BUT!!!!!!!!!!
BUT!!!!!!!!!!!! The 5 stars is for how it looks only when it is on. I bought two of these and they are the cheapest pieces of junk. The problem starts with the other reviews. Upon reading many the common problem was the controls did not line up with the holes. Let me tell you why...Amazon does not pack these for shipping. The boxes are junk and the units are to heavy. The first one came just as everyone described. The knobs were about 1/4 to 3/8 off. Here is the fix. I disassembled the entire lower box assembly. When I removed the top on the lower box you see why all this happens. There is a piece of thin stamped metal they use as a base plate for the burner. The top cap has four legs that carry all the weight during shipping, as these are stacked for shipping the base plate is bent to the point it buckles. You need to remove all the screws on the base plate flip it over and bend it back. This is not the whole fix. Flip it back over and install all the base screws tight. I installed 8 stainless steel washers, 2 under each of the base cap legs. This brings the knobs into the correct position for the holes. Everything else goes together per the instructions. It looks amazing when its burning. Now the second one I bought. I figured it could not be and worse. I was wrong. The box was beat. When I opened it the lower box assembly was bent so bad the rivets broke off the top of the side panel. And one of the poles for the grate was bent. There just is not enough packing to protect the unit when it is shipped. Again a complete rebuild. and about 4 hours later it looks amazing on the patio. It is not worth what they are charging but if you take the time to fix it. The end result is, it looks great at night. If I had to do it again I would have spent a little more for a better quality unit. I am contacting the distributor to advise them of what I found. Fixing the units was less time for me then repacking them and sending them back.

beautiful but of limited use
I agree with those who found the assembly instructions a bit confusing; simply increasing the size of the drawing to show the parts more clearly would solve that problem. I too spent about an hour putting it together and yes, a small step ladder is a must when finishing off the top. The assembled unit is very good looking, it fired up right away and it is indeed a dramatic addition during parties. The wheels have allowed me to roll it to a side yard when it's not needed; have done this about 4 times so far and it holds together, with a full tank attached, without any problem (so far). I worry a bit about the glass tubes during the moves, but so far so good.As for heat. I've given this item only 3 stars because it fails in its purpose, providing heat. I wanted to use it near an 8 seat, square table, to warm at least half the table. It barely warms the seats only 3 feet away. As a heater this unit is good for standing groups only, where they can circle it and get very close. But don't expect much heat if you sit near it. The glass tubing (and heat emissions) start about 3 feet off the ground. What's interesting is you can see the waves of heat pouring out of the top of the unit and even quite a distance outward from the sides of the top deflector, but you can barely see heat waves coming off the sides where the glass tubing is located. So most of the useable heat escapes out the top. Someone else mentioned a mushroom deflector at the top might deflect some of that heat downward where it could be of use. That would be great, but with its current design it's merely a thing of beauty that doesn't function well as a heater. We're going to buy a practical, standard mushroom-top for use near out table and will keep this Square Flame Heater (though I'd return it if I could) for the wow factor only. Hope this helps. We feel we've wasted $400. And yes, I kick myself for not reading these reviews before buying.

Nice looking, instructions suck!
I should have listened to the other reviewers. The heater is really attractive but it's time consuming to setup and the instructions can be confusing. It was very frustrating and after about three hours of dedicated time, I still don't have it working.
