FAX-575 Personal Fax, Phone, and Copier

If you need a good little fax machine, this IS the one! easy to use, fast set up and no hassles. The first thing that grabs you about this little fax machine is the price. Sure the sound of the phone is a little tiny bit fuzzy, but that's it! If your gonna spend a lot of time on the phone, BUY a good phone! but if your gonna use this little sucker for faxing...It's a great deal! The second thing that grabs you is the size...Perfect for a busy desktop, just the right size to tuck away in a corner or on a small phone stand. The power cord is built right in, no bulky a/c adapter to lose or block up other plugs in outlets. The third thing that's the kicker is the design, its a little flashy for its price, looks good and functions extremely well. You won't believe all the functions! I can't believe how easy this is to use. For a basic fax you insert paper(s), type the number, and push Start Fax. It does the rest on its own and prints a verification page afterwards. It only took maybe 10 minutes to set up, and that's with reading the manual. Its footprint is small, about 12"Wide x 8"Deep so it fits on a counter or desk top easily. I have it right next to my cordless phone's base unit and dsl modem. Because my phone has an answering machine built in I had to disconnect the phone from the wall jack and insert it into the fax machine so it knew to answer calls. When the answering machine picks up, it "listens" for a fax tone and if it hears one, it'll automatically receive, then print, the fax. If it doesn't hear one, it does nothing. Handy for when I get a fax if I'm not home! The warranty registration doubles as a test fax, which was wonderful because I had no way to really test it otherwise. I tested the copy function and it copied pretty quickly, took only seconds for a fully printed sheet. The only issue I have, which isn't the machine's fault, is when i send double sided documents I have to be really quick to flip it over as soon as it processes the first side or wait and put it as the last page. That could be really confusing for the receiver, I imagine. I don't have a separate line for the fax, I use my own landline (house) number and it works just fine, as I don't expect to use it that often. I also have a cordless phone so I turned the ringer off on the machine's handset but it rings loudly if turned up and has an amplify feature which would be wonderful for hearing impaired people. Note: I noticed while it's receiving a fax it interferes with the DSL for a some seconds.

This fax machine is clearly designed for occasional use. It is very good quality and easy to set up. It produces decent quality faxes, it's compact so it takes up less than a square foot. I'm pleased with it for my intended use. It's my opinion that this would not hold up to daily use in a home office. But I think it's a great machine and a good buy. I paid $37.00 with shipping through J & R. It was delivered to my door 2 days after I ordered. Great service from J & R. The only complaint I have is the display. It is very small and difficult to see. An led to illuminate it would have been a good idea. When it's out of warranty I'll install one myself. I would definitely recommend it, for the occasional user.

Well mostly I got this because I needed a copier. It worked easily and without incidents. It is easy to assemble and the instructions are good. I have not used the fax part of the machine as yet, I have to get a distinctive ring first. Wow, an hour ago I had no idea what a distinguishing ring referred to, not anymore. The instructions answer all questions, trust me. The instruction manual answered questions that had yet to cross my mind. This was a good price and size for me, because I do not intend to use it much. But it sure makes me fell more secure having my own copier rather than using the library's.

I've been using this Brother 575 Fax/Copier for the past 6 months and it works great. Small and lightweight, it can be placed anywhere in the room without being connected to the computer and not take up a lot of space. As with the other reviewers, the unit is easy to set up and use.

As a small compact little fax, the Brother 575 gets the job done easily. Setup is smooth and the user interface, easy to follow. I've used an older chunkier version for years with much success but it finally gave up the ghost! I'm happy to find a reasonably priced compact version which is just as efficient as it's older predecessor. The TAD system works great and the print is perfectly suitable for home business use. Here's to another 10years of efficient faxing!

Unit was marketed as a personal fax, which Implies somewhat limited capacity. Within this level of expectation the unit performs quite well. Fairly straightforward to set up and program, and works well in sending and receiving faxes.

The Brother FAX-575 is a compact machine, works well, good value for the price. Received the fax machine in the time frame as advertised.

I bought this Fax machine, for home, because I thought it would be useful. The copier part got me. Sometimes I just need a copy of something. However, The deal breaker for me, once I unpacked it, was/is the User Guide. That's no 'guide' - it's a 150 page behemoth. Who is going to read 150 pages of instructions? I just wanted to plug it in and go. No fuss. No muss. No bother. Which is exactly what is doing. Nothing. Sitting there looking nice is all. Too intimidated, at age 75, with a sore brain, to sort it all out. Oh BROTHER, wherefore art thou?
