PixInsight has taken the astro-imaging world by storm. As the first comprehensive postprocessing platform to be created by astro-imagers for astro-imagers, it has for many replaced other generic graphics editors as the software of choice. PixInsight has been embraced by professionals such as the James Webb (and Hubble) Space Telescope's science imager Joseph DePasquale and Calar Alto's Vicent Peris, as well as thousands of amateurs around the world. While PixInsight is extremely powerful, very little has been printed on the subject. The first edition of this book broke that mold, offering a comprehensive look into the software’s capabilities. This second edition expands on the several new processes added to the PixInsight platform since that time, detailing and demonstrating each one with a now-expanded workflow. Addressing topics such as PhotometricColorCalibration, Large-Scale Pixel Rejection, LocalNormalization and a host of other functions, this text remains the authoritative guide to PixInsight. Review: Very helpful - Very useful and a great read if you are new to pixinsight! Review: I like having written guides to follow as opposed to YouTube videos - I like having written guides to follow as opposed to YouTube videos that are almost impossible to follow unless you transcribe them. Well illustrated and clear directions - good quality print and paper. Since PI is updated so often, some things are not up to date, but I did not find that to be a deal breaker.

Pixinsight is very complex and the book is helpful in learning the software.
The book seems to be very complete, but it is not "one-stop shop". It is helpful but tends to take a beginner along too many paths for it to be a stand-alone source. It is worth having, though, but using videos is also necessary, and it is nice to have a friend that can help also.

You need this if you're new to PI
I bought this book as the recommended PixInsight primer. The book contains a wealth of information and really helped me get started. While the examples, etc. are fairly straight forward with suggested settings and screen shots of the various scripts and processes, it does jump around a bit in places and I've had to do a lot of thumbing around to stay on top of what's happening. Combined with information available online, this books has proven well worth the cost for me as a beginner.

A bit hard to navigate but pretty thorough
The processes are well-explained so it's not only a [mindless] step-by-step how to guide but also a good explanation of each process's function and settings. Good "before and after" photos. There's a lot of interactive guides on YouTube but they seldom go into enough detail to master these tools as this book does.

Essential reading for using Pixinsight
I purchased the first edition of this book and I found it to be of little help getting me up and running with the program. The second edition received many top reviews and many astrophotographers who's work I highly admire have recommended the book. I purchased it a couple weeks ago and it has already been a huge advantage to may image processing routines. Pixinsight is a program that involves iterative learning, you pick up something each time you use it. Purchasers of this book who are new to Pixinsight will find it basic enough to get started using the program and more experienced users will find more than enough material to supplement current routines and push their processing to a higher level. Highly recommended!

A must-have for PI users!
A must-have read and excellent reference book for beginner and intermediate Pixinsight users. Well written with very useful guides for various settings that serve to de-mystify the otherwise complex software. Unreservedly recommended!

A lot of information BUT
Pixinsight has so many updates and features almost on a monthly updates getting a book is only going to help get a basic understanding. The Pixinsight team does a great job of explaining the new features in videos and users post their impressions and haw they use it on YouTube.

Very useful reference book
Very useful reference if you already have a reasonably good understanding of data processsing, but I'd imagine it's not so good for anyone that is just starting out. Needs updating for the new weighted average batch pre processing script.

The definitive guide to using PixInsight
PixInsight is a very daunting piece of software. No matter how much experience you may have with other photo processing software, a new user will be instantly stumped by PI. The interface is unlike anything else. The functions and tools don't have familiar names. The tools themselves have multiple settings unlike any other image processing software. Online video tutorials from the various free streaming sites run the gamut from horrible to passable, with a few gems here and there along the way. The learning curve for new user is very steep. Mr Keller walks you through the whole process of PixInsight processing, covering the tools, their settings, what they do, and how to use use them. He demystifies the program and makes things very easy to understand. This is the definitive guide to using the most powerful piece of astro-imaging software ever created. And it's worth every penny.

Ottimo
Non sto a ripetere quanto già scritto da altri, aggiungo che la versione cartacea è stampata su una bella carta e le immagini a colori ne giovano di conseguenza.
