Good stable system
I have bought a lot of these to automate my new home. Do remember that these switches require a dedicated power supply or should I say a dedicated neutral. I’ve added a neutral to each one I’ve installed and they’ve worked great. So far no issues with finding them setting them up with eWeLink & from there Alexei on my dot says they’ve found a new device rather pleasing when she announces that. If like we you occasionally loose broadband/WiFi these switches will reconnect to the network as soon as they can. Unlike some that do just hang & need re-connecting manually. All in all combined with in-line WiFi switches which don’t need a dedicated neutral they make a great system.

Good positive smart switch works well with google
1st and 2nd purchase dates - 21st Jan and 17th Feb 2025 (1gang and 2 Gang) Looks great not as easy to connect to home wi-fi as other smart devices I have 62 in total, but once setup all ok 👍 24-04-2025 Additions When ordering this item again I noticed that on the Amazon Item page in RED it said this item is often returned? which I was surprised by as I have two more of these smart switches, and two of the manufacturer’s smart relays. Yes, I agree that they are a bit of a devil to set up and assume that is why lots of returns. To be honest the Sonoff company are shooting themselves in the foot on this issue! the small leaflet that comes with it (the text is too small to read and not enough information given, it does not refer to these methods 1) how to reset unit, and 2) how to get into Compatibility Mode which I only found out about by going to the web site user manual. Come on Sonoff you can better!

Needs a neutral as well as a live connection
Very smart looking switch controllable by Alexa. Direct replacement for standard rocker switches; it depends on there being a neutral wire connection, so limited to a few locations where this is available. Luckily the circuits I wanted to control had the neutral wire tucked away at the back of the pattress.

Just awful
I couldn't get this to connect to the house Wi-Fi at all - wasted too much time trying to. I switched off all 5Ghz bandwidth so just connecting on the 2... followed all the instructions to the letter (well the small and useless pamphlet) - then clicked on the QR code to see the guide online (not much better), reset the house Wi-Fi, renamed the house Wi-Fi, drank several cups of tea and gave up> Never mind I thought, we can skip google and just use the switches to turn the lights on and off with the touch-insensitive switches. Maybe I have a family of the living dead, but the touch insensitive switches just failed for all of us about 90% of the time - resulting in an amusing (Not) 20 minutes trying to either turn the lights on or off. Happily I returned this switch of the devil and replaced it with something far less frustrating - the SONOFF WiFi Smart Scene Wall Switch - same manufacturer, such a better item and installed and fuly working - Hey google, end this review...

Deep mounting needed
If you look at this and think it’s a good option to provide your home with smart lighting for longer use with normal bulbs, pause. It is easy enough to wire up but even with a 50mm depth for mounting it’s a tight fit. I needed to upgrade form a 40mm box to fit this into a dry wall back box. It’s not this brand alone. I have a single switch from another brand elsewhere that needed to change from a 30mm surface patress box to a 50mm one so this seems like a standard design issue. The fact that I can get smart sockets with no real depth change from a normal socket to me leaves room for improvement. As such this is only really viable as an easy retrofit on dry wall mountings with room for a bigger back box, surface mounting where size isn’t an issue, or if you are lucky on a solid wall where a deep hole was already cut. In my experience that last one is something I have never seen for a light switch where 25-30 mm has traditionally been more than adequate. So to use, once connected it’s been great and 100% reliable. It connected to Alexa easily and with no problems. The only reason I haven’t purchased more is because of fitting depth needs. If they produced a slim line system it would be the perfect retrofit product to reuse current lighting and bulbs that don’t need dimmers. But as it stands unless you have the time and equipment to recut every switch hole, it’s a lot easier and less expensive initially to fit a smart bulb. So if it fits, it is great. If it won’t fit, don’t bother is my advice.

The guts are too big, may not fit in its wall nest
With their app, it's very easy and quick to install. It doesn't work without the neutral wire! Its guts are too big for the UK walls, may not fit. See the pictures!
