Full Disclosure Below
Full disclosure, I am of English heritage. Grew up in England and black pudding was always a favorite of mine on occasion. But this is not the same as English black pudding. Why heck you say, why did you buy it then? Well, I thought it would be the same. To be honest (and i have been to Ireland several times) I don't know what Irish black pudding looks, tastes or feels like. Thought it would be the same, but alas not. This version is much smaller for one thing. English BP is a good 2 1/2" even 3" in diameter. This version has a very small diameter, maybe 1 1/2". No big deal right? but for me, not the same. Then there is the color and taste. English BP is much darker and tastes quite a bit different as it has a much stronger flavor. However, I will say this Irish version has a nice taste and a particularly nice aftertaste. It's just different from what I know as Black Pudding flavor. I gave it 4 stars, it is probably excellent if this is what Irish BP looks and tastes like. I was disappointed in the size especially as it relates to the cost. I mean, you know you are going to pay for one off unique products like this - right. Sure, but the small diameter of this product left me feeling a bit ripped off. Guess I should have read the product specs better. My bad, but won't be buying again. UPDATE: over time I have really grown to like this sausage, black pudding, blood pudding. Whatever you want to call it. It has a very unique and great flavor. I am planning on ordering another batch. Now 5 stars. Excellent.

Authentic blood sausage
When I travelled to Scotland a few years back I wanted to try every local culinary delicacy and I just had to have the blood pudding (blood sausage). It was simply wonderful. It had a deep umami flavor with a bit of spice. Since then I’d been craving it and it’s hard to come by in America. When I came across this I had to give it a whirl. It seemed a bit pricey and i would’ve been quite put out if it didn’t meet my memorable standard. However I was not disappointed in the slightest. It comes with cold packs and there’s A LOT of sausage included. Like. A lot! Of course I immediately made it for breakfast and I was taken back to Scotland. It’s genuine, legit blood sausage. The deep meaty flavors are there with that spice and umami enveloping my taste buds. Because there was so much I decided to freeze a few rolls. Even after they’re thawed and cooked again it doesn’t reduce the quality whatsoever. I give this product 5 stars because when I need to reorder there’s very little likelihood I’ll be looking anywhere else. This is a definite must to add to your diet.

Oh, so gooood!!!!
Since amazon does not have the german 'geier' blood sausage anymore I was looking for a substitute before making my own. I had heard of blood pudding before but the name sounds just strange to me. Pudding is SWEET. Right? But guess what, it's real savory blood sausage and it's very very good. Little peppery maybe but delicious! Shipping is high but lightening fast. The ice packs were still frozen when the package arrived. If you miss german blood sausage give this a try. It's totally worth it.

Quality superb, price needs work.
Could do with being a little cheaper, at $10 per sausage it's kind of expensive for what was originally a super-cheap food that was made by using up otherwise-useless blood from animal slaughtering ( hence 4/5 stars ), but no issue whatsoever with the product itself. Oddly, unlike most black-pudding that you get in the UK and Ireland, this one is actually spicy, or at least highly seasoned/peppered. Unusual, but still very nice. Would eat it daily if it was cheaper.

Not much blood
For my fellow vampires, or Swedish immigrants, this is not blodpudding. Not sure how much blood is in this thing, main ingredient is pork, oats then 3rd or 4th place comes beef blood. Anyway it was tasty. Overpriced? 8 pieces for 80 bucks, oooh yea $$$. But I needed the nostalgia trip from my blood pudding lunches back in elementary school

At Last !
The last black pudding I tried was just OK. Right texture, but so bland I resorted to mashing it up in order to add my own seasonings (i.e. salt and pepper). Also, shipping costs were about double the price of the product. The Donnelly product is perfect for texture and for seasonings; one is left with a delicate peppery aftertaste. And, of course, shipping is free. I have fried it as part of the kind of breakfast I used to know and love, but this lunchtime, along with a bagel and cream cheese, I added a few slices of the b.p. which I heated for thirty seconds in the microwave. It was so good, a kind of Celtic pate, that I was inspired to sit down and share my enthusiasm immediately.
