I love this book, it covers so many concepts for living conscientiously and sustainably. If you have a small holding, land, or a desire to move to a subsistence life style or off grid, this book is your go to starting point. Covering a range of concepts, from growing food and keeping animals through to building and energy production. It has practical advice that is easy to follow and well written, it’s quite concise but doesn’t make assumptions about the readers knowledge, explaining topics and the importance of key processes without being condescending. Plenty of pictures are used to illustrate the various topics, processes and designs that are available. If I was ever stuck on a dessert island, this would be the book for me!

Just wow👌
Wonderfully written, great explanations with clear pictures. This book is much more than I was expecting and would have ever imagined it to be. It's like an encyclopedia of self efficiency. If you were to start your life from scratch with no electricity. This book is pretty much all you'll ever need as a guide, to create a comfortable and healthy life. Amazing! Just what I was looking for.

A wonderful book
Could not recommend this book highly enough it is BRILLIANT- well laid out, with stunning illustrated pictures. Amazing knowledge to pass on - I have given as gifts to proficient gardening friends and they all came back saying this was an incredible book for setting up a proper vegetable garden with amazing advice on natural methods of dealing with pests and disease. It is AMAZING!

Excellent overview of a huge range of topics.
A great book with an intro into nearly every aspect of self sufficiency most people would be interested in. The topics are rarely delved into in great detail, due to the breadth of the subject matter, but an excellent resource as a broad strokes self sufficiency encyclopaedia. If you were to attempt many of the projects in here I would probably recommend going on to further research, but as an overview for planning purposes and for helping you appreciate the potential to become self sufficient it is excellent. In addition, it is written well, designed well, and produced in a sturdy and pleasing way. I would recommend it.

Nostalgic
It's been a long time since I've had a vibrant book like this. When I was a child I remember the books I used to read and the vibrant illustrations. It's got such a warm feeling I love it. This book will remain with me for a long time. Lots of big picture advise so you can map your head around the process of homesteading. If you know nothing like me it's a great start. It gives you a road map of areas to look into.
