Can you use this with an apple laptop?

I believe it’s meant to be used with one. It’s just a usb plug in so should be able to use it with anything.

how do you do copy and paste with the keyboard?

Isn't it control C to copy . And control V to paste.

Can the keyboard and mouse be used separately? I want to use the keyboard at work and the mouse at home.

There is only one USB dongle for the pair. So, you would not be able use each separately at different locations.
