Great value for the quality of chisels you get!
I happen to love these chisels I got! I am elated to get a drop-forged set of CR-V steel chisels of this type steel, and quality. I for one don’t have the extra $150.00 to $200.00 pulse dollars to put-out on chisels having essentially the same type drop-forged heat treated steel, that may be in a housed in a fancier box. I am certainly not buying them for the box. I am purchasing them primarily for the type of steel they are made from and the fact they are said to be drop-forged. I find the quality I received them in to be quite nice! My next most important desire is functionality, followed by thickness, flatness, finish of the steel, and their weight. These seem adequately sharp from the manufacturer. However, most all cutting instruments, especially of this type, can use that extra special touch when it comes to sharpness. Sharpening for most people is a very personal matter anyway isn’t it? Now, when it comes to accuracy, that is primarily in the hands, and skill, of the user — now isn’t it? As to their finished size they seem spot on!

You get far more than you pay for!
These are the best value in chisels that I have ever had. The chisels arrived well packaged, and appeared to be of good quality. After unpacking , I began the task of flattening them, and to my surprise, it took no more than 5 minutes each. Each chisel polished to a mirror finish on its back, with minimal effort, and time. They were just as easy to get a razor sharp edge. I haven't had occasion to use them on anything other than yellow pine and walnut, but they have retained their edge as well as any others that I own. I suspect that they will not hold that edge quite as long as a top of the line, top dollar chisel, but for the money, and ease of sharpening, they can't be beaten. At 16 dollars for the entire set, I can happily sharpen a bit more frequently, and do without the coronary when one decides to roll off of my bench. Overall, they are also a pretty good looking set of chisels with decent ergonomics. If I could have one wish, it would have been nice to have had some leather caps on the bald headed end, to deaden some of the noise from the blows. This is just a great set of chisels, for very little money. UPDATE: After having more time with these, I have noticed that the steel does not hold an edge as well as I would prefer. I have been using them in some older, yellow pine that is peppered with hard, dense knots. I mentioned the fact that the pine is older yellow pine out of fairness. Yellow pine seems to gain a great deal of density, and the knots harden with age, as well as the fact that yellow pine contains a great deal of silica. None of those factors are friendly to a fine steel edge. In honesty, I don't believe that even the finest steel would hold up in that environment, but I mention it to give an honest and concise review. The down side is that the worst damage was very small chips on the edge, after using them with a mallet against the knots. Now, the redemption is the fact that the steel isn't hard enough to make removing the damage a chore. I was able to remove all damage with100 strokes on my 1000 grit diamond stone, and return to a razor sharp edge with another 100 on my 2000 grit, finalized with 30 strokes on my strop. All in all, the total process took less than 10 minutes. I still believe that, for the money, you couldn't ask for a better set of chisels. They would make an excellent purchase for someone that is just starting out, or like myself that just likes to have another set on hand for convenience. I am still thrilled with them, and would not hesitate to buy them again.

Decent Starter Set or Carpenter/Garage Set
I’ve had mine now for well over a year and use them exclusively for having a cheap chisel that I can manipulate the primary bevel for situational purposes like building outdoors or addressing softwoods. I’ve had the bevel as soon as 17° for use in pine/cedar or squared the end off a bit to use as a scraper. These don’t compare to my Veritas or Lie Nielsen’s, but are a great set for someone starting out in woodworking on a budget and maybe not certain they’ll really get in deep quite yet, or they make a great set for general homeowner use, also good as a traveling set for vacation/etc. When buying chisels, you are paying primarily for two things: the quality/temper of the steel and the degree to which they are finished/lapped. These are a cheap set that a new comer can put energy into while learning a lot and also make a great tool to learn freehand sharpening with since they take an edge quickly and so you’re not spoiling the steel on your PMV11 Veritas or Richter Narex; also too, it’s far easier to learn on this CR-V steel than on the A2 steel you’ll encounter with Lie Nielsen and Stanley Sweethearts which take so much more to remove steel from. Highly recommend for new wood workers and as a utility set for learning and meeting situational uses like outdoor or super soft woods which won’t play well with the typical 25-30° bevel you normally use on your better chisels.

Don't hesitate to buy these
I would normally never buy such cheap Chisels. For one, i already have several sets of very good Chisels that I would not swap over for almost any other set. And the other, if you take your woodworking somewhat seriously, who would ever bother with a $12 set of Chisels? Well, I needed several sets for an upcoming woodworking class I'll be giving and decided to buy one set just to give it a try. At this price point I was betting that the temperature or hardening was not done right which is why they were so cheap rendering the Chisels not only poor but useless. Well, it turns out they hold an edge just fine and the back needed very little time on the stones. Based on the ones I ordered I would not hesitate to recommend these Chisels. They are good Chisels in every aspect. They are not perfect as the sidewalls aren't ground near to the back but you can't gripe when these Chisels are offered at this price.

Great value
This is a bit long because I want to add some context The first woodworking chisel I purchased was a Narex Richter extra bevel edge chisel. I only bought the 1/2" size for $46. I wanted to get one before investing in more. I like this chisel very much. It's excellent for many reasons. Then I bought the 4 piece Narex Profi bevel edge chisel set for around $50. This set came with a weird coating that was difficult to get off during the sharpening process. BTW, all chisels need to be sharpened upon arrival if you want to get a super sharp edge for woodworking. The Narex chisels work great after sharpening and seem to hold their edge well. So on to this set. I bought it on a whim. German, only $14, I figured I'd take a flyer. Worse case, I'd have a set of "I don't care" chisels to do more coarse work. The handles are smaller than the Narex chisels. So far, not a problem. I wanted to try a set with smaller handles to determine a preference. Unlike the Narex chisel set (not the Richter), this set did not have a coating on the chisel and the back seemed reasonably flat and the edge decently sharp. A good starting place to begin the flattening and sharpening process. The backs of all the chisels took a while and I started with 150 grit sandpaper on an MDF board. Then moved to a 300 grit diamond stone and finally a 1000 grit diamond stone. I'd say the work involved was much less than the Narex set and the same as the Richter chisel. Once the back was flat I put a secondary bevel on at 30 degrees. I used a Lie Nielsen honing jig to help. For the 1/4" chisel, I had to do it free hand. I started at 1000 grit diamond stone, got a bur, then moved to an 8000 grit wet sandpaper and finished all with a strop. It didn't take very much time at all to establish a razor sharp edge. The edge cut paper quite well. For $14, I'm quite pleased. I don't know how well they will hold the edge during use, but it only takes minutes to resharpen, so If your looking for an inexpensive woodworking chisel set, I recommend giving these a try.

Amazing Quality, Especially for Price
I’m amazed at the quantity at the price of these firmer chisels. If they offered a set in 1/8”, 3/8”, 5/8” and 7/8”, I would buy them.

Will not hold an edge.
If these chisels were even 5 dollars more, I would drop the review a start. These are fine for a beginner or if you are on a tight budget. They arrive sharp and they sharpen easily which is why they get 5 stars. However they do not retain an edge after more than a few cuts. Yes, they sharpen easily but you still don't want to stop your work and go get out your sharpening system every few cuts. The steel used is obviously cheap otherwise it would not be feasible to sell them at such a low price point. You get what you pay for here. They will work, but you will tire of them dulling so quickly.
