Organizationally Perfected
Since the Bible (my preference KJV) is 66 books grouped together by some chronology, but mostly similar types or dates, I wanted another way to read the Bible. So rather than, I'll call it, linear, as it is written, I purchased this one since it is chronological (as best it can be based on it and other sources. Take a book like Psalms. It was not written at one time, rather over a period of time as events occurred and by several writers. In this Bible, it is spread out at / about the time of the events, so the psalms have special meaning as it is associated with the event. I don't travel with it because it is rather large, but it is a great study bible before Bible Study or Church (or even after if there is some reference I need to explore). And at the top, you can keep track of the time period you are reading. And there are pictures, notes, timelines and maps and charts inserted to make an improved learning experience. It's all in one place, organized as perfectly as it can be.

Great study tool
I have purchased several of these Bibles as gifts. There is so much information as far as maps, charts and study notes. The chronological order helps you learn the stories in a new light, especially the Gospels. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a new perspective on the Bible.

Helps me to understand!
I LOVE the little maps and explanations of the Bible story as I read! Having maps to show me what the landscape looked like as people journeyed is *so helpful* to my learning and understanding of what I'm reading! And the small explanations given throughout the stories helps me to understand what I'm reading even more! So much so that it makes me want to read more! And that's just what I need! ^_^ They also have this available on the Bible Tecarta app, so you can have it on your phone too! I love it! :D

Definitely one of my favorite Bibles. All the colored pictures and maps make the Word of God come to life, and the study notes help apply it to your life. There is also a timeline that shows what date the events occurred. The only problem I have is that the King James Version is harder to read due to the Archaic Language, but this is the first time I ever owned a KJV. I also didn't want the NLT because I heard it is a faulty translation. I wish they had NKJV, NASB, or NIV, but overall I am happy with what I have. I would recommend this Bible if you want to read it in Chronological order, and if you're used to the KJV you will love it.

If you love the Bible and enjoy the KJV, you will love owning the Chronological Life Application Study Bible (CLASB). In my opinion the only downsides are: 1) The KJV edition is only available in hardcover and has no ribbon marker. 2) Like the other editions it is a glued binding and not smyth-sewn, so it only lays flat when the pages are evenly distributed on both sides, so handle with care! 3) It does not include the cross-referencing system that is part of the original Life Application Study Bible (LASB). But if it came down to choosing one or the other, I would much prefer to have the CLASB. All things considered, this is a well-made, dependable study Bible. It features a gorgeous, beautifully-arranged, full-colour interior with vibrant, rich, colourful maps and photographs (frankly, I'm surprised how much colour the publishers can get onto a page without it bleeding through to the other side). The CLASB boasts a very dark and readable 9-point font for the KJV text, and a 7-point font for the study notes, all of which are line-matched. The words of Christ are NOT in red, which is a plus or a minus depending on your preference and point of view. It comes in a handy (and equally colourful) cardboard slipcase. Both the dust cover and the actual cover of the Bible have the same exact design, which I appreciate. If you plan on using this hardcover Bible regularly my recommendation would be to gently remove the dust cover and safely store it elsewhere. If you look at the photos I've uploaded you will notice many of the features inside. While it's convenient to own the Kindle edition, in my estimation nothing compares to holding this beautiful resource in your hands. Electronic resources are subject to change or being discontinued, but a print book can last for generations if handled properly. Features include: 1) A full-colour presentation page. 2) Preface to the Authorized KJV, Tyndale Paragraphed Edition, as well as the traditional Epistle Dedicatory for the Authorized KJV. Tyndale Publishers has graciously provided textual notes at the bottom of each page of the King James text that "offer immediate definitions for difficult or archaic English terminology, saving time for Bible study that might have been spent consulting an English dictionary" (p. A12, note L). In my opinion this is very helpful, and encourages those who are new to the KJV, or who might find reading it to be a challenge, to thoroughly enjoy the beauty of this beloved translation. 3) A canonical table of contents and chronological survey of the Bible. I appreciate the canoncial table of contents because it allows the reader to quickly locate passages in their canonical order. For example, Ezra 4:1-5 is found on p. 1110, but Ezra 4:6 is on p.1134 and Ezra 4:7-23 begins on p.1147. Remember that the purpose of the CLASB is not to read the Scriptures in canonical order, but chronological order (i.e., the order in which the events most likely took place). One could still read this Bible in regular order using the canonical table of contents, but it would require a lot of page-flipping. 4) A visual outline of all the interior features of the CLASB with explanations on how to use them: A - Chronological Header System, B - Outline, C - Notes, D - Maps, E - Illustrated Verses, F - Sectional Introductions, G - Timeline, H - Parallel Passages Indicator, I - Archaeological Notes, J - Charts and Diagrams, K - Personality Profiles, L - Textual Notes and Sectional Headings, M - Harmony of the Gospels, N - New Full-Color Illustrations. 5) Several excellent resources in the back, including "A Christian Worker's Resource," "The Bible Book-by-Book" (i.e., all 66 original book introductions to the LASB with the "blueprint" and "megathemes" for each book), and a "Master Index" to EVERYTHING in this Bible (page number, Scripture reference, etc.). Plus a separate "Features Index" to every chart, map, profile, archaeological note and illustration. The CLASB also comes with a generous Dictionary & Concordance, followed by 16 pages of full-colour Maps printed on a thicker, glossy paper. I like the Biblical Calendar included with the maps, how it explains the festivals of Israel and when they occur on our modern calendar. 6) I really enjoy the chronological format! The CLASB is divided into 10 historical eras or sections. So for example, when reading section 8 ("Return & Diaspora, 538-6 BC"), it begins with 2 Chronicles 36:22-23, followed by Ezra 1-2, then Psalms 126 & 147, followed by Ezra 3:1-4:5, then over to Daniel 10-12, and so on. It goes on to combine portions of Haggai, Zechariah, Esther, Ezra, Nehemiah, 1 Chronicles, Joel and Malachi. One gets a much better grasp and flow of biblical history reading the Bible this way. Each of the 10 historical eras begins with an introduction, timeline of biblical and world history, articles on the people and culture, as well as megathemes, maps, charts and archaeological notes and photos. Note that PARALLEL passages (e.g., those in Kings, Chronicles and the Prophets, or in the Gospels) are always indicated and placed together in their proper order. 7) On top of all this, the CLASB comes with the same, great life application study notes that are part and parcel of the LASB. Many of these notes are thought-provoking and spiritually enriching, and have proven at times to be extremely helpful when preparing for a Bible study or doing sermon prep. Why read chronologially? 1) It's a different approach to studying the Bible. 2) It helps the reader to connect the dots to the big picture of God's plan of redemption. 3) It enables the reader to better understand the inter-connection between books of the Bible, events of the Bible and characters of the Bible. For example, when and how do the psalms of David connect to the various points in his life? When in Israel's history did prophets like Isaiah, Jeremiah and Amos speak, to whom and in what context? How do the four Gospels differ yet complement one another in terms of their eyewitness accounts? When did the events recorded in the Gospels actually take place in the life of Jesus? When were Paul's epistles written, and how to they fit into the historical narrative of the early church as recorded in the book of Acts? Reading the Bible chronologically helps provide answers to these and many other kinds of questions, offering the reader greater clarity and insights into fascinating historical and theological details that may otherwise be overlooked, misunderstood or misapplied. Combined with all of the other extraordinary features in the CLASB, the reader is provided herein with a lifetime of helpful study resources for further reflection and discovery. So, for the price of a few Starbucks coffees you can have a very helpful and enjoyable Bible study tool in the palm of your hands, in the Authorized KJV. Or choose the New Living Translation. Either way, the CLASB is a world-class resource worth owning. So get it, enjoy it, and may the Lord bless you on your journey.
