Quality agressive bit.
I used this bit to drill through 4x4 post so I could slide a line post (1-5/8" dia) through as a handrail for some outdoor steps. After reading a couple of reviews recommending using a corded drill, I decided to try a cordless anyway. I went through 3 lithium batteries after only 2 holes. This bit is very aggressive. I concur with others, use a powerful corded drill with 1/2 Chuck. The shaft on bit is 7/16 " so it will not fit a 3/8 " Chuck. Once I switched to a corded drill , life got much easier. Left a very smooth hole and a clean break through. I highly recommend this bit.

A joy to use.
This bit is a great time saver if you have a drill that is powerful enough. I used a Milwaukee right angle power drill with 1/2" chuck to drill thru two stacked 2x10s. I even hit a nail, it went right thru it without damage to the bit. Because of the great torque requirement it may be un-save to us this bit while standing on a ladder. Not suitable for battery operated hand drills.

Perfect bit but soft
This was the perfect bit I needed to drill large holes for a heavy cable run when installing my new home generator. The bit cut through effortlessly for the first couple of holes, but seemed to dull very quickly where I had to push very hard to finish the last couple of holes. I do not think I hit any nails or other metal, but that may have happened without me knowing it. Also when drilling particle board the small pieces can become embedded on the cutting edges and riding around preventing the drill bit from cutting. All in all unless you have many large holes to drill this one will do the job.

worked great
Bought this for my step-daughter's wedding - made 150 candle holders out of birch logs. Used this to drill a hole in the top of each to fit a tea light. Only needed two bits to make them, and that was mostly so that we could have two drills going at the same time. Cheaper to purchase here than at Lowes by almost $10 each.

It's great now, but out of the box it was so dull it wouldn't bore into white pine. had to spend an hour with a small diamond stone to sharpen the cutting edges to an edge good enough for it to self feed.

Works as designed, quality bit.
I purchased this bit to bore through 5" pressure treated landscape timbers. I used a 1/2" drive electric drill with a side stabilizing handle. This bit cleanly chews through this pine material without any problems. Given the high rosin content, I occasionally had to withdraw and tap the bit to clear the chips that had adhered to the auger tip.

Aggressive Cutting
I used this bit to bore deep holes into pressure treated timbers. It worked very well. The cutting action is aggressive but still left a relatively clean hole. I used both a power drill and a hand brace to bore the holes. When using a power drill I found that removing the centering drive screw from the bit reduced the aggressiveness a bit and made the cutting action finer/smoother. When using a hand brace, I found that putting the drive screw back into the bit improved the cutting action. Thus, having the option to have the centering drive screw either in place or removed was a beneficial feature.
