Cloud of Witnesses: A Child's First Book of Saints

Simple quotes from the saints paired with simple but fully colored, solid images of the saints. This is meant to be read to toddlers and babies, in a settling down, maybe bedtime sort of situation. Not the lives of the saints, just their "mottos," but a good meditative read. I LOVE THIS BOOK. Here is why. - When I read books every night to my child before bed, I start to memorize them. After this became our bedtime book, I have quotes of the saints coming to mind all day. I'm hoping in time he will start to memorize them even if he doesn't understand them yet. He already loves this book. - no page is dependent on the page before it for the story, so my toddler can flip to any page he wants and I will read it aloud and it makes sense. - it is a board book - i.e. solid construction for active toddlers. - the imagery is simple but substantial and satisfying, really appropriate for the age range. Engaging for my 18 mo. - the quotes are simple but not dumbed down. Just the simple message. This is my go to book for Catholic baby showers or first birthdays.

I bought this for a baptismal gift and it was received well. The illustrations are beautiful and the quality of the board book is nice. Would definitely consider again to give as a gift

We LOVE this book. It is a board book of saint quotes with simple but engaging images of the featured saints. The quotes are beautiful and convey the virtues you want to instill in your child. This book is not an entry level bio to the saints, as it’s designed to be short and keep the attention span of young kids. I love that they took a different angle and used quotes that capture the essence of the saints lives/teachings that convey the morals and virtues I want to teach my children. The board book is awesome for tiny hands and is more resilient then most saint books that have thin paper pages. The text is not edited to be a reader for children to learn how to read but for family, friends, teachers, siblings, etc to read and share their faith with the young children in their lives. My 16 month old LOVES this book and asks me to read it to him over and over and over again. The bonus to this is he gets to hear amazing virtuous ideals and I’ve memorized several quotes from saints!! Please please please make several volumes of the the Cloud of Witness series!! I love reading these saint quotes with my kiddos and reinforcing and growing in my faith as well!!

This little board book was even better than I expected. The illustrations are simple, yet detailed enough that you can tell who the saint is without reading the name, and they picked some excellent saints. The text makes the book though. Each quote was well chosen, especially for young souls growing up in a world like ours. I was thrilled to find the last part of St. Patrick's Breastplate as well as a prose translation of St. Teresa of Avila's "Nada te turbe". It's not dumbed down, something that I appreciate since so much of my own formal faith formation was intended to be "age appropriate" and ended up being hollow. I look forward to the moments that I get to spend with my daughter teaching her about these godly people and reflecting on their words.

Katie Warner & Meg Whalen hit it out of the park every time. The simple illustrations have just the right amount of detail to teach children the symbols and stories of the saints, and the quotes are actual words from the saints. Buy it for a baby shower, and parents will learn alongside the kids they read it to. Our older kids will read this to the littles and there’s no worries of small hands ripping the pages as it’s a sturdy board book. We love the First Faith Treasury books in our family! We have them in our diaper bag to take to church, at home in our book bin, and we’ve given them as gifts for Baptisms, baby showers, and to our parish for the pews. Snag them all! 💛💛

I love this book! The saints are some that my family already has a connection to, so we had such fun identifying them as we read through. The illustrations are gorgeous--simple, but thoughtful--and the quotes are helpful for parent and child alike to reflect on. I appreciate the quotes not being in toned-down child's language, because it opens the way for conversation. Highly recommend.

Used this book as the card for my nephews baptism. It is a cute book for a brief introduction to saints and Catholicism.

This book is truly a modern, Catholic gem! The art is beautiful, the Saints featured are well thought out, the quality is beautiful and it is a perfect addition to any board book library. So impressed by this purchase - will be buying more for baptismal gifts.

I am delighted with this book! Simple, modern, beautifully illustrated. The packaging was not protective enough. It arrived in a very thin bubble wrap envelope, and as a result, the top and bottom of the spine of the book is damaged.
