Dudely Replacement Key for Mini Cooper 2005 2006 2007, 315/433 MHz Car Key Remote

If you're repairing a dead remote on the original key - this is the way to go, the remote part programs super easily, and the board fits inside my original Mini Cooper keyfob (take note of where the chip is located and oriented in the case before transferring it over, or you could have issues starting your car) If you're creating a duplicate key, this becomes more problematic. I purchased this key so that I could have a spare for my Mini Cooper. It works like a champ, but I also had to purchase a programmer (the AK90), remove the EWS system from my car (only took 10 minutes for that) and use it to program the new key. For systems with EWS 2 or EWS 3 - the process is quite straight forward, and worth the effort to save money. If you have an EWS 4 system - you need to purchase an additional adapter off E-Bay, or you need to solder connectors to your EWS board. I wound up soldering the cable to my EWS 4 board, but it was a stressful experience, and not worth repeating. All told, I saved money over the dealer's $200 quote, but had I known the challenges I'd face, I would have eaten the costs. The customer service was excellent - my first key was misdelivered, and they immediately sent me a replacement that arrived a day later!

So to have the key work or any EWS BMW/MINI key replacement there are 3 things you must overcome 1) program key to EWS with a computer and benching the EWS (this is to allow the key to be used to start) and I did that and programmed the info and VIN to the key 2) program the fob to the locks you do this by sitting in the car closing all the doors and insert the current key in the ignition turning the key to position 2, press and continue to hold the unlock button, remove the key with the unlock button still being held then within 3 seconds while still holding the unlock button press the lock button 3 times and release the unlock button. If done correctly you will hear the car lock and unlock. Now within 5 seconds of hearing the lock and unlock of the car pick up the replacement, hold unlock button and while holding unlock press the lock button 3 times and release all buttons and you should hear the car lock and unlock again and the fob is programmed for unlocking 3) have the key cut, now I read a lot of reviews where people had issues with this, for me not a big issue and the tool to do it is less then 150.00 and some automotive locksmiths in my area have them and only charge $40.00 to cut the key. But with all this said the key doesnt work and fob never would program the board is fault and even when writing the info and VIN to key when I would out the chip up to the key ring on the ignition it would unlock the doors telling me that the immobilizer is rejecting the key, so this does not work with 2005 Mini Cooper R50 as a fob or a key, sorry for the long post but I hope it helps some people. Sending mine in for refund.

This wasn’t as obvious as t sounded. I programmed the buttons easily to block the doors and had to get the key blank cut to match ignition but will not start the engine. They did send a new chip but i think it also needs to be programmed to the immobilizer. Probably would have been easier to just go to the dealer. Cutting the blank keys cost $60.

So far it is working as an extra fob for 2006 mini cooper s convertible. It was easy enough to program as a remote using a youtube video. The first try at it I unprogramamed my original key. Was worried. I tried it again holding closer to the review mirror and it worked for my old and new key. Now I just have to find somebody to cut the key and program it if it needs it to start the car. I will update my review at that time and adjust the stars as needed. No instructions were provided. No comment about why there are two chips??? Would be nice if you could get the Mini logo for it.

Works and lots cheaper than MINI dealer. Used the guts to place in old keys and a little super glue to keep things together. Took a few try’s (timing issues) to get the keys programmed. one WARNING I found a few days later when I went to start the car and nothing happened. Turned out there is something in the old chip part that works with the anti-theft system. Luckily I did not throw away the old insides and put them back in the keys and then cut off the key part of the new blank key and used them as fobs!

I have an 06 Cooper s. Key looks like the correct key, however this one says 433hz and everything I've tried as found online for programming hasn't made it work where as my functioning one states it is 315hz. I don't think this fob works as both as it states. I have also learned in deeper research that even if I could get it to work, it would likely only unlock the car but would not allow it to drive as the key needs to be programmed to the car, thus the mini dealers don't have them onsite and have to order in per vin # . E-mailed the seller but haven't heard back from yet. I likely just got me a weightless paperweight.

Very cheaply made, but a great alternative if you dont want to spend 400$ on an official mini cooper key fob, all I had to do was cut open my original mini key and put the circuits in the new one, i did have to take the transponder out as it was interfering with the circuits

I am extreamly happy with this. My daughter's keyfob stopped working. The info is online on how to program this. I cut the key off and now she has the OEM key and a new fob. Works perfect. Just and FYI the chip is in the original key fob... if you mess with it, it could stop working and you will not be able to start your car.

Great value key compared to going to the dealers, key dies needs cutting separately, programed the key effortlessly. Will be buying another one soon for a spare. Please note you will have to find an independent key cutter as some are not willing to cut the key.

It works. BUT. You have to find an automotive locksmith to cut the key. $50. You have to find someone in the city to program the key to your car. $100.
