KVM Switch HDMI 4 Port wit Audio and 4 kit Cables, 4 Port HDMI KVM Switch Support 4K@60Hz 4:4:4, EDID, Hotkey Switching

This is a solid KVM that includes pretty much everything you need in the box. I have purchased more expensive KVMs in the past that only came with a partial cable kit. Here you get all 4 cable sets. I am currently using the device with 3 PCs connected to it. You have the option to select different PCs using either the front panel buttons on the device, a keyboard shortcut or a mouse shortcut. This is nice depending on your use case. I have the device hidden away, so the front panel buttons are not an option for me. I have found the keyboard shortcut to work just fine. I am using a wireless keyboard and mouse with the KVM. The Dell keyboard and the Logitech mouse each have their own USB dongle. If you want to use the device (keyboard or mouse) to switch between the different PCs the keyboard or mouse needs to be plugged into a dedicated keyboard and mouse USB connector on the back of the KVM unit. Connecting through these dedicated USB ports interferes with special features on the keyboard or mouse (for example the Logitech mouse has a number of programmable buttons that won't work if connected to the "mouse" USB port). Based on the way I use the KVM I decided to connect the keyboard to the keyboard port and the Logitech mouse to the generic USB port on the front. This allows me to switch between PCs with the keyboard shortcut and still use the advanced features of the Logitech mouse (but cannot switch between PCs using the mouse). Overall, I have been very happy with the KVM. When trying to decide which to buy, I read at least one review of this switch indicating problems with the USB ports on the switch. I have not had any trouble with any of the ports or the supplied cables.

The CKLau KVM Switch HDMI seems to have thought of everything. I have been oscillating between a 4 and 5 star rating. Since I like the switch, I left it at 5 stars. My configuration is as follows: A W10 desktop outputting VGA. I use a VGA to HDMI converter and tap the audio using a USB audio converter. This works flawlessly so far. A Linux desktop with a VGA to HDMI converter and tap the audio using a USB audio converter. This works flawlessly so far. A W11 Desktop outputting HDMI. This works flawlessly so far. An W11 HP Laptop (dy2xxx). The Laptop has an HDMI output and USB ports for input. It is temperamental in that in order for it to connect to the switch properly, you have to start the Laptop with the switch set to its position. Sound on the older desktops is routed from a USB sound adapter through the VGA converter. I had problems getting the Laptop to route the sound through the HDMI output. It took a couple of restarts to get the laptop to recognize the switch as an external monitor and then you have to set the display to the external monitor only. Then find the sound output setting and set the sound to go through the HDMI output. I recommend having a flashlight, easy to remove tape, and some 5" cable ties available when you hook things up. The cables are 5 feet long, you might need longer cables depending on how close your PC's are to the switch. Also useful was an HDMI to HDMI coupler with a spare HDMI cable so I could move the monitor to the side to make hooking things up easier. It is a good idea to also download the user manual and save it for future reference. If you accidentally interchange USB cables, display login on a PC. Then try each position and see if the keyboard enters characters for the password. Then switch USB cables until things line up.

Excellent construction, I *really* wanted to keep this, but sadly I would have had to give up my wireless Logitech keyboard and mouse. The purchase price was great, and I did get support from the vendor, but the killer was the "hotkey" capability didn't work for my use case. Wired device would be okay, but this unit was not completely working the same with my Logitech devices. Hated to return, but would be a good unit for some.

1st CKLau KVM Switch died after 5 years. Started having glitches where it would loose the keyboard and/or the mouse. Then finally died. This second one has started having occasional glitches where it would loose the keyboard and/or the mouse after the 1st week. Now after the return windows is closed these occasional glitches happen all the time. Searching for a replacement. Update. The CKLAU 4‑Port HDMI KVM with Audio behaves erratically, is extremely common with this model. Even though it has its own power supply, the internal USB handling is still fragile. It experiences — **freezing**, **random key repeats**, **phantom keystrokes** — point to specific failures that happen with this exact type of budget KVM. 1. The USB controller inside the KVM is very low‑quality These units use a cheap USB switching IC that struggles with: - Fast typing - Mechanical keyboards - Gaming keyboards - Wireless dongles - High‑polling‑rate mice When the USB buffer overflows, the KVM starts **injecting random keystrokes** or **locking up entirely**. This is the #1 cause of the “typing on its own” problem. 2. The KVM does not fully isolate USB signals between ports Even though it has external power, the USB lines are still shared internally. This causes: - Cross‑talk between ports - Stuck modifier keys (Shift, Ctrl, Alt) - Repeated characters - Keyboard freezing after switching PCs If one PC sends a noisy USB signal, the whole KVM glitches. 3. HDMI activity can disrupt USB stability These units share internal power rails between HDMI and USB. When HDMI load spikes (high resolution, HDR, 144Hz, long cables), the USB side can brown out. Symptoms: - Freeze when switching displays - Keyboard stops responding after monitor wakes - Random keystrokes after resolution changes 4. Some keyboards simply aren’t compatible CKLAU switches often fail with: - RGB keyboards - Mechanical keyboards - Keyboards with built‑in hubs - Wireless keyboard/mouse combos - Anything with macro memory They work best with **basic office keyboards**. 5. The power supply is weak even though it’s “external” The included power brick often outputs unstable voltage under load. This causes intermittent: - USB resets - Keyboard disconnects - Mouse lag - Random keystrokes Replacing the power supply fixes this sometimes but has not for me. Bottom line Your CKLAU KVM is glitching because the internal USB switching chip is unstable under real‑world loads. Even with external power, it cannot reliably handle modern keyboards and mice.

====Update April, 2022==== I now had it for over 1 1/2 years. It continue to work well with many devices: Windows, Ubuntu, NVIDIA Jetson, Raspberry Pi. Recently two of the switch's LED lights went out recently. But I really don't need that. Since both Windows and Ubuntu can be configured to send audio via HDMI cable the audio plugs are useless. So I cut them off to reduce clutter. It is still a good buy and I still recommend it to anyone who works with multiple computers. ====Original review======== I have an environment with 4 devices under development/test in addition to my main computer. I don't have enough space to keep 5 kbd/mouse/monitor setups. I have 2 setups: 1 for the main computer and the other for the development devices. I've set up development devices for headerless mode and remote into them. But when I need to interact with a device directly, I switch cables. That gets old pretty quickly. With this device, I need to setup additional cables initially, but that is so much less than if I had to setup each device separately. When I need to control a different device, I just press a button to switch over to that device. For me, this is a cable mess saver, a desktop space saver and real time save. The price is quite reasonable. In fact, I think it is a real bargain. Initial setup is really easy and working fine. If there is any longer term operational issues, I'll update with that.

UPDATED (Original title: Nicest KVM switch) While I have been very happy with this switch overall, I am no longer enamored with it. After only a few months, the second port has failed. It either cannot find the monitor, or the keyboard/mouse, or neither. Same laptop and cables across the board work fine on the other ports. I think that the issue here may be that there is nothing that really holds the cables in place solidly, so if they get moved around as you plug in different things, the internal pins may be getting bent or loose. I would suggest that a design recessing the actual HDMI ports into the KVM and having an outer socket size of the plastic molding of the cable would support the connection better and avoid this kind of problem. This device is not unique in suffering from this--all HDMI and USB are fundamentally flawed in that the cable should be female and the socket should be male (therefore allowing you to replace a cable instead of the electronic device itself), but I am still going to have to knock off a few stars for it to have become a problem so quickly. ---------------------- ORIGINAL REVIEW ---------------------- I bought this KVM switch to replace an older VGA switch. It has everything I could ask for: 1. Switching is easy. It comes with a keyboard combo using the right Control key. My old one used the Scroll Lock key and this new switch let me reprogram it so I did not have to get used to the new key combo. 2. As compared to the previous switch, flipping between laptops and desktops with different capabilities does not confuse it and make my monitor freak out. 3. The USB hub on the front is brilliant--I attached a six port USB hub to that, then my printer, a few thumb drives, and a hard drive to that. I found that I had to reboot each independent machine one time with it as the current machine, but after that every machine picks up all the attached peripherals. Brilliant--no more mailing myself things from my work account (on VPN) to my home account so that I can print something out; no more getting off VPN to copy a large file--just put it on a thumb drive on one, switch to the other, and it is available. 4. It works happily with a wireless mouse/keyboard. There are USB slots to attach a keyboard and a mouse separately, but I found that putting the wireless USB receiver in the keyboard slot allowed everything to work happily. 5. The customer support is superlative. One of the cables snapped off in the socket after I had everything hooked up (including zip ties for organization, etc.). No way I wanted to take everything apart and return it. An email to their tech support resulted in a free replacement within a week--and to go above and beyond, they sent me a spare cable. While I love this switch, I will provide one caveat given feedback in other reviews: I am using only Windows machines. I have no idea how well this would work with other devices.

I have one desktop running Ubuntu, one gov laptop running Win 10 Pro, one company laptop running Win 10 Pro connected to the switch along with a USB speaker and a 4-port USB hub. A web cam, wireless mouse dongle, and wireless keyboard dongle are plugged into the USB hub. The switch came with four HDMI cables for connecting to your computers. You only need to provide the HDMI to go from the switch to your monitor. Switching is crisp without screen flicker. The computers do not go to sleep or lock screen when switching from. They will still lock on screen timeout. The buttons on the front of the device are physical buttons with a positive feel when depressed. This switch supports hot key but hot key did not work on my Ubuntu machine but that's okay, there is a button to turn off hot switching. I just use the physical buttons. This isn't a big name device and brought to us at a pretty good price point so I purchased the switch knowing I was taking a risk and 1/2 expected I would be returning it. I am not just satisfied with the device, I'm elated that it works as well as I could expect one to. The device isn't NIAP certified but one shouldn't expect to find a NIAP switch without spending at least 6x the price of this one. If you are still reading, Stop the search. This is the one.

First, I have a Keychron 8 keyboard that I love. It's a VERY common keyboard. I also use Linux. I have a Tessmart KVM as well. Which has it's own set of annoying problems. I recently bought the 8BitDo keyboard that I really enjoy. However, it absolutely will not support hotkey swapping with the Tessmart. I read this CKLau was much better so I bought it. Having a remote keypad was a selling point for me since I've had so many issues with non-vanilla (i.e., MS keyboards) and hot swapping. First thing I noticed with the CKLau was the box was beat all to pieces. They put the box in a non-padded envelope. On the inside of the main box contained the PSU in a smaller white box. It was also crushed really bad because there is no internal padding. Just cables and boxes sliding around. Fortunately, the other inner box containing the switch was OK. Now the positives. The remote keypad is nice. I attached it to the back side of my monitor so I can easily reach it and switch between computers. The switch itself isn't glaring with super bright lights like the Tessmart. That thing was so bright it was distracting. Now the negatives. One, hot-swapping DOES NOT WORK with the Keychron 8. For such a common keyboard, this was very frustrating that it is not supported. My only way to switch is the actual unit itself or the remote keypad. The default beep sound is LOUD. And I mean LOUD. And, you can't turn it off unless you have a supported keyboard!!!!!! Yeah! Since the Keychron does not work with hot swap (hot keys), you cannot disable the beep because you need the hot keys to turn that part off! So I am going to have to find a very plain keyboard somewhere...a keyboard that has no multi-media support JUST SO I CAN DISABLE THE BEEPING! Next, if you plug in a Keychron keyboard, the switch keeps beeping over and over! The screen will keep flashing! It seems if a non-supported keyboard is plugged in, it keeps resetting to position one. The solution is to DISABLE the hot swapping! Why do these KVM manufacturers have such a difficult time with hot swapping??? The only reason I am not giving this one star and RETURNING it is because of the remote keypad. I really wanted to use the hot swap function as I was able to with the Tessmart. Honestly, this is 50% the fault of CKLau and Tessmart and 50% the fault of Keychron and 8BitDo for not supporting standard protocols. At the end of the day, I have a working solution that didn't cost a ton of money. But keep this in mind if you want to use more "exotic" keyboards like the mechanical keyboards I like.

Since installation: So far has worked flawlessly. Nice solid construction too. I like the fact it is powered by its included powerpack. The previous KVM I tried would not work with just one computer on and also would drop out occasionally. Very annoying. That KVM was by another company. I was pleasantly surprised at the reasonable price too. Only con is the leads could be a bit longer. But I like the fact that all the connections are via one HDMI lead into the back of the KVM and then video, USB audio. Microphone are all behind the computer. Using with a Logitech wireless keyboard and trackball combinations and installed with no problem. I've just ordered a second one for my setup in my upstairs computer room So here's hoping the KVM remains reliable. Would like to know if longer leads are available.

Was pass super mit dieser HDMI KVM ist dass es funktioniert einwandfrei. Was pass nicht so gut ist dass man MUSS die Kabeln, die mit dem KVM mitgeliefert wird nutzen. Dies weil auf eine seite gibt es nun ein HDMI anschluss (auf der KVM Switch) und diese Buchse enthält bereits die USB sowie Audio kabeln drin - keine einzelen USB, Audio Ports auf der KVM Switch vorhanden.

The KVM Switch worked very well in my setup which consists of: 1. Mac Mini M1 2. Windows PC 3. Macbook Pro i7 4. Nintendo Switch 2 Things to Note: Audio is provided via the 3mm input jack to the 3mm output via their custom HDMI cables. Because of this I had to connect my Nintendo's Switch via a normal HDMI cable to route sound from the Monitor's audio bypass to my speakers. The USB hub that consolidate the Mouse, Keyboard and the additional USB input into a single USB input (via their custom cable) masks my Steel Series mouse from the Steel Series driver app. Any mouse and keyboard connected via the hub will end up as a "Generic" device. They work as mouse and keyboard, but you will not be able to get your manufacturer's drivers to see the devices. Other than that the setup is great. I have had 2 KVM Switches in the past and this one beats them in terms of quality and ease of use. There is no dropped HDMI signals.
