Quick, hard, and trustworthy.
I have used probably a dozen different types of this black white rapid setting epoxy and believe this permatex brand to be one of the best if not the best out of all I have used so far. It mixes well, it flows well and sets up rapidly.

The best epoxy
This is my go-to epoxy for almost everything. It sets up pretty quickly so you need to be ready to put it where it needs to be as soon as you mix the two components. There are things like certain plastics that epoxy doesn't bond to very well but that's going to be a problem with any epoxy. This stuff is extremely hard once it's fully cured.

permatex cold weld
I used this product on my iron fence which split apart after many years of being welded. I did not want to spend hundred of dollars on a welder. So I used this product and so far it looks like it bonded it together and it is holding up.

Worked great
I replaced to top pop off piece that broke in a freeze then after replacing it the brass was split about 1” long on the body. Patched it, let it set overnight and so far it it dry and functional. Easy to use. Drys hard.

Unless you're using it one time DO NOT slop the white hardener on the aluminum threads
3APR21 Great stuff, but only *** This is a very hard, almost glass like, epoxy. I wouldn't use is and expect it to bend. It will probably fracture. That said, I use it often and am very happy with its performance. I have had, on multiple occasions, the white cap on the hardener get stuck on the tube. Apparently the hardener hardens when it's left on the aluminum threads of the tube. This was so much of a problem that I contacted Permatex's Customer Support. They told me that they have never had complaints about it and sent me a replacement kit. It had exactly the same problem. Unless the hardener is kept away from the tube's aluminum threads, after a few weeks sitting, the cap is almost unremovable. There is no similar issue with the resin. Now, every time I buy this stuff, I place a warning label on the kit reminding me to keep the threads on the white hardener clean. A necessary evil, I guess. One other characteristic of this epoxy that I really like is the short, but not too short, set time. The 8 minutes of time to setting turns out to be handy. That coupled with it being on the thicker side allows you to coat surfaces on small parts and obtain good uniformity by moving the part around as it sets. At first this was a little bit of an art, but was easy with a little practice.

Resistant to Ethanol-extended fuels.
I've tried a lot of epoxies. Some quick setting, and some not. The non-quick setting end up stronger after fully curing. Permatex Cold Weld claims to set in 8 minutes - that's not my experience. I'd give it at least 1/2 hour before disturbing the repaired part. Wait at least 16 hours (overnight) before returning the part to service. This stuff, when fully cured, is resistant to almost any liquid, including solvents, you'd commonly find in an automotive shop and man, is it ever strong! I've used it to repair broken-off carburetor float pivot posts, and haven't had a comeback yet. I've molded a repair section onto a broken flange, then sanded it, drilled and threaded it, and it was good as new - at least physically, Cosmetics are a separate issue. I've found Permatex Cold Weld to be more useful to me in more applications than the 800-pound gorilla in this market which I previously used. Good stuff.
