This is the best answer without full length bolt in wooden door. This application used with vinyl clad door and window. Great solution.

Works fine on my patio door
Attached it to my patio door but had to add some spacers to bring it out from the frame so the hole could be drilled where the shaft goes in to give it some material to make ti work properly. Little pricey but it is high quality.

Great lock that isn’t too difficult to handle.
Very nice quality for what we were needing. We bought a new house and the back, sliding glass door did not have a lock. The previous owners just used a flimsy, thin medal rod to black the door from being opened. Well, that didn’t work for us. Plus, we bought and installed a dog door. My husband installed this lock within a few minutes. I was worried it would be difficult to open. I am very short and it’s a struggle for me to reach, but the lock is just long enough and not to strong that I cannot move it up and down. It doesn’t move super easily, just fairly well with firm pressure. Great buy!

Not for outside installation
The description stated for inside or outside installation, but the locksmith said absolutely not true. Not a cheap lock so pricey useless lock.
