Simple install, holds riflescope steady, have never lost zero. It's perfect. I also have a Monstrum, which is a lot cheaper, but that was terrible. Vortex seems to have the best quality for the price (even though its more, it's worth it).

This is as a precision scope mount as you can get. I would put it up against anything in the marketplace that costs many more times as the price of this one. Hey, these things are not cheap but look at what we ask of them - secure an expensive scope to the top rail absorbing recoil energy, knocking up against brush during a hunt, in then out, in then out, from the case - your scope can't shift so these things have to be 100% at all times and this one is! Machined finely to the highest order(the fit will attest to that), immaculate finish, just a well made, precision mount. Do not over torque the screws - bad day. I always tighten to just 5 under the recommended torque spec for assurance. Plenty tight and I haven't stripped a screw yet. Remember, a steel screw into an aluminum body, bad things can happen. This piece, 5 Gold all day because of it's precise manufacturing.

Been using this for a few years now. Worked great on a couple different set ups. Hopefully will be able to continue to use this for a lifetime.

I was really excited to order this mount. It has lots of good reviews and I figured it would be a good match for my vortex scope. When I inspected it carefully upon arrival, I noticed that it has several dings/scratches on it. In some places it's just a dent, but in several places the finish is scratched off and I can see the shiny metal. I posted a picture of one of the scratches as an example. I know I'm probably being petty, and that these scratches are cosmetic and won't affect function. At the same time though, I wonder if I received someone else's used/returned mount. I worry that a previous owner may have overtorqued the screws, etc. Maybe the scratches came from the factory (made in China), where the finished pieces are tossed into a bin awaiting final assembly. I hope they don't do this at the factory, because a dent on the edge of a ring could deform it enough to scratch the scope. Either way, the damaged finish has made me less happy with my purchase, and wondering if I should have gone with the big L... UPDATE: I've now had the mount for a couple months, and have taken it to the range a few times. When I initially went to zero the scope, I was pleasantly surprised to find that it didn't need ANY horizontal adjustment, just a few clicks of vertical. This shows good machining, and a good fit between the scope/rings. It has also held zero through several hundred rounds, so it appears that my issues were strictly cosmetic. One tip for those installing their scope: some auto parts stores will rent you a torque screwdriver that goes down to 15 inch pounds (not foot pounds). This way you can install with the proper torque consistently and not have to buy the tool yourself. Vortex has a great video on their website about how to properly install a scope.
