One company's bad review - another's opportunity to succeed
By far the most damaged shipment I have ever received on Amazon (100's of orders). 7 Parts were damaged, I probably could have lived with a couple of them by themselves, but 2 of the parts were the MAIN top pieces and had some of the worst damage. Stickers were falling off many of the parts and some of the parts upon opening seemed to be fairly loose inside the package. So why a good review? Instead of having to “send it back” – which would have been pretty much impossible to get back into the box much less lift myself – Amazon directs you to Sauder’s website for replacement parts as an option. Put in the model number, lot number and Amazon order number - from there it is add the broken part numbers and order them. The website to do this is very easy to use and intuitive. They responded back very quickly, within a couple days the pieces were shipped a couple more and the replacements were received. Have run across several other products on Amazon where the ONLY option is to send it back for replacement, which is a major pain on large items, and this is a VERY large item. I was dreading having to send this back but didn't have much of an option after finding all the damaged parts. So I’m giving a good review because I ultimately like the product, but more importantly, Amazon rarely disappoints me with their shipping nor Sauder with their customer service. It probably could have been packaged to survive shipping a little better, and shipping could have definitely handled it more carefully, at the same time this package is 127lb – and you have 1 guy maneuvering it so that might be the nature of shipping something like this (it might be to their benefit to ship this in several smaller packages to prevent damage). I don’t mind so much that mistakes are occasionally made, to me it is more important how they are handled. Could not be happier with how Sauder and Amazon in this regard so they deserve a high mark regardless of the mishap. Desk itself is sturdy and looks really nice. It is particle board – at this price and size, it is what you should expect. Equivalent real wood desks would be many times the cost. Looks just as nice as real wood but surfaces WILL damage much more easily than real wood - that is just the trade off you sign up for. Structure itself is going to hold up for a very long time - I've never had any issues with the longevity of Sauder products in that regard. As long as you treat the surfaces nicely - you won't have any reason to want to replace it for a very long time. Additional Sauder’s story… I also once owned an entertainment center I had for probably 4 years at the time. While moving, the moving guys set a 300lbs tv (CRTV Sony WEGA, was as big as CRTV’s got) right on the lip and it gouged into the wood piece. I called Sauder’s and asked if I could buy a replacement piece. They said they would just send me a replacement. I explained again that it was by no means their fault and I had called to PURCHASE a part, and they insisted on simply sending me a replacement free of charge. I have a lot of respect for the integrity and how they treat customers. Look forward to adding to my list of good experiences with them in the future.

Sturdy, Large, Easy to Assemble
This item is very heavy when it arrives but not too bad when the weight is distributed. It is very large and easy to assemble. I was able to do this on a couple of hours by myself. Some folks may need two people to be on the safe side . The quality of this desk is wonderful. It was also perfectly aligned and no missing or broken pieces. The gray finish with the black top is perfect. I absolutely love this desk. The drawer is big enough to fit what I need with some space for other items. I also love the additional space it has on the other side. This desk gives you the modern and professional looks without being super expensive. It is worth every penny. I've had this desk for a little over 2 years and it's still as new as the day I received item.

Solid desk, able to solo build, friends recommended though.
I ordered this item in September, and it has been a month. It seems sturdy enough and though I don't really push the boundaries of the item in question to see if it can tolerate more, it functions well. Here's the rundown of a (mostly) one-person setup: Tools (4.5/5): It really only requires some screwdrivers. Easy in that regard. Weight (3/5): The box is pretty darn heavy. I may be strong, but 2 man lift may be required for stairs and distances. Time to assemble (3/5): It took me about 4 hours (with a half-hour break) to put this together - Ironically the same amount of time that the delivery guys also quoted. Ability to put back into box (1.5/5): Unless you took pictures and are a professional mover, this desk is going to more than likely never fit into the box the same way - the pieces are a perfect Jenga puzzle coming out. I doubt that it will matter unless you're military or prone to moving a lot (I was once). Ease of one-man assembly (4/5): Ultimately, while the assembly may take a while, and the larger pieces are a bit on the heavier side for small folks, the majority of the desk can be put together fairly easily. You may find that an odd part here or there needs to be reversed (the instructions are pretty good, but the parts could do with a *touch* better labeling), I would recommend a second (or third) person when putting the purse desk on - It's held by slotting pieces together, along with a pair of metal brackets, and while it may be possible with a single person and their four limbs, having folks keep it level while you screw things in will expedite the process immensely. Other notes: I've purchased Sauder desks before, so I knew about the assembly quirks ahead of time - my other desk with a hutch I've had for over 10 years now, and while the veneer paper on the particle board is coming off, and one of the screws has stripped on the keyboard tray, *that* desk has done fairly well, given that it has been assembled, disassembled, and moved over twenty times now - for those not as mobile, the desks are fairly hefty and sturdy. With that said, I'm not a fan of the drawer - mine tends to stick, and the ring to pull it out is sturdy enough, though I never feel I get a good pull with it. The purse desk's attachment brackets and setup may come across as weak to some, though I do feel that might just be more of a trick of the mind. Overall, a solid desk with a nice, plain appearance - it houses quite a few books, my speakers, tower, and monitor, with keyboard, joystick and microphone without remotely blinking an eye, so I give it a good rating for those who may have a friend to help put it together.

A few flaws, but perfect for me.
I absolutely love this desk. I accepted a work from home position with a new company and needed a desk for my home office. It’s a beautiful desk and good quality for the price. Some down sides are that some pieces didn’t fit quite like they should, some pieces wanted to split while screwing them together, and there’s a small scratch on the desk top. Also, where the two sides of the top come together, it’s not flush because of the rounded edge of one side. The shelf on the right side is not the strongest or very wide, so you can’t put heavy objects on it. That aside, I am very happy with this purchase. If taken care of, this desk will last for a long time. I’ve read some people upset because the desk is not tall enough. I’m 5’4” and it’s the perfect height for me. I can cross my legs and not bump my knees with an inch or two to spare. The box is very heavy. It takes two people to lift it. It does take two people around 2 hours to put together. The delivery was great too. I have steps up to my house, and they brought the package up and left it on the covered front porch. The box had been re-taped, but all of the pieces were there and nothing was damaged. I would highly suggest this desk to anyone. I absolutely love it.

This is a great desk and looks great in my office.
I am very happy with this desk. I didn't have any problems putting it together. I worked on it about 2 hours the night it arrived and my husband helped me with the final assembly the next day for about a hour and a half. None of the pieces were damaged. Some small pieces of trim were not labeled but it was pretty easy to figure out where they went. The desk is very substantial and looks great. I did get a tiny scratch on the top surface but as someone else suggested a quick swipe with a fine point sharpee took care of that. I don't get the people who gave the desk a poor rating based on the fact that for some reason they expected a $200.00 desk to be solid wood or not need assembled. If you want a $1,000 desk you need to pay that for it. This is a great desk for the price, It looks terrific in my office and it's very functional. I have lots of surface area, a drawer and what they call a purse shelf but what my cats call a cat shelf.

Great Desk
I spent weeks trying to find a desk that was more than just a metal frame with a top. I wanted a desk that had some storage ability, with functionality. This desk has a hanging file drawer, with a small cubbie shelf above it, with an underneath small shelf on the right side. I am using this desk as an office/gaming desk, so the drawer can hold some folders with various manuals and some of the extra cables. The cubbie shelf holds some extra computer fans and parts, and the small underneath shelf holds my PC UPS. The desk is very sturdy, and I love the slate look of the desktop. It does take a while to put together, and even noted in the instructions, but I took my time with it and it looks great. This desk replaced a 20 year old corner desk I had and for me was the perfect upgrade with plenty of desktop space. Worth the money, and I would definitely purchase again.

Wonderful Desk; bad price
Love the desk. It is made well and was fairly easy to put together. It holds my entire gaming rig (about 30 pounds for the tower, another 10ish for the monitor, both of my oculus sensors, plus my surface pro and router, two pairs of headphones, and my watch and phone on the surface of the desk). I have more room, really, than I need right now, but will eventually be transitioning to a dual monitor setup, which this desk has afforded me the room to do so. Only downside of the desk itself: I put my monitor on the shorter end where the shelf is and have to watch my knees, which isn't too big an issue; I can always take it out of I find it being an issue. So why 3 stars? I got this desk about $100 off the regular price of $250, which is definitely not a bad price. However, at the time of writing this review, it is down to almost $130 off and Amazon refused to give me a post-purchase price adjustment. It is officially one week and one day since I ordered this desk (well within the return policy), and if it weren't already built, I would probably return it and reorder it for the better price.

Great desk
I love this desk. The quality is great, especially considering the price. It looks more expensive than it actually is. It was relatively easy to assemble and the directions were clear. Happy with my purchase!

Easy but lengthy process to assemble
Despite how long it took me to put this masterpiece (as I like to call it) together, I still love it to bits and give it 5 stars. The quality of the kagillion pieces are pleasing. The instruction manual which seemed like it never ended were so detailed and logical. I don't even recall spelling or grammar mistakes like most instruction manuals. So, everything made sense to me - easy peasy! It is very durable and looks so sophisticated. I have no regrets with such a great table top that looks marble/granite-like. It is also a very strong and heavy piece, easy to clean. I like the drawer, the nook above the drawer, and the additional side shelf. Great storage and a sleek design. Well worth the time and money for me. I just wished I actually checked out when I intended to get it at the under $400 price. I loved the look of it so much, I couldn't wait longer for the price to go down because it "sold out" often, too.

Beautiful and Excellent Quality!
The desk was easy to assemble. The directions were easy to follow. I was extremely pleased with the sturdiness and quality of the desk. I didn’t want something that would fall apart easily but I didn’t want to spend a fortune. I am 100% satisfied with the purchase and would recommend to anyone.

Nice desk
The desk finish is very nice. It looks like solid oak with a marble top. It is not the best design for a home office, though. It does not have a keyboard tray, so I purchased one separately. It also does not have a drawer for pens and pencils and things. I like the file drawer, but a second drawer instead of a shelf would be more practical. It came in one box that is too heavy for one person to lift and the delivery guy dropped it and damaged one corner of the top of the desk.

Solid quality - nice looking desk
Pretty solid desk for particle core. Very nice looking with the dark grey top matched with the wood look.
