Works great!
The chimney sweep who cleaned my system at the start of the season was impressed. All residue crumbled to powder and was easily brushed out. This was after running my fireplace continuously all winter long. I use this soot remover in conjunction with the Rutland creosote remover. He said to continue doing exactly the same thing, as it is working.

and he said with the amount of build up we should be good for another 2 years
I have been using this for a couple heating seasons and the results are terrrific! I just had a chimney cleaner come sweep our chimney at the beginning of this season. We told him that we hadn't had it cleaned for the last 2 seasons of burning, and he said with the amount of build up we should be good for another 2 years. I heat with wood and coal in an indoor furnace. I also use the Rutland creosote remover. Each year I shovel out a bunch of ash at the bottom of my chimney clean out, so this stuff definitely works.

Don't Waste Your Money
I ordered and used three buckets of this during the second half of the winter - after my mid-winter stovepipe and chimney cleaning. It was a waste of my money. I tend to have only a tiny amount of creosote, and I found that to still be the case when I did my season-ending cleaning today. I was hoping that this product would eliminate or at least cut down on the soot buildup in the stovepipe and on the lower end of the chimney liner. However, I found that the soot layer was just as much as at previous cleanings. That was a disappointment, but what was a real annoyance was that the soot that landed on the hearth and a few footprints on the adjacent carpet were much harder to vacuum up. I cover most of the area with old towels, but inevitably some soot escapes, and I'm used to vacuuming up the stray soot. This time, though, it took a lot longer, and there is still a visible residue that I will have to scrub off the hearth and out of the carpet. I will not use this product again.

This is a fire additive.
Thought this was a cleaning solution you'd mix with water. Turns out it's a fire additive so, I can't comment on how it works since our fireplace isn't wood burning anymore.
