mindful of the placement and locate it where you will be looking down at it or straight on.

Works great
Sometimes a regular alarm clock just works better than your phone. I use to set 4-5 alarms every morning to wake up with my phone. This thing is just annoying enough to get me up with one alarm and not have to hit the snooze
