Works flawlessly. Great sound.
The sound quality is so great, even better than the wired microphone I am using. Setting up is easy. Make sure you read the instructions in the manual. Also looks great. There are some reports about accidentally hitting the on/off/mute button, but I don't think that is true. You have to intentionally press the button hard to trigger it.

PTU-71 Product Review
Upon receipt of the microphones, I unboxed them and found them to be made of metal construction, not cheap plastic that would fall apart in your hands. The reciever is constructed from metal as well, and is sturdy enough to stand up to the rigors of road use. I have the PTU-5000 wireless microphone set and have certainly not been disappointed in the performance of those microphones, reliable and rugged are the words that I would use to describe it. This is the first of a two part review that I'll be writing. The first part of the review is the initial Pros and Cons of the unit as I have not had an opportunity to use the system live as of yet. Pros: All metal construction and ease of setup are essential if your going to be on the road with this system, and this is where the product really excels. If your going to use a rack drawer to store the system when not in use, I recommend using the foam that in inside the packaging as all of the parts have thier place and there is no need to custom make the foam in the drawer. Comfort: If your a vocalist that does not play an instrument, the michrophon is comfortable to hold, not too big around so as to make your hands start to cramp at the end of the night. Customer Service: This above all else exceeds ones expactations!! Email response is very fast and Phynex stands behind the quality of their products and is quite efficient in making right any defect or flaw that may arise while using thier products. Price: Don't let the price of this system fool you, it is well worth the investment. Where else are going to find great customer service, a great system, and one that is rugged enough to stand up to the rigors of road work for this price? I dare you to do better! I did a lot of research, as I normally do, when searching for replacement gear or anything that I use for performing as that is how I make my living. I haven't found another system in the price range that accomplishes what the PTU-71 does. Cons: This may or may not be a con, depending on how to use the system. The system is not rackmountable as it has no ears to mount it. There is however a work around. It can be mounted on a Raxxess shelf that has the slots in the bottom to accomodate zip ties. The way I would recommend mounting it is by using velcro on the shelf and on the reciever, then placing two zip ties going across the front, then two on the sides. This way the reciever is not suseptable to movement or damage. At this time, there are no other cons that I can see or foresee. This is only the inital part of the reveiw and once I am able to use the system, I'll continue the review from there. I used these at a show last night and they performed every bit as well as the PTU-5000 set that I have. The only other thing that may be considered a con is the placement of the on/off button. If your a vocalist that holds the mic, it's possible that the mic could be cut off accidentally. If you use mic stands like we do, it's not a concern at all. If all you need it two mics, this is absolutely the way to go. I noticed very little differences in comparison to the PTU-5000. Another pro about this unit is the ease of set up. It took all of 3 minutes to set it up and have it operational, You couldn't ask for an easier set up and tear down of a unit than that. I opted to mount mine in a rack so it's very easy transport Overall, I would say that this system is just as good if not better than the higher dollar systems. I definitely recommend this system to anyone that is looking for high quality and performance at an extremely affordable price. Keep up the great work Phenyx!!

Update: Curve your enthusiasm
Update: I’ve given these mics a few more tries. Worked flawlessly during two events and I just tested with a new method and was blown away with the results. The video shows a girl using the mic 65’ from the receiver and walking slightly further, and it worked this well for over 15 minutes. Not a single noticeable dropout. The photo is a little rig I cooked up, I have a 12v lithium battery for the receiver and a wired in ear monitor belt pack which also runs on battery. I put some TV on my phone and sat the mic on the phone’s speaker and walked away with this rig (basically a reverse of how a sane person would test the mic) listening to what the receiver was outputting on the fly. I was able to walk over a 100’ without any dropouts, and 225’ with a few drop outs here and there when in motion. Then I walked around a building 25’ over and though there were a few dropouts, it was mostly clear! That’s +225’ not line of sight and it still had signal. I switched to the lav bodypack and had similar results, though I lost the signal completely about half the way around the building. The lav does suffer from fluttering so it’s going to be useless outdoors, but functions decently. I’ve increased the rating to 5 stars because it’s an incredible value. I guess the first time I used it, I ran into some bad luck as you can keep reading below for my first impression. I’m still going to keep these as backup, but I will not be as worried now that I’ve had some success with them. ————————— Original 4 star review: Tried it out last night at a wedding as a DJ. Worked great at the booth for announcements. I wasn’t going to use it on stage but the timeline had to shift because things fell behind which left me no leeway to lay cable for a speech segment 30 feet away. It was used side by side with a Sennheiser EW 100 G1 handheld (9v battery kind) and the Phenyx Pro suffered interference and dropouts a few times intermittently. The receiver was 3’ 6” off the ground to start with and there was almost direct line of sight with the only thing blocking was the grooms hand on the bottom of the mic, maybe the brides body and the wood in my facade. The speaker stand pole was also near by and I had the receiver stacked on top of the Sennheiser receiver. I raised the receiver to 4’ and sat it on a corner of the facade and faced the antenna perpendicular to the direction of the mic which improved the signal but it was still suffering a little bit of drop outs on the indicator, almost not noticeable. Mind you, the sennheiser didn’t have any issues with this situation the entire time and the squelch setting was on high. We were outdoors on a church lawn, with nothing but parking lot around us. I’m not sure if it was bad luck but this is a pretty typical distance and environment you can expect to use a wireless mic. It might be okay for a small karaoke or cafe singer songwriter performance setup, where you’re never more than 15’ from the receiver, but it’s not ready for prime time. Other than that, the build quality is impressive and doesn’t feel cheap. I also bought the body pack for the lavalier mic and that’s all plastic and feels pretty cheap, so fair warning on that. The scanning and syncing works well so ease of use gets high marks. Sound quality is fine, the handling noise is definitely higher than the Sennheiser, but about what’s expected from a mic at this price. The deal breaker for me is the unreliability at a real world distance and it should not be breaking a sweat at 30-35 feet. I’ll keep this around as a last resort, and I’m curious about Phenyx Pro’s true diversity handheld.

Beautiful microphone system well constructed
Very nice quality microphone system the receiver is a real receiver with selectable channels. I've had cheap mics before with fake lcd displays these are real lcd displays that can be changed and tuned. I have no doubt these will be worth my money unlike the TP junk I bought years ago

First of all, looks good and looks professional. Secondly, it is very easy to set up using it's IR for the frequency you want and most of all, it's sound is beautiful and clean, especially when it is in the right EQ settings. Third, it's price is lower compared to Shure, a well know brand in the music industry... For me I recommend this brand more than the PTU-71 that I have...maybe next time I will buy it again or maybe the PTU-7000... Thank you very much Phenyx Pro and I did not make a mistake in my choice.

I recently purchased the Phenyx Pro PTU-71 Wireless Microphone System, and I must say, it has exceeded my expectations in every way. As a professional musician and sound engineer, I require equipment that is both reliable and high-performing, and the PTU-71 delivers on both fronts. Sound Quality: The sound quality of these microphones is impressive. The cardioid dynamic capsules provide clear, crisp audio with minimal feedback, even in challenging environments. Whether I’m using them for live performances or studio recordings, the sound remains consistently excellent. Range and Stability: One of the standout features of the PTU-71 is its extended range. The dual-channel receiver is a fantastic addition, allowing for simultaneous use of both microphones without any issues. Build Quality: The build quality of the microphones and the receiver is top-notch. The all-metal construction gives a robust feel, ensuring that the equipment can withstand the rigors of frequent use and transportation. Battery Life: The microphones operate on AA batteries, which provide several hours of continuous use. 4 batteries are included Value for Money: Considering the quality and features of the Phenyx Pro PTU-71, it offers excellent value for money. It’s comparable to other high-end wireless microphone systems but at a fraction of the cost. This makes it an ideal choice for both amateurs and professionals looking to upgrade their audio equipment without breaking the bank.
