These hard crackers are longlasting, and as such are used during military campaigns in place of perishable foods. They are included in every military ration, and known as Panzerplatten - Armour Plates. The recipe and packaging of these German 'Panzerplatten' Crackers provide resistance to environmental influences such as humidity, heat, and cold. Ingredients: Soft wheat flour, sugar, partially hydrogenated sunflower fat, glucose, salt, raising agents: (sodium bicarbonate, ammonium bicarbonate, sodium metabisulfite). These Panzerplatten crackers are well known in Germany, both with civilians and servicemen. Review: Not Bad + Tasty 👍🍪 - Agree with several reviews here. These taste quite good; and do remind me of animal crackers -- a harder crunchy type. Will keep this item on my Subscribe-n-Save. Review: Almost 6 years later, my honest review. (pretty good) - Honestly, I bought these so many years ago, and when I started making my own, I forgot about them. However, recently I looked in my hardtack container and found one package of these remaining under my homemade pieces. I guess I was saving it for emergencies. Regardless, I want to give an honest review now that I've tried and made traditional hardtack. I enjoyed these. My packages were not broken and remained sealed; even the one that has been in the container all this time is in good condition. Unlike traditional hardtack (I've noticed), this product was dry but also easy on the teeth. The flavor reminded me of an animal cracker, but without the intense sugar. It's caloriedense, but I never really paid attention to that in the beginning. As for value for money, I'm kind of on the fence. On one hand, the product is already made, sealed, and ready whenever. On the other hand, for the same cost of the 4 packages, I could make more of my own than the 4 packages combined that last just as long (though I don't know about calorie count). I'm sure with enough digging, I could make something pretty similar in taste and hardness, but if you're someone who is getting into products like these but doesn't know how to make stuff like this, then go for it and purchase this because they're good. but also, look on youtube or forums, heck many books have their own recipes.

Suprisingly good!
I basically bought this on a silly "dare" to myself to see what they were like. These hard bread things were not bad! The taste I can get the closest to is a graham cracker, but not quite. They are pretty thick, about 1/4". They are very dry and very crunchy, so they're best eaten with some water or a drink like tea or coffee. The taste is cracker-like/bread-like so they can go with a lot of different things. I tried them with soup and that wasn't bad... in fact, it really filled me up because these crackers are concentrated survival bread. I would recommend these for hikers, boaters, survival kits, etc... They seem to be very effective for the purposes these breads were intended for.

They're good and filling! Add peanut butter or Nutella for better flavor.
Well, these were not as fresh nor were they vacuum sealed like the "Survivor" brand NATO biscuits, however, they were still fine to eat. They took a long time to arrive, but given the distance from which they came, I'll let that one slide. The expiration dates were a bit closer than I would have liked. In all, though, they were very good and filling. I highly recommend peanut butter on them. They make them just that much better! I imagine Nutella would be awesome too. These are VERY filling and great for survival rations or if your low on food and need lunch for work! YES! I recommend the product, but wish they'd get the vacuum sealed ones. These are good, but THOSE tasted like they were fresh from the factory!

These are actually great. Especially with coffee.
With every long term ration purchase, I like to try it before I buy a truckload and put them on the shelf. Truthfully, I was expecting cardboard with a hint of medium density fiberboard. What I tasted with a ever so slightly stale dense cracker that had a hint of sweetness. The texture landed somewhere in between a hard Teddy graham and a dense DiGiorno pizza dough (I know, random but its the closest parallel I could get to. Even made one to verify!). I broke the package open and was happy to see that the main large foil package had 4 sub packages inside it so it was easy to try one and save the other 3. Gave one to my wife, parents and dog and made them all try it. I only told them "Survival cracker" and after breaking into it they ALL had a surprised look and all said the same thing "Thats not bad!". I also tried dipping mine in my coffee and it softened it up considerably and was no problem to chomp through. My dog though - my dog was the most surprising of all. He is a 12 year old Corgi who has been spoiled his whole life and has turned into quite the picky treat eater in his old age. He will READILY refuse the basic Milk Bone biscuit and opts for things on the sweet spectrum. I gave him a chunk (they are easy enough to put in the palm of your hand, push in the middle of the cracker and get 4 equal sized pieces out of one) and he sniffed it. Gently took it. Put it down, nibbled and then grabbed the whole thing and wanted more. THAT was the biggest surprise: he absolutely LOVES them. So I drank some coffee and we ate biscuits for breakfast the next morning and I honestly enjoyed it. In a pinch, these would be easy to eat. You dont have to force them down like other calorie bars and they arent so hard that you'll break out fillings and crowns. If you dont like hard, then dip them in some milk, coffee or hot chocolate and they will soften right up and make it right easy to eat. Mine arrived with 3 years of shelf life from the day of receipt in early October 2024, which was perfect for my purposes and would easily keep for longer in a vacuum sealed bag. Buy with confidence knowing that they aren't like eating bark or MDF and are actually pretty OK plain and border on good with a cup of coffee.

German hardtack crackers
These are squarish crackers, that come about 12 to an individual package, with four packages to an order. The crackers are very good. They are somewhat like pilot bread, if you are familiar with those, but thicker, more substantive, more crunchy, and in my opinion better tasting. One package of crackers is filling enough for a meal if combined with some additions. I bought these for use in emergency packs, or camping, but they are so good I end up eating them as a snack or when I'm too lazy to prepare something else.

Shipped in a plastic bag now cushion, received just crumbled, broken and powder mess
This product is incredible, tastes great but Amazon logistics decided to ship an order of 4 in a loose plastic bag w no cushioning. The result is just 4 bags of crumbles and dust. Useless. Who ships crackers in a non cushioned plastic bag? Amazon needs to look at implementing either IQ tests or drug testing in their shipping department.

Pone bien claro en la descripción que son 4 paquetes de 125 gramos y ha llegado uno sólo, eso sí, volando. Tratar de vender a 5'75 algo que en asmc cuesta un euro es muy poco serio. Pediré reembolso a amazon.
