Sheena Knowles's upbeat, rhyming text and Rod Clement's expressive illustrations are sure to make readers laugh out loud. Over 100 5-star reviewers agree: "A wonderful book with a wonderful message: be yourself!""If you buy one book for sheer fun, there's no question it should be this one. " —San Diego Union TribuneTired of his life as an emu, Edward decides to try being something else for a change. He tries swimming with the seals, he spends a day lounging with the lions, and even slithers with the snakes. But Edward soon discovers that being an emu may be the best thing after all. This picture book is an excellent choice to share in the classroom or at home—both adults and kids will laugh at and sympathize with Edward the Emu. Review: Hilarious - a sure winner! - This book is hilarious and the drawings are perfect! I love the way the Emu expresses each emotion in its face! Great! Review: Not very useful - I bought this as part of our study unit about Australia. Kids wanted to learn about Australian animals. But it was not very useful at all, because the choice of animals depicted is random, from any continent and habitat (the story happens at the zoo), there was no real insight into Australia. No educational angle in this book. It would be much more useful a book such as “Have you seen my egg” in which the emu interacts with local endemic animals, it just adds an extra learning element that I personally find valuable. Returned.

One of my favorite books!
I love this book! It used to be a childhood favorite of mine and I read it over and over. I recently bought it for my 3 month old and can’t wait to make it a classic in our home as well. The story is so cute and the artwork is really interesting and unique! Make sure and get “Edwina the Emu” as well!

Lovely story with a wonderful moral
Edward the Emu learns a valuable lesson about being himself. The text rhymes, making the canter fun to read. The illustrations are wonderful and the children love Edward's adventures in finding out that he is perfect just the way he is. I read this to my grade one students every year. The second book to this title is Edwina the Emu, also lovely, but the original is without a doubt the best.
