Great Quality and is Cheap!
Plug & Play ready, no software or anything to install. Works great, long enough power cord & USB-C cable, strong and fast connection. Only issue, and this is on me for not paying attention, is that my PC is setup to put the external drives (what I use the Hub for) to sleep when not active, and to power them off when the PC powers down. The Hub having it's own power source doesn't power them down with the PC and I have to manually turn it off. Maybe there is a way to configure it, but I've only had it a few days so I haven't messed with it yet.

Works just like the other one that I have.
I've had a smaller version of this Atolla for years. I purchased a new NAS device that I needed to add external hard drives to, so I relegated the older smaller edition to the NAS and now have more ports on my Dell OptiPlex PC. Works great and I finally have enough USB ports to keep all my cords connected. It is a good value and seems to run fast like the original one. I also like the extra fast charging port that I use to charge my Garmin (and other things). Works with all my devices.

It saved my computer and attached devices.
I bought this to replace one I blew up. I accidentally send 20 volts @ 6 amps to the usb port on a project I was building that was connected to the hub. Everything fried. Lucky for me the hub protected my $800 computer and everything attached, except my mouse. Small price to pay compared to what could have happened. Bought another hub and in a day everything is back to normal. I am so glad I was using an Atolla hub.

Great for 2.5 years. Then not so great. USB 3 funtionality quit. Still does USB 2
Worked great for 2.5 years. Added 7 USB3 ports to my PC. Seems like everything is USB so I needed extra ports. Sadly, about 6 months ago, USB 3 devices stopped working. They powered up, but no communication. USB 2 devices though, still work, so I suppose it is the internal circuitry. I checked the port it was plugged into on the computer to be sure it was USB 3, and changed to another USB 3 port, but still no USB functionality in the device. I noticed this first when a High quality, 256g USB3 thumb drive quit working. It still worked in a USB 2 port, but had all sorts of errors on the USB3 port. I believe this hub damaged the circuitry in the thumb drive. It no longer works on any USB 3 port, then stopped working on USB2. Then I noticed that none of my USB 3 devices worked on this hub. So I have no proof, but I believe this hub's internal circuitry failed and damaged my thumb drive. So disappointed, because until this incident, this was a great hub. Heavy wiring, came with power supply, worked flawlessly until it didn't. I am considering replacing it with this same model, but not sure. I have 10 year old USB 2 hubs still working well, and I don't know if this brand is an issue, or maybe similar brands have the same chipset and prone to the same issues. If you ask me a year ago, I would of been 5 stars and a hearty recommendation. BTW, the hub is on a UPS system and surge protected. The port it was connected to is on the motherboard, and the port is fine. So it did not damage my PC or port. Since I use a lot of USB 3 devices now, I am going to remove this, as using it as a USB 2 hub is not useful.

Atolla 7-Port USB Hub - Good Performance But Needs A Longer USB Cable
Powered Atolla 7-Port USB 3.0 Hub: Great product that I'm giving a 5-Star rating even though the attached USB cable is a little shorter than I like. I know that this hub is kind of made for a laptop but I have it mounted on the desktop and attached to my PC tower, which is setting on the floor below. So, it's a bit of a stretch. I've placed an Amazon order for a 3' USB 3 extension cable, which should solve any length related issues. But this device is replacing a mostly USB 2.0 7-port hub. I say, mostly, because it had two USB 3 ports on it. I'm much happier having all 7 ports at USB 3. The first "benchmark" that I did was with a Windows Image Backup and the performance was very good. I have not tried to use the side USB port for recharging yet but I'd say that should work okay. It's not really what I bought it for.

An excellent USB extender, but no good way to keep it in place on a desk or mount it on a wall
I am using this to extend one of the two USB 3.0 ports on a Raspberry Pi 4B (the other one contains a memory stick which serves as mass storage. Using the expander on the second port allows connecting up to seven more high-speed devices. Each of the ports on the expander can be switched on and off to avoid having to physically unplug devices; this saves wear on the connectors. There is also a smart charging port, which can also serve as an additional USB port. It is located on one end of the device and does not have an on off switch. An external power supply is provided, which prevents drawing too much power from the Raspberry Pi or other host device. The combined throughput of the ports can't exceed that of the USB port the device plugs into, but it generally works well as long as only one or two devices need to use high bandwidth. Copying the contents of one large USB memory device to another could slow down response from other devices such as a mouse or keyboard. The only unexpected drawback is that the weight of up to seven USB cables tends to turn the device over and pull it off the work surface{The one in the picture was carefully balanced to stay in place.) Perhaps something like Velcro (TM) could be used to hold it down, but mounting tabs or flanges, or a snap-in holder, would be handy. But overall it is a great product and better than any other USB expander I have used so far. Note added after using for one year: I added rubber anti-slip pads on the bottom of the strip, which helps keep it in place. I'm using it with a Lenovo ThinkCentre M73, which has only two USB 3.0 ports (the rest are USB 2.0). I can now plug in up to eight USB 3.0 devices on the extender, and still have one USB 3.0 port free on the computer for anything that needs maximum throughput. I have also successfully used this expander with a Raspberry Pi 4 and a Pi 400, and may buy a second one. I have upgraded my original 4 star rating to 5 stars.
