I’ve been using The Ordinary Sulphate 4% Cleanser for Body and Hair for a few weeks now, and it’s quickly become a staple in my routine. It strikes a really nice balance between being effective and still feeling gentle on both skin and scalp. The formula lathers well without feeling overly stripping, which is something I’ve struggled to find in multi-use products. My hair feels clean and refreshed without that dry, squeaky feeling, and my scalp has been noticeably less irritated. As a body wash, it does a great job of cleansing without leaving my skin tight or uncomfortable. I also appreciate how simple and fragrance-free it is—perfect if you’re sensitive to strong scents or just prefer a more minimal approach to skincare. It feels like a no-nonsense product that actually delivers on what it promises. Another big plus is the versatility. Having one product that works well for both hair and body is ideal for travel or streamlining your routine without compromising on quality. Overall, a reliable, gentle cleanser that does exactly what it says—great for everyday use, especially if you want something straightforward, effective, and kind to your skin and scalp.

Absolute. Freakin. Godsend. Extremely high quality, leaves my hair nice and soft and moisturised. Good value for money if you don't mind dishing out a little extra. One bottle lasts about a month and a half of washing my hair 3-4 times a week.

Not sure I would buy this again as it dries my hair. It is not that it was expensive for the size but that it is not as gentle as it suggest. I would skip this and try other brands.

So glad I started using the ordinary shampoo. Well worth the money

I love this. It's not fancy and doesn't foam alot, but does the job. It worked perfectly on a reent trip in my campervan when I needed to be reserved with water while washing my hair. Despite not foaming much, and therefore being easy to wash out, it left my hair soft and glossy.

Not for Me

This was my second time buying this shampoo. I loved it the first time, but it's now leaving my scalp feeling incredibly dry. I'm not sure if the formula has changed. I only use it once every 3/4 washes but I won't buy again for my hair. It works great as a body cleanser though - I've seen a reduction in the strawberry skin on my arms.

I wasn't sure what to expect with this shampoo based on the varied experiences described in the reviews, but I decided to give it a shot anyway and am sooo glad I did!!! I have an extremely dry scalp year-round. Most shampoos just exacerbate the dryness and itchiness. Surprisingly, despite how well this shampoo cleans my roots and scalp, somehow it doesn't dry either out. It simply rinses away the flakes and even keeps them at bay for days, and I've also noticed that my scalp feels so much less itchy. Like most other reviewers noted, this product is super thin and runny and doesn't lather up very much, so you will likely use a lot more than you would with regular shampoo or body wash. Knowing this, I lather up my scalp and let it sit for a few minutes to allow it to run through to the ends of my hair while I clean the rest of my body. That seems to help use less product while ensuring that all of my hair gets hit with the soap. The bottle is tiny but thankfully low in price and worth every penny and more. This is def my go-to from now on!

Love The Ordinary products. Great value for quality products. I used as a shampoo. It has no scent, light lather, very gentle product that is moisturizing. Helped with the thinning of my hair.
