Not simple to set up
I spent 7 hours trying to get this printer to connect to to sky broad band so I could print. I have been on the phone to brother who blamed sky for the IP address that makes the printer invisible never heard that before. Then on to sky who said it’s not our device and not our issue. Tried google online chat rooms etc. If you want a simple to set up and easy to use printer this one is not for you. No choice but to return.

Not my Brother! Not by a long shot.
It was easier connecting a computer to a printer 30 years ago. It seems printer manufacturers have regressed. Why make things simpler when you can make them infuriatingly difficult? I spent over three hours trying to connect the printer to the computer. In the end I gave up. The printer is being returned and my confidence and trust in Brother is gone forever. I could spend another three hours itemising all the things that are out of whack with reality (and common-sense) with this printer. But I won't.

Solid little printer
Its compact. Prints nicely. The deal offering extra print cartridges sealed my purchase.

Nice printer.
Print quality is good, and easy to set up although remote printing is not so easy. Didn’t realise when I purchased the printer that it was WiFi enabled but not AirPrint enabled - on line help from Brother did not help my particular issues, but finally sorted with help from another on line community. As far as I can understand, all documents, emails etc has to be saved as a file document before it can be printed from the Brother print and scan app.

Compact...
Very compact toner printer which is exactly what was needed in the limited space available. Struggled a bit to get it to work wirelessly as the position it's in is a bit of a blackspot for the wifi but when it does decide to connect it's flawless. Was really looking forward to the wireless aspect of this but might have to just stick with a cable instead. Print quality is good and if it lasts anywhere close to the three years advised I'll be delighted as our old printer just ate up expensive cartridges.

In the modern tech era, this is unforgivably awkward
Print is good, the stack of 'proper' cartridges included is very welcome and the wireless works flawlessly once set-up. You can already hear there's a big 'but' here... but set up and installation are woeful. Brother's support page where the drivers are to be found (via a ludicrously convoluted URL) but attempt to download them and the installer attempts to download a ton of unnecessary bloatware, including a universal driver app that would attempt to take over management of ALL your connected devices. In the end, we chose to google the drivers separately and download from a trusted alternative. Then the machine itself, annoyingly, the promotional images show a neat square self-contained box but it in actual use, you have to have the front flap permanently down with paper sticking out. Samsung's excellent range of similarly compact laser printers instead use a tray system that closes entirely into the body of the printer. Flaps and exposed paper is a messy way of doing thing.

A great marketing angle!
The market for home/office or small office mono laser printers is absolutely cutthroat between mainly HP, Samsung and Brother. I already had a couple of HP's and also a couple of Samsung's working in the office so I was keen to try one of these. In terms of print quality there is nothing to pick between the three, but in terms of running costs this might be ahead of the game. Register the one year warranty on line and they extend it to three years for you - a very long time indeed for a low cost printer. In addition it comes with 5 toner cartridges, each of which is rated at about a 1000 copies, so you can be absolutely certain that it will either last you three years or 5000 copies, whichever comes first. Like most printers it doesn't come with a USB cable, but it does come with wifi connection so strictly speaking you don't need a cable to get going (even if you might still prefer one). It seesm to print faster than either my Samsung or HP models, with the first page starting at about the same time, but the throughput being higher. I am regularly getting 17 pages or so through within the minute, which is frankly astounding. This is a fast and accurate mono laser printer that prints everything 'very black' - much better than an ink jet. Whereas, the toner supplied is obviously top quality, my experience of compatible toners is great and I am confident that in the long term you will be able to save money by buying "copies". This is a great all in one box solution - an excellent marketing ploy and a surprisingly good printer that I am delighted with - good one Brother!

No funciona boton on off. No enciende boton wifi. No reconoce redes al configurar. Despues de 2 horas intentando configurarla la he devuelto. Una pena viene con 5 toners (5000). Ocupa poco, es pequeña. El aspecto de la impresora es mejorable.
