This hair shaper is a standard for razor cuts so you should definitely have this if you plan to do razor cuts. It comes with three guards and one razor blade. The guards gives you options and you can choose how you want to texturize hair. You can also take the guard off and use this to line up edges. I’ve used other razor combs using double edge safety razors and the blade that came with this is definitely sharp so I use the same brand of razor blades too. What I like better about this hair shaper over razor combs is that the guard on this is like a comb on one side of the blade. It protects from the sharp blade but allows hair to fall easily and not get trapped. The razor combs I tried get hair trapped inside the comb so you have to open it up to clean out the hair. They both cut hair but this is much easier to use because hair doesn’t get clogged up inside. Another benefit is that you can use this without the guard to shave like a straight razor. I like using straight razors and this one definitely gives a nice clean shave with disposable blades. The blades are not as cheap as double edge blades but this hair shaper is definitely worth having in the tool kit.

Love that this comes with guards which comes in handy when cutting my son's hair. Great for trimming up around the back of the neck. Great price.

I've had a Diane hair shaper before and it worked well, but I dropped it and the black plastic finger balancer broke off. That made it hard to use. I bought two others, but I didn't like the way they felt, so I got another Diane and will try not to drop it. that's why I only gave it 4 stars. That little black part is breakable.

This item met all of our expectations. My wife has cut my hair, and our three boys’ hair, for 20+ years now. She had inherited a like item from her mother years ago. This one is every bit as good as the one we had lost. Great product, and perfect for DIY hair stylists at home.

I should have expected this to not be very good considering how cheap it was. It literally nearly folded in half just by me trying to open the package it came in. My husband was able to bend it back and I still tried to use it and it just wasn’t sharp and not worth it. I threw it straight in the trash. I hate to write bad reviews but this was just a terrible product.

This thing is cheap because well it’d cheap. It’s a rivet instead of a screw so if your is too tight like mine you are screwed. I imagine it will loosen up eventually, but when it’s too loose I will be screwed again. The alignment is way off which makes it even more difficult to open and closed. Replacing the blades and guards is actually pretty easy and quick, and they seem to stay in place. All in all it will do what you need it to, but might be worth spending $10 more of you are a professional and getting something a little better.

Really happy with this purchase. I was reluctant as I didn’t recognize the name “Diane”. I am not a professional but have cut my own hair for about 30 years. I also own a Pirouette blade with multiple guards as well as a Fromm. This Diane blade is identical to my Fromm (apparently manufactured by Fromm). I dislike the pirouette because the guards literally fall off the blade even if you just hold the razor vertically. The Fromm also has slippage issues (I even intentionally bent the guard on the Fromm to keep it from sliding off). I wanted additional guards, and that’s why I bought this Diane. Super happy with the purchase. Worked beautifully. Hair looks good enough that my husband is considering letting me cut his (during the pandemic).

I literaly used it for 5 or 6 strokes and the blade is already dull, no exageration whatsoever.

Feels sturdy and is sharp. Very nice product for the price. Will buy again!
