Kombuchaorganic® KOMBUCHA Tea CULTURE (Large SCOBY with Strong STARTER TEA - Makes 1 Gallon) by Kombuchaorganic®

I have bought this twice from the same company. Scoby are healthy and make great kombucha. Same with their milk kefir. Absolutely love it.

Decent size scoby and a small amount of liquid. I made my kombucha and the scoby is still in good health and I have a baby scoby too so all good. Good instructions came with it which was helpful for a beginner, I would recommend.

Good looking scoby it is square rather than round but that is fine says it makes 1 gallon but the instructions only make 2 LTRs but once again that is fine hopefully the scoby will grow well to make gallon batch the 2nd time around

Not a well shaped rounded square as they have pictured it, nor would I consider it huge. The scoby is a semi-square piece cut from a larger scoby. It was folded up and squished into two vacuum sealed plastic bags. Annoyingly the scoby remained folded when placed in my sweet tea. I would've preferred it to open up flat and probably would have if it wasn't folded when packed. The amount of 'strong starter tea' measured only 75mL. It might be enough if it's as 'strong' as advertised. The paper work indicated it was only suitable for a 2L batch. I'd expect a 'huge scoby' to deal with at least 4L on receipt. I'm disappointed with the misinformation in this listing and I'm sure it will grow to a 'huge scoby' eventually, but I bought it to use for a large batch now. Buy this 'huge scoby' but expect a medium/small or just buy a small one with the intent of growing it. I'm sure it still works. I'm just disappointed with the misleading description. Expectation vs reality... Update: Still worked fine, but also with a lesser quantity of sweet tea than I'd hoped to start brewing with from receipt. I left it with 2L of sweet tea for 4 weeks and I had strong vinegar/starter tea by the end of it. Some of that vinegar is now in a bottle for storage to rinse the vessel after cleaning and for making dressings. Some of the vinegar has been split between a couple of jars with sweet tea to grow back-up scobies. These are growing quite well and even after 3 days the pellicle formation is very noticeable. Still not happy about paying extra for a 'huge Scoby' that wasn't though.

Despite several attempts (I am an experienced kombucha home-brewer) this scobi is unable to successfully brew kombucha. The freshly made tea becomes cloudy within a short period of time (too much yeast growth) and the new scobi that develops at the top of the brew jar remains very thin. More like a 'veil' than a new scobi. The scobi's I have brewed with in the past have been thick and healthy, building up many layers over time. This scobi does not do this. The 'new' scobi's that have developed in the brews I have made with this, have been so thin that they could not hold their shape, even after several weeks of brewing. I do not think the scobi I was supplied was healthy or very lively. It may have been dormant for too long. When I wrote to the supplier about this they downplayed it on the basis that a 'new' scobi had grown, saying all was probably well. However, the new scobi was (and is) an ineffective film, rather than a robust culture. I would not buy this again and regard it as a waste of money.

Really good all worked fine. Had a couple of question further on and they answered all my questions really quickly. Nice to have that back up.

the scooby is not a large one and it's not for 7 l(1 gallon) but for 2 litre tea as per their instruction.

I have actually purchased two of these SCOBYs - one a single, and the other purchase was a set of two. They both came within days of ordering, in a sealed baggie with the SCOBY(s) in another sealed baggie. They came in a box, very sturdy to withstand shipping. There is enough starter Kombucha to get going on your first batch (might add 1/4 c vinegar to it to help the probiotics along). My first single SCOBY has been used for about five batches of black tea Kombucha now, and has generated at least one baby SCOBY. I continue to use the container as a continuous batch Kombucha, fomenting 5-7 days, and the Kombucha is wonderful every time. The double SCOBY came packaged in two different baggies, perfect to share! I used my second SCOBY to generate a batch of Jun, or green tea and honey Kombucha. The other in that set was given to a friend to start her own Kombucha. She was very happy with it. My second SCOBY has generated two batches Jun, and has also doubled and tripled in size. The SCOBY orders also came with a card with PoseyMom's website, which has very clear and good instructions on how to make Kombucha. If you follow them like I did, you should have a nice batch of Kombucha in a week or so after you start. You will need a gallon glass jar, coffee filter, large rubber band, tea bags, and sugar. I also store my Kombucha in quart mason jars (purchased separately) which are inexpensive and reusable. I used to make Kombucha a long time ago, and wanted to start up again. I know it's possible to make it from scratch, but I wanted a real SCOBY to use to start. If this is you, I would highly recommend PoseyMom's SCOBYs. They are healthy, clean, come within days. I have been very happy with my SCOBYs, and highly recommend PoseyMom!

Arnaque !!! Les descriptifs des souches et les photos sont mensongères. Plusieurs annonces de marque Kombucha Organique mais c'est toujours la même souche : carré très fine avec des trous et 3 cuillères à soupe de liquide de démarrage. Le poids total avec les deux sachets 124 grammes. La souche reste fine et môle ne petille pas (en comparaison avec les souches d'autres marques). Le thé de cette souche ne petille pas est très fades . Je voulais changer cette souche et après longue réflexion je croyais avoir fait le bon choix, mais j'ai reçu la même. J'ai souhaité retourner cette souche non ouverte, mais le vendeur n'a pas donné suite. J'ai commandé une autre souche de marque K......a , plus chère et la qualité n'a rien à voir et en plus une tasse bien pleine de liquide de démarrage. Si vous ne connaissez pas beaucoup les Kombucha ACHETEZ VOS SOUCHES CHEZ LES AUTRES PRODUCTEURS !!! Ne perdrez pas votre temps et votre argent. À gauche c'est la souche de Kombucha Organique, mise en production en septembre 2020. À droite une souche de KIRANDIA mise en production 20 novembre 2020. Pas de comparaison !!!

I would give it a zero star if I could. It arrived with a leaking bag and it is mouldy! I want a refund!
