Great stone!
Did a lot of research and so far this one by far best bang for your buck especially with the small white lapping stone to clean your whetstone with. Good instructions. The angle guide only fits the big kitchen knives, any other knife maybe not so well, but i have 3 different skinning knives in s30v, d2, ss from finland. I haven't touched the s30v yet just havent needed to, but my d2 and ss really needed it, d2 i was shaping to a 20degree angle from a 25 and the small lansky stones i got give off slightly different angles with each stone, and these ones fixed that issue and now shaves off hair with ease! The ss knife was already at a good angle and just needed to put an edge back on it. I highly recommend these stones and I'll be buying the 3000/8000 one next.

Excellent product with great manufacturer support
Could not give a stronger product endorsement. Initially I had two issues with the kit. First there was a small blemish on the side of the sharpening stone that formed a small irregularity on the surface of the stone. Second it was very difficult to remove the stone from the storage container / base. After bringing these issues to the manufacturer's attention they immediately processed a refund without me asking. After receiving the refund I offered to return the product and was told this was not necessary. Rather than wasting the sharpening stone I used the dressing stone supplied in the kit to remove the small raised area. Since then I used the stone a few times and can say I am very happening with it and the base that comes with it. I was concerned that in removing the stone from the storage container (doubles as a sharpening base) the sharpening stone itself would become damaged. When shipped the sharpening stone is packaged in shrink wrapped plastic and this makes for a tight fit in the base. I found in practice this was not the case and when removed with care there was no damage. This tight fit pays big dividends when sharpening a knife. There is virtually no movement of the stone which is placed in the base while sharpening knives. Based on product quality, strong manufacturer support and completeness of the kit there is nothing comparable out there at this price point.

Great product
I have not had a new whetstone for a long time. It was kind of fun soaking it, and watching all of the bubbles. I grabbed every knife in my house, sat down on my couch with a beer and a bowl of water, and went to work. I spent hours honing the edges of my knives and bringing them back to a razor sharp edge. I had forgotten what a wonderfully soothing experience it is to sharpen my blades. I fiddled with the guide a bit, but found that it was more cumbersome than helpful (for ME). I can see how it may be a useful tool for someone who is just learning to sharpen their knives, but would recommend some regular checks for positioning if one chooses to make use of it. The case is convenient and provides awesome air circulation to dry the stone, and storage for the entire kit. I am actually thinking of buying other stones from this vendor, as well as a couple of their knives. I am very happy with this product!!!

Great starting point
Bought this to sharpen kitchen knives. I think the stone itself is of quality and effective, but the packaging leaves a bit to be desired. The rubber feet on the stand aren't really sticky enough to be relied on with a wet counter (whetstones can be used dry, but this is specifically intended to be soaked and sprinkled), and the rubber gaskets used to hold the stone in the stand are all but impossible to fit back into the base. Overall, the part that matters is good, but the accoutremonts leave a little to be desired.

Slicing tomatoes with ease.
If you have never sharpened a knife before and would like to be able to actually sharpen your kitchen knives so they are as sharp if not sharper than they were when new buy this sharpening block. There is a guide that clamps onto the back of the knife to ensure the proper angle, I used it, this was the first time I was ever successful in sharpening a knife with a stone like this. It is a wet stone, soak it in a tub of water for at least 10 minutes before using it. I am going to purchase the finer grits and see jut how sharp I can get my knives, I am so pleased to finally be able to sharpen my own knives rather than seeking out a machine shop that does them. My first job as a teenager was in a professional kitchen and we would all send our Trident knives out to be sharpened in a group. I was so proud of my nice chef knife. Of course I engraved my initials in it to ensure I got the same one back each time. Once I did not work at that kitchen anymore I did not have access to that service. The places that do it only charge a few dollars a knife but there are only one or two paces that do it. Over the decades they keep going in and out of business. It is a PIA to find them and to go drop my knives off to be sharpened. NO MORE! Now I can finally do my own. Slicing tomatoes with ease. I love this block.

It does what it was purchased to do.
Chinese version waterstone. Not a bad buy at all. Identical to the Sharp Pebble brand. When pre soaking be sure to submerge the coarser side only in warm saltwater for the first few uses, that will help alleviate any crazing in the fine grit side ( which seems to work best as a splash and go stone for the first ten or so sharpening sessions ) after that I simply immerse the entire stone in warm salt water for about 20 minutes prior to using. The system works. is protected well, and the nagura stone matches the stones quality nicely.

Exactly as described
Nothing fancy here, itโs just an old-school bad ass sharpening stone. Are used it on my daily carry around Smith and Wesson blade and it did a great job sharpening it even further. I also used it on a Gerber machete that to this point Iโve been very displeased with but it made a noticeable difference to the blades sharpness. I would definitely recommend the sharpener for anything from Kitchen cutlery all the way to machetes

Great value works well!
This stone worked to sharpen both my Shun and a Victronix chef knives. I do not recommend using the plastic blade aligner that comes with this product as it left marks on my Victronix. The shun sharpening video on YouTube will help you use this product. It does take a bit of practice but once you get the hang of it you'll be looking for things to sharpen around the house.
