This product works great for my needs.

It works
So far so good. I am using this to connect a DVD player to a receiver that only has RCA inputs and to pass through the HDMI to my smart TV. So far it works as it should.

AUDIO DID NOT WORK AT FIRST -- BUT WAIT
The first unit I purchased did not work well. There was a problem with the audio. I filed for a return, and the seller's customer service team contacted me, WITHOUT ME ASKING. We discussed the issue at hand, they offered some solutions and Amazon sent me a second unit. IT NOW WORKS GREAT. EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM THE SELLER! THANK YOU.

Difficult to get working.
So the biggest problem I have with this device is you must connect the power first and then the other cables. If you do it out of order, the picture doesn't always show up and the sound will also not work even if you get a picture. This is a huge pain when you have a power outage and have to disconnect and reconnect everything. The manual doesn't say hardly anything at all about troubleshooting the device or setting it up in this order. I also tried contacting the support email (which they claim 24-hour replies) however I have yet to receive any replies. Once you figure this all out, it does work nicely, the picture and sound split nicely and I like the HDMI passthrough but I would prefer a reliable solution instead of having to constantly mess with it to get it to work. The price is nice and other solutions like this are more expensive.

HDMI to composite video and analog audio - yes, it works
My goal was to extract NTSC video and analog audio from the HDMI output of a streaming box (Roku or Apple TV) while still feeding 1080p video to my HDTV. I use the analog signals to drive a UHF modulator that feeds a couple of old TVs. First, the good news. Yes, it works. The NTSC picture quality is surprisingly good and the sound is OK provided that the HDMI digital audio format is 2-channel. More on this below. Now, the not so good news. Problem 1: It doesn't work with surround sound - there's no audio, just noise. This is not surprising because the converter box doesn't have a surround decoder. Problem 2: When using the Roku 4, there's no HDMI video at all ... just a black screen. My solution was to use an HDMI switch / audio extractor in front of the converter. This enabled HDMI video. I needed the converter anyway in order to extract an optical S/PDIF signal for my old non-HDMI surround receiver. If you have an old AV receiver like mine that does not support HDMI or DD+, you might want to read this. I switched from the Roku 4 to an Apple TV 4K to enable DD 5.1 surround sound from my streaming services ... which are mostly DD+. Apparently, the Apple box decodes DD+ digital audio and converts it to DD or 2-channel stereo depending on the capabilities of the receiver. The Roku does not do this so unless you have a DD+ receiver everything comes across as 2-ch. Of course, the Apple TV provides either 2-ch or 5.1 ... not both simultaneously. Which one you get depends on the EDID code returned over HDMI. Turns out that my HDMI audio extractor has the capability to select an EDID for either 5.1 or 2 ch. audio. This allows me to turn off 5.1 when I want to use the converter, which only works with 2-ch.

Perfect for Disney+ and 240p gaming over HDMI
I tested out Disney+ on my HDMI display device and composite video display device, and I can watch programs from the streaming platform without any problems. Also, newer gaming consoles can display resolutions higher than the NTSC (240p/480i) standard, so this may be useful for downscaling those high-resolution video signals to NTSC-level upon recording gameplay to any VHS tape. I tested this adapter with a PS2 HDMI adapter, and I can confirm it works with 240p signals, even if it's displayed as 480i complete with alternating scanlines on a 15.5 khz CRT television. This is exhilarating. If you are interested on doing what I'm doing, then prepare to get excited.

Good Job!
In the past 3-4 years I have bought and tried 3 similar units with disappointing results. They were all around half the price and the size of this one, with similar facilities. However, these were rigged with unreliability and varying quality responses to the equipment they were connected to. Usually, the sound was OK - though not always - but the picture was unacceptable. It varied from annoying - with instability and streaks - to unwatchable. Some provided Standard Options (various PAL and NTSC), with varying degrees of improvement, but no real success. Well, this 'Newcare' unit eliminated all the above sub-standard performances and worked perfectly well as soon as it was connected and switched on! Long may it continue to do so! The transition from Digital HDMI to Composite Analogue was fine and stable and the HDMI through Output was very practical and useful. I normally shop from the UK Amazon, as I live in the UK and Greece. However, I took a risk buying this from the USA because it looked more 'professional' and a more 'serious' piece of equipment. In a sense, I also interpreted its higher cost and shipping expenses as a bit of an assurance of quality and this has paid off! Delivery to Greece was comparatively quick - around 3 weeks - by today's Coivid-19 standards and the Customs Clearance Fees proved a shortcut through the Greek Customs that, following the accursed Brexit, currently delay items from the UK so that they take 4-5 weeks to arrive! Recommended Product and Seller!
