Worth Having
I had one of these as a kid, a gift from an elementary school teacher. It was a great tool. I was able to locate and memorize just about all the constellations. My old chart is long gone but this one makes a good replacement.

INCLUDES MANY MESSIER OBJECTS!
I am very satisfied with this planisphere. I have been using another planisphere (almost equally good) for many years but it lacked Messier Objects. With my grand daughter's birthday approaching, I ordered this planisphere for it's apparent quality. On the off-chance that it might include Messier Objects (this feature was not mentioned, so it was a gamble) I ordered a second one for myself. Much to my satisfaction, I was pleased to find that it DOES show many Messier Objects (not all, not M1), making it far superior to my earlier unit. By the way, if you are not already familiar with how planispheres are used, it is well worth it to take some time and get familiar with them. Once you are familiar, they are a snap to use and a lot of fun for planning a productive evening's veiwing ahead of time. --And this planisphere is a very good choice. (Now I would like to see a planisphere for Radio Sources).

Great observing aid
Great way to find the stars - without bulky books or electronic gadgets. The plastic coating is a mixed blessing. It protects your planisphere from the weather, but it glares. Take a good look at it indoors before you go out, for your time and direction. Then peek with red lights while observing. Get the BIG one - the small one is more portable, but the big planisphere is easier to find stars with.

Excellent star finder and planesphere
My students found this planesphere to be useful in star and constellation identification in my high school astronomy classes. It worked well in the planetarium's dome sky and in the actual night sky.

Night time fun.
This is the larger version of one that I've had for years. Now to find a clear night.

The protective sleeve was shredded
the protective sleeve was shredded, think of an LP inner paper sleeve that has burst through from too many thoughtless re-insertions of an LP. Maybe this was used? Also the detail wasn't what I had hoped for, looking for another solution.
