Hasbro Gaming Monopoly Junior Board Game for Kids Ages 5 and Up, 2-4 Players, Family Games

I bought this for my 5 yr old granddaughter. It is fun and very easy for her age group to play and enjoy. She loves being the banker! It is that easy to play that even a 5 yr old can be the Banker. I highly recommend for game nights with younger children. Not only is it fun but it also helps the younger ones to learn math skills.

I love playing board games with my kids (8 and 5), but too many board games are too complex or take too long (which causes them to lose interest). Hasbro has done an excellent job of taking a classic board game and bringing it down to a kid's level without losing what makes the original fun. I played it with my 5-year-old daughter the other day and we had a blast. Even I didn't get board from playing a "kid's game" which is an added bonus. The essence of Monopoly is still there. You move around the board. You buy spaces. You collect rent...you go directly to jail sometimes...but the details have been toned back. Money has been reduced to dollar bills and everything costs a few dollars - so kids can work on learning counting as they play and it makes them proud to feel that they're actually "playing" and not having an adult to it for them. The games last just the right amount of time. We're not talking marathon Monopoly games - 15/20 minutes per game. I enjoyed it. I think it will be a staple of family game night until they're both ready to move on up to regular Monopoly!

I bought this as a gift for my 8 y/o and 4 y/o granddaughters. One side is for the younger players, and the other side is for a little older players, which is a great way to design a board game! The 4 y/o loved playing so we played the easy side most, but we did play the other side with the 8 y/o a few times and she prefers that side! Good product.

I bought this for my 6-year-old daughter and 3-year-old son. This is different than the Monopoly Junior I remember playing as a child. At some point they changed this game so it only includes single Monopoly dollars ($1). It is a great concept for small children. My son is learning to count things so he is able to help count out the single bills. My daughter is learning basic addition and subtraction, which makes this a little below her learning level, but we are still able to incorporate some math learning into the game for her. -Each player starts with Monopoly dollars (MD) based on the number of players; 2 players start with 20 MD, 3 players start with 18 MD, 4 players start with 16 MD. The game comes with 90 MD total. -If a space is available to purchase when you land on it, you must purchase it; if it is owned you pay rent. If two properties of the same color are owned by the same player, then you pay double the rent. -There are no houses or hotels. You simply mark a property you purchased with a token that is the same character as your game character. -When a player runs out of money (does not have enough money to buy a property, pay rent, pay a Chance card fee, or pay the get out of jail fee) the game is over; the person with the most money wins. -There are 16 properties; ranging in price of 1MD to 5MD as follows: 4 properties for 1MD, 4 for 2MD, 4 for 3MD, 2 for 4MD, and 2 for 5MD. -The 4 Chance spaces are the same concept as original Monopoly; with the Chance cards being very similar to the original game as well. Some require you to pay a fine, some require the other players to pay a fine. Some cards offer a player a property for free or requires you pay rent if the property is already owned. Other cards do not have any monetary transactions (get out of jail free, for example). -The 4 corners spaces are the same as original Monopoly (GO, Jail, Free Parking and Go to Jail). When you pass GO you receive 2MD. If you land on Jail (just visiting) there is no money exchanged. The Free Parking space does not have a "jackpot" or any other money associated with it. The Go To Jail space requires you pay 1MD on your next turn to get out of jail. -Advanced Option offers an alternate rule once the players have "mastered" the standard rules. This allows a player to use property they own to pay off debt for rent or a Chance card fine. If you owe a player, then the property becomes theirs; if you owe the bank, the property goes back on the market available for the next player that lands on it to buy it. The way the rules are setup, with the amount of MD each player starts with, the money does not last very long. This makes for a short game. I think we made it around the board almost twice the first time we played the game as a family of 4. This is good for young children that have a short attention span; like my 3yo. However, my 6yo was upset the game was already over. The second time we played the game, we played with 4 players and started each player with 20MD instead of 16MD. We were hoping it would help lengthen the game a bit, but it didn't make much of a difference. Since the game only comes with 90MD, you cannot really start with more than 20MD in order for the bank to still have funds. I think this game is a great starter game for children that struggle with Monopoly or have trouble sitting through a whole game. The standard rules require everyone to make the same choices. The game is won by luck of the roll instead of strategy, which makes the game equal to all age groups. If you are playing with younger children, I would say this is a great place to start and is worth purchasing. As your children grow, you can incorporate the "advanced rule" or slowly incorporate rules from the original game until your kids are ready to play the original. If your child already has a basic understanding of Monopoly, then I would recommend playing the original game with less complex rules and implementing rules as your child grows, instead of buying this version. This version does not allow for your child to learn the concept of strategy unless you alter the rules; which you could do with the original game that you probably already own. The "advanced rule" option doesn't add enough to the game to make this game a worthwhile purchase for older kids. Personally, if both of my children were over the age of 5, I would have been very disappointed with this game.

My little tycoon found a game he can win with some forethought and planning - and despite our best efforts, he usually does win!! This game is great for counting - both in moving the pieces by die rolls and in paying for properties. It's also been great for simple math - if you own both properties then rent is doubled. Or 3+3, 2+2 etc. Great for emerging mathematicians! Fun, fast paced, usually a pretty quick game - this game is good for a wide range of ages. Our son is 4 and LOVES it - I can see this game lasting until he's 9 or 10 without losing it's spark. And I also love that we can tie it in later with the grown up version of Monopoly and he will have a great base for learning that game. This game is a top choice in our home - I highly recommend it for kids ages 4 (if they have a decent attention span) up to age 10 or so. We love playing it as well, it's not a dull game!

Fun and easy to learn, my almost 4 year old was able to play even though it says 5+ The rules are simple and the play time is enough but not so much that you lose the kids’ attention…not that was a problem anyway because my little ones asked for more after the game was over! If you’re into board games and want to includ the younger ones, this is definitely one to add to the collection!

This is perfect for a 4 and 7 year old to start out. It is called 'junior' so yes it's not going to last 2 hours and have lots of layers, I think that's the point. It's a simple game for my 7 y.o. and after playing this I now want to buy the original for him and I to play for a more advanced game, but this game is great because my 4 y.o. can also play. Some games have been quick and one game with my son lasted about an hour with neither one of us being able to get rid of our money (which ends the game) so he became tired of it (it was also getting late), but it is called 'junior' so keep that in mind. For the most part games are about 20 mins. If you have children 7+ then I would suggest getting the original, but I think even with that one my 7 y.o. might get bored of it if it takes too long.

Don’t know why Amazon allow this shop sell the stuff like this. This is a fake low quality monopoly.

Cheaper than retail. Game rules are too simple for a 5 year old who got bored very quickly. Should've bought the normal instead of Junior version.

El juego es perfecto para que los niños empiecen a jugar monopoly, muy sencillo y muy bonito, sólo hay un detalle que quiero mencionar, ya que no lo dice en el título del artículo y si no te fijas bien en las imágenes te puede pasar lo mismo que a mi. El juego está en INGLES, sólo para que lo tengan en cuenta.

My 5-year-old loves this game, and we like playing it with her! It's easy for her to understand, and doesn't take too long to play. Once she really gets the swing of it, there's a way to make it a bit more complicated.

Excelente calidad, nada más que no especifican que es la versión en inglés. Pero sirve para practicar con los niños
