By Far the Best Epilator I've Ever Used
I'm 64 years old. I remember the first electric epilator, a gadget with a coiled spring that rotated. It was by far the most painful epilator I've ever used, leaving my legs red and feeling like they were on fire! Fast forward 40 years, and you have the epilators with fast moving tweezing mechanisms. These are light-years ahead of that first epilady. I've owned several brands, including (but not limited to) Remington, Emjoi, and several unknowns. I chose the Philips based on brand reputation and price. Firstly, this isn't made for the face. I have a Remington that I use for my face. I've used this, and others, on my arms, legs, and recently, my armpits. Look ladies, yanking out hair by the roots hurts. There is no such thing as a painless epilator. But, some are much better than others. The Philip's is by far the least painful that I've used. I think it may lay in tweezer design. The Philip's epilator is much better at pulling out the hair, rather than breaking it off. As odd as it sounds, it's a lot less painful to get the hair out by the root than breaking it off. I've just used it for the second time on my armpits, something I was hesitant to to. I've had 2 rotator cuff surgeries on each shoulder (4 surgeries in 2 years), so lifting my arms up high is an issue for me. Add in the fact that I have folds, and it seemed like a recipe for getting a painful pinch. But, to my surprise, the Philip's epilator did a magnificent job, taking 1/2 the time it takes me to use an electric shaver, with superior results. The shaver never got all of the hair. The Philip's does. With my shoulders being so painful, and other problems, including a plate in my back and in my neck, shaving is a painful chore that I hate and Unfortunately, I have a lot of hair. The Philip's epilator gets the hairs out by the roots, without having to go over and over the area. It's effective in 1 swipe, but I overlap by 1/2. On a pain scale of 1-10, 10 being the worst pain you can experience, I'd rate it at 2-2.5. Surprisingly, it's least painful in my armpits. If you can make your skin taut, you hardly feel it. Battery longevity is really good. I can use it on both arms, both legs, both armpits, 4-5x before recharging. Charging is fast. It'll recharge in just 30-45 minutes from almost depleted. I don't let it entirely stop. You'll notice a slow-down. Recharge it then. I've been using the Philip's since early October, 2024. Unfortunately, someone threw out a box that it was in, so I reordered. I didn't hesitate to order the Philip's again, even though I could have chosen a different brand.

Best I’ve ever used
I’ve only used this product on my legs a few times. It’s quite painful, but I believe regular use would be beneficial. Now, I use it on my face, mainly my chin. The face is quite sensitive, so I don’t recommend using it on your jawline or around lips. It can cause bumps or pimples. However, I use it on my chin and under chin area above neck because I have a lot of hair growth, and it works well. I’m glad I bought this product. It’s satisfying to see all the facial chin hairs that it pulls from the root. It does grow back, but not as quickly. The product is effective because the blades are sharp and very fast, which is what you need for a good hair pull. I highly recommend it. It’s also rechargeable and the charge lasts a long time. I’ve charged it to be safe but it’s never shut down on me. This is a quality product that u highly recommend.

Both exceeds expectations and disappoints
This is my first epilator, but I remember the original coil-style (which seemed dreadful in every respect). This is pretty nice. I like the ceramic tweezer discs. Pros: Works on shorter hairs than I expected. Less painful than I expected (yes, it stings, but it really is less painful after a shower and with repeated use. Lower legs MUCH less painful than thighs.) I thought the light was a gimmick but it really is useful. Overall much easier experience than expected. Cons: While it seems to mostly pull hairs, it does break some percentage. I am (only) moderately hairy, but I seem to need to epilate again after about 4 days. The hair is sparser, but definitely there. It’s never as much stubble as 4 days after shaving, but my legs are never as perfectly smooth and hairless as they would be immediately after shaving. Even immediately after epilating. (Although epilating then shaving is exxxtra smooth.) Maybe this is my hair growth patterns, maybe I am trying to epilate when the hair is too short, maybe it’s breakage. But this is ongoing for a month or two now: by about 4 days it’s time to epilate again. So the up-to-4 weeks marketing is a joke. However, even if I’m doing maintenance almost as often as shaving, there’s somewhat less regrowth in the intervals. In summary, it’s a better-than-expected tool with features worth the price, discomfort level is perfectly tolerable on an on-going basis, but the results are a bit disappointing. I will most likely continue to use it and I don’t regret the purchase.

Love that its cordless
I’ve been epilating for years. My last three have been the emjoi with 72 tweezers, so two rollers of tweezers. I couldnt find it again to purchase when my last one broke and started looking at others and reviews. When it comes to the pain of epilation that is very subjective! It still stings some but I don’t find it painful anymore. I’ve just got used to it over time. It’s definitely better when the hair is shorter. Maybe 1/8 of a inch or a little more and make sure you’ve had a hot shower. It opens the pores up more. Plus put some kind of powder (baby powder) on the area you’re epilating. It makes the skin smoother for the epilater to glide on and it can show the hairs a little more. Anyway, I decided to try this phillips and I love it. I’ve only used it once so I’m not sure about the life of it. The emjoi only lasted a year to year and a half before it started messing up. But I love that it is cordless! It made the process better for me to maneuver when doing the bikini area and I do a full brazilian. I liked having just the one roller of tweezers. It made getting in there more effective and faster actually versus that bigger emjoi. I liked that it is lightweight and feels good in your hand. Something I was apprehensive about buying a cordless model was the battery strength and longevity. But it lasted through my brazilian and under my arms without losing any power. It was consistent throughout. Like I said , I’ve only used it once so only time will tell. I’ll update in a few months. I also liked that you can rinse the head off under water. I dont like epilating in the shower though. It’s a smoother process with powder. Also, when you take your hot shower beforehand, don’t forget to exfoliate. It helps. I also like to use “FUR” oil for ingrown hair right afterwards and everyday to prevent ingrowns, at least for the bikini area. Keeping the skin hydrated and supple allows the hair to push through better.

obsessed
i recently started shaving again and have quickly remembered how annoying it is lol. i love feeling smooth but my hair grows so fast that i'm stubbly again by the next day which drives me crazy. i've tried waxing at home, but it's such a messy and tedious process. i finally decided to give one of these a try and i'm so glad i did! this thing means business!! i'm totally sold on it. i may just have a slightly higher pain tolerance than average, but i really don't find it to be that painful. i think the people in other reviews saying it hurts so bad that they need to get tipsy to use it (or can't use it at all) must have an incredibly low tolerance to pain. it definitely hurts a bit more than waxing, so if you can barely handle getting waxed then i wouldn't recommend this, but if you have no problem with waxing i don't think you would find this to be that much worse. it's so much easier and simpler than waxing at home, and the results last just as long. it's really easy to get the hang of it when you follow the instructions (move it slowly and against the grain of hair growth, and keep it upright, roughly at a 75 degree angle). i was a little nervous to use it on the armpits since the skin there is more sensitive than the skin on the legs, but it honestly wasn't bad at all for me! one thing i will say, though, is that it is VERY painful using it on the face / upper lip area lol. there's no sugarcoating that part, i knew it was gonna be bad but i could barely get through it. i will say that the little precision guide you can attach to it makes it a lot easier to target that area so you can get it over with quickly. another thing to note, as mentioned in some other reviews, is that the device just spits the hairs out instead of collecting them. i'd definitely recommend using it in the shower so you can rinse the hairs down the drain, or at least be prepared to have to sweep all the hairs up off the floor when you're done (or don't, you do you). all in all, if you've never tried one of these and you can handle the pain/discomfort level of waxing just fine, i recommend it for sure! i don't think i'll be going back to shaving or waxing anytime soon (^

Horrible mistake
I was excited to try this and was a huge mistake. Im writing this review about 10 months after I purchased this and used it. So first of all, I had to go over each area a minimum of 5 times to get the hair removed. I was extremely red afterwards which was expected. The reason I hate this and do NOT recommend is it messed up my legs so bad and I'm still recovering 10 months later. The ingrown hairs were/are everywhere. Bumps out the wazoo. I haven't been able to show my legs since used....no shorts, no dresses. And yes I exfoliate afterwards like recommended. As far as reviews I read before purchasing where people were complaining about the pain.....the "pain" is minimal awareness. If you still want to try this and risk fn up your legs, I don't think it hurts, if you ever pushed out a baby, got a tattoo, or a piercing then this is nothing

My new best friend!
This is my third epilator that I've had since I began epilating. The last two were Emjoi corded epilators. I forget the name of the first one but the last one was an Erase. The Erase had been a very good epilator (at least I had thought it was) and lasted quite awhile, but a couple of weeks ago the gears gave out I think and the head stopped spinning. Uh-oh, time to find a new epilator! I had always avoided cordless models because I was always fearful that the battery wouldn't last for a whole epilation session, but knowing that battery technology has improved quite a lot the last few years, I decided to take a leap into the waters of cordless epilators. From the first moment I started epilating with this epilator, I new it was going to be a game changer for me. It is incredibly efficient in it's hair removal, maybe it's because of the ceramic blades, but I could tell immediately that I wasn't going to have to go over the same areas over, and over, and over to get the hairs. It literally wastaking 2-3 passes and it was getting practically all the hairs! Now about that led light! With the Erase it would never fail that no matter how hard I tried to get everything, the next day I would end up seeing a patch of hair somewhere that it seemed I had completely missed! The light on this completely surprised me. I thought it would be nice, but not terribly useful but girl was I wrong. The light really shows the hairs that haven't been removed so the likelihood of missing hairs (as long as your thorough) are much less. Other things I noticed is that it's much quieter than the Erase was. Also, instead of tiny plastic gears to drive the head, this unit uses a driveshaft system which feels like it will last a lot longer than the gears would and that's a big plus in my book! See photos. Another plus is that everything with the Erase took longer so I tended to not epilate as often but with this one's ease of use I find that I epilate some every night and I can tell that I am going to be much smoother on a day to day basis that I was with the last two epilators I owned! As far as cons go...... I do really wish it would operate in corded as well as cordless mode because the battery will definitely fail eventually and then it will probably have to be discarded which is really unfortunate. Another con is the charger is a little difficult to plug in. A charge dock would have been a real plus for this sleek little epilator. So yeah, I guess that's it. In the end I guess I would say that if you have reservations about spending this much on an epilator I would say get over it because this unit represents really good value. This is a serious tool for anyone interested committed to hair removal.
