Review: Must have for first year pg students - If you didn't buy it in your mbbs then must buy in first year only as it really helps you to learn techniques in histopath, contains chapter on each basic thing used on daily basis in routine histopath. To know better whats going on other side of the glass (technician part) one should read this book. Review: This edges past Bancroft in terms of practicality... - This is one amazing book and deserves wide scale circulation among junior residents and fresh PG passouts in particular (to "re-visit" those topics which might have been learnt by rote while mugging those notes made from the Bancroftian bible :))..Have gone through the chapters on fixation, tissue processing and decalcification till now and found the topics exhaustively discussed, yet simple enough to remember as well as relevant to the Indian scenario. This is possibly the "home-grown" histotechnique text with the maximum amount of information brought out in the last 2-3 years (felt after having gone through two of the other competitor indigenous texts). Gripes exist though.. the font is extra small and might annoy those with not-so-keen eyesight. Also, provision of full colour plates format throughout is expected for a text of this kind. Cost cutting done here. The publisher needs to take note of this . Lastly, IMHO, no text on histotechniques is equally well-accessible across the entire gamut of topics. Which is why having a second text to look up those hard-to-grasp chapters is advisable. I found that out in microtomy ( bevel angle, angle of clearance etc) where Dr. Shameem Shariff's text ( that one's nice too) was of help. Most importantly, Carson's Histotechnique still holds it's fort among all of these works. Get that one too (if you can afford it:), I got a used copy for cheap).

Poor Man's Bancroft
Yeah....it is good...The language is same as that of Bancroft. If u can't afford Bancroft then this book is like Poor Man's Bancroft. Good for lab practice.

This book is excellent for getting ready for your HT/HTL Board Exams. Actually this book covers all of the areas from the HTL/HT General outline study guide that you can download from their website. I just wish that the photos in the book were in color!
