I buy this Tryptophan with a 220 Mg dose, this is plenty strong for me, larger doses are too strong-at least for me.

Exhaustion
My blood test showed extremely low serotonin. I thought I'd try 500 mg of this supplement to help my body make more serotonin. After about a week and a half I started to feel such exhaustion. The fatigue you feel when you're getting sick. I never got sick, though. It got so bad that I had to sleep during the day and I started getting so anxious. I finally realized that my only change I had made was this supplement. So I started taking this lower dose. The feeling came right back, again, after 3 weeks. No more L-Tryptophan for me.

Data point: might be great for seasonal blues
One person's experience is not evidence, but since I couldn't find many scientific studies of this product: I've been taking L-Tryptophan for 3 months (since October, one pill before bed) and this is the first winter in 30 years where I didn't experience crushing S.A.D, despite all the additional emotional challenges of 2020. Every winter I suffer from winter blues. I live in cloudy Vancouver where you might not see the sun for weeks at a time from Nov - Feb. I usually feel depressed and tired all day every day during that time, have trouble working, enjoying friends/hobbies, and trouble sleeping at night (insomnia is year-round but much worse in winter). For over a decade I've been using: a light book, vitamin D supplements, exercise outdoors, tanning beds, avoiding blue/bright light at night, melatonin and prescription sleeping pills. All of these things help reduce symptoms but the only actual cure is leaving Vancouver and going somewhere sunny. I am a flexitarian and eat meat and dairy only 3-4 times a month, but I do eat plenty of nuts, soy/bean protein, and daily supplements with meals including Iron, D, and B12. My seasonal blues and insomnia predate this diet, but I'm sure it hasn't helped. I've been surprised at how strongly melatonin works for me - a full 10mg pill makes me feel absolutely stoned, loopy and jittery (mild hallucinations and waking dreams, too drowsy to function, like smoking a joint), so I only take 1/8 of a pill most winter nights, which still makes me drowsy. I wondered if I have a strong reaction because my body is failing to produce natural melatonin and isn't used to it. I learned that bodies produce melatonin (sleep regulator) and serotonin (happiness maker) from tryptophan (from meat and other protein foods) using vitamin D (from sunlight, meat, and other proteins). Since I am both chronically unhappy in winter and unable to regulate my sleep cycle, I wondered if part of the equation I'm missing is tryptophan. Maybe my body has trouble getting vitamin D from foods/supplements without sunlight, but if there was more tryptophan to bond with, what little vitamin D I get in the winter could go further. I take one 220mg L-Tryptophan pill before bed (in addition to the melatonin and every other SAD treatment). My sleep is NOT noticeably better than with melatonin alone, but during the day I am significantly more awake, productive, and happier. Way, way better than normal years. This is ironically one of the happiest winters I've ever had in Vancouver, despite not being able to see friends or family, additional stress from work and finances, anger about covid and politics, and everything else that should have made winter 2020-2021 emotionally the worst ever. The only difference I can point to is that I've been taking L-Tryptophan. This isn't scientific evidence! But I think you should try it. I'd like to see more proper studies done on this supplement, particularly on people with seasonal blues, sleep disorders and diets low in red meat.

Has really helped with quality of sleep
When it comes down to supplements sometimes it’s really hard to tell if they are truly providing benefits. I am on my second bottle now and I’m feeling confident to give a review after five months of use. After couple of days of use I thought this product may not be for me, especially since after the first and the second day of use I slept only a couple hours, they made my mind keep running the the whole night, and I stopped taking them. But 1 week after I thought to give them a second chance, and I’m glad that I did. Now I’m sleeping the whole night through. I’m not waking up in the middle of the night now, I’m feeling well rested when I wake up in the morning, and my mood has improved. At one point I stopped taking them for a little bit because I wanted to see if I still needed to use them. I noticed that I continued to see benefits and was sleeping well. I recently started using them again I noticed that not only do I get more hours sleep, I wake up more energized, and I have a better overall mood.

Excellent produit
Je ne le prenais pas pour le sommeil mais pour la qualité de protéine qu'il apporte pour l'entraînement musculaire et la régénaration des tissus.

Very good sleep aid
This really mellows me out and it has none of the side effects of my prescription sleeping pills. If you have serious sleeping issues, this might not be enough to knock you out as the effect is somewhat mild compared to medication, but it's a good way to help you fall asleep if you have some trouble relaxing at night, and it could complement your medication if your medication doesn't cut it. It also helps me relax when I'm anxious, again with very little side effects besides drowsiness. But that effect is also mild compared to actual medication.
