3rd times a charm....maybe?
Purchased our unit mid December 2018. 1 project later and 2 months of sitting in its box the unit was dead, this was mid February 2019. I was able to get a replacement unit shipped out but here we are at the beginning of June 2019 and I have another dead unit. When we plug the scanner in nothing, it does not pull up in device manager at all. We have tried a Windows 7 machine, a Windows 10 machine on build 1533, build 1703, build 1803, and the latest version from a fresh install, nothing. Tried every combination of plugging it into the computer from plugging the USB into the computer with no power then powering it up, plugging it in with power at the same time, plugging power into the scanner letting the scanner boot then plugging it into the computer, nothing. Its dead dead. Not sure what is going on but so far these scanners have proven to not be reliable at all. We do all of our scanning inside a studio environment and the scanner is only plugged in while in use so there is no reason for anything to be wrong with it at all. When not in use the scanner is always put back in its box as to not be damaged. Currently waiting on Shinning to get back to use about this RMA. Hopefully 3rd times a charm. I will update this review as time goes on. I hope we have just had bad luck with a small batch of scanners. I have talked to 3 other distributors of the scanner and they all stated there hasn't been any issues with any of their customers so that is at least good. Update: The manufacture send us a new unit and this one has been rock solid. With the update of their software things have gotten so much better. It’s still not Artec quality, but for the price it’s totally worth the money now.
