Homestyles Buffet of Buffets Cottage Oak Buffet with Hardwood Top

We were VERY surprised at the quality of this piece. My family couldn't believe that I paid only $450 (incl tax) for it. I have looked all over for something to go with my oak kitchen cabinets but I didn't want to spend $1000 or more. While this item is slightly darker than our medium oak cabinets it works. We had few problems putting it together (patience!) & the doors & drawers line up nicely. It is very heavy with a feel & look of quality. On a side note we ordered the matching table set & it was a much different color as the reviewers state it's very cherry colored. Such a shame when they describe it as a cottage oak finish as well. This piece does not have a drop of red or cherry to the color. I was very pleased to find my large serving pieces (trays, bowls) fit perfectly in the lower cabinet area (buffet) & the hutch also allows for a decent amount of glassware. I was also able to put a nice sized plant & a few decorations on top (just be sure to protect from water). I am so pleased to find a piece that adds to our kitchen & it also adds a ton of storage.

Real wood! For the price I expected to have some of the inner parts be composite, but surprisingly it was all wood. Assembly took me about an hour, however, I thought the main surface was missing. I called the number in the box and a lady answered so quickly that I was shocked as I was expecting to have to go through the phone button dance to speak with someone. The lady informed me that the buffet ships in three packages (at this point I had already received two). And sure enough the third piece showed up the same day. This buffet is heavy once assembled and has a solid look and feel. I would expect to see something like this in a furniture store with a cost closer to $1000. The drawers are solid, and the cabinet doors feel substantial when opening and closing. They cabinets are retained with internal magnets which have a positive engagement when closed. You will need to assemble this, but take your time and read the instructions. The instructions are well written with multiple views for some steps eliminating confusion. This has some barrel nuts and twist pins similar to what you find with IKEA furniture. Once assembled the buffet does not squeak or rattle when jostled. My only regret is not looking at some of the other options for this buffet before buying because there are several combinations I could have chosen from.

This dining hutch is beautiful and solid; very happy I purchased it! It’s a quality furniture piece (and therefore quite heavy) with good hardware. I got a little frustrated trying to put it together by myself because it’s large and as you put it together on one side, sometimes pieces that weren’t secured yet would pop out on the other, so having a helper just to hold it in place and to help align the holes as you put the larger pieces on is recommended. The packaging was really well done to ensure no pieces were damaged, but I agree with another reviewer that there were tiny “hairs” or slivers almost like insulation fibers that got everywhere and I wore a mask while taking it out because I didn’t want to breathe it in. There are three pre-drilled levels for placing the shelf in the upper cabinets. No matter where you place that shelf, the overall upper cabinet clearance is not tall enough to accommodate two levels of full-size wine glasses, so you’ll need stemless or shorter tumblers for one level. Finally, I should have paid more attention but didn’t realize the hutch top was a different, lighter wood color. Had I known that I would have gone with stainless steel for that top piece, but that’s my own fault for not fully reading the description. It doesn’t look bad, just not what I expected so I’d encourage you to pay attention to the different options.

PROS: Nice solid wood and color and is perfect for our log home Great storage We previously ordered just the buffet and now the second buffet with the hutch match perfectly! CONS: The cam lock and screw method for assembly is a HUGE FAILURE as the holes to accommodate the cam lock are carved out too wide and too deep. They just spin and spin and spin and DON'T LOCK. Due to the above issue we had to assemble it multiple times as when going through the steps and having to turn the product, the whole thing collapses. So it's back to Step #1 again!

This buffet server exceeded my expectations! 1) To start with, it was the most carefully packed and ready to assemble furniture product I’ve ever purchased. Each piece was individually wrapped with styrofoam in between; nothing was damaged or scratched. 2) The buffet is actually a hard wood as described. 3) The instructions are detailed and clear and yes, it did take most of the day to assemble by myself. 4) After assembly, it was solid and sturdy - looks perfect in my dining room. I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase Home Styles brand again for other furniture needs!

This item comes in 3 boxes, 2 of them quite heavy (75 and 113 pounds). Some minor damage occurred to the packaging in transit, but the item was packed well enough that no damage occurred to it. The buffet and hutch are made of good materials (solid wood), and all the predrilled holes and whatnot were are the right places so that assembly went well. It does take about 4 hours to put together. It's very solid and straight and looks really good for a piece of assemble it yourself furniture. The color is a little darker/redder than the picture.

This is a beautiful piece of furniture! It took about 3-4 hours to assemble and wasn't too difficult. The quality of materials is excellent and sturdy. We went from having just a lower cabinet to this, so having the upper shelving/storage is wonderful! All of the drawers slide in and out well, and the cabinet doors all open and close fine. We have a small microwave and a 30 cup percolator on it and there is still enough room to prepare a cup of coffee or put a plate of cookies out. We are very happy with this purchase!

This is our third Home Styles purchase. It's a great-looking piece, and I would say that the finish looks even nicer than in the photo. Sturdy, real wood for all the major parts. Good instructions, clearly labeled parts, hardware separated into individual bags (very helpful). Excellent value. It took 4-5 hours to put together.
