This is one of those purchases that is very surprising, in a good way. Was expecting this to be an Amazon special and rather average. This is a fairly well designed and built safe. Heavy and solid. Lock mechanism works well and the key backup is a great idea. Surprising amount of room inside. I would put the security level of this at 5 out of 10. Great for ammo and equipment storage but I wouldn't rely on it for handgun storage. Would highly recommend!

Nice size safe and relatively easy to install (although supplied hardware is only usable for certain installations)

This is a solid, basic safe for the price. It’s easy to set up, the electronic keypad works well, and it’s convenient for storing documents, cash, and small valuables. The size is good for home use, and mounting it adds extra security. That said, it’s not a heavy-duty or fireproof safe, so I wouldn’t use it for high-value items. It’s best for everyday protection and organization rather than maximum security. Overall, it does the job well for what it’s designed for and offers good value for the price.

Let’s start with the kind of safe it is. It’s a 1/8” plate steel safe; it is not fireproof. It is idiot proof, however. It has a key as well as a keypad to secure the door and your possessions. It has anchors, which are suitable for concrete, block or brick. It has predrilled 3/8” holes in the back and on the bottom. The bottom holes are perfect to put lag bolts through and secure to the floor. This safe will stop your kids, grandkids, friends of the aforementioned and punks who break in while you’re vacationing. A “pro” could surely defeat it, so if you’re expecting Fort Knox for just over $100.00, you’re not going to get it and probably never will. I have had big rifle vaults which are pricey but effective. I would tell anyone looking to protect their loved ones, secure your pistols, some jewelry and some other items buy at least one! The craftsmanship is outstanding, the locking mechanism is strong and has two 5/8” bolts to secure the door. The hinges are recessed from the door opening, so you’re not getting into it quickly, without tools. I forgot to mention there’s a small shelf about 4” from the top, which is my ammo shelf. Amazon Basics Home Security Safe is Solid for basic protection. The steel build and electronic keypad offer decent security for valuables like documents and small electronics. Easy to mount, includes backup keys, but it’s not fireproof or waterproof. Great value if you need simple, affordable home security.👍

Needed to buy a cabinet safe and looked on Amazon. I found this Amazon Basics steel safe and at £100 thought it looked like a great entry level safe. Took the risk of purchasing and since it arrived I have not had any issues. Everything was in the box, nothing missing, no damage to safe either. The electronic keypanel for setting up a code (3 to 8 digits) was extremely easy to follow. Also the two safe keys supplied worked fine. They are initially a little tight to push in but if you're gentle enough shouldn't have any problems gaining access to the safe if the batteries for the electronic side are exhausted. The only downside I found is that the electronics of the keypanel entry does protrude into the safe space which means you can't place items too far forward towards the safe door as the keypanel housing pushes on to your stored items. However I can live with that. For the price it is value for money and a wonderful entry level safe. Of course burglars could steal it if not secured to wall or floor, they could carry it away, even though it is heavy. For me just nice to have that extra layer of security on items that need protecting.
