MUST BE EXCELLENT QUALITY
Ordered this for a friend who lives on a boat without heat. Haven't heard from him since he got it. Assume he's snuggied down in it, hibernating until Spring, so have to assume it's doing the job for him .

Nice and versatile bag.
This is a very well thought out sleeping bag and I like the fact it's 100% recycled. Yes it keeps me warm to the rated temps. Spot on or a little better. I sleep warm. The double zippers are a hit in my book. Yes it is a larger bag but you can move around in it's like nothing. For the money and quality this bag is great.

Toasty warm
I finally got to use this sleeping bag up in the white mountains NH I did the presidential traverse 2 days 32 miles . My knees still hurt. It’s early fall here and we got lucky. 1st nite we stealth camped in tents and only got down to about 40F ( that’s nothing in the whites ) 2nd nite we slept on a platform without tents and temps stayed in the 40’s all nite and morning . Bag kept me to warm . I had to unzip a few times to cool off . I would totally bring this on a colder hike . It’s a little heavy & packs kinda big for backpacking. But will definitely keep you warm . I dig it

Wide shoulder area for those who need it
Nice wide bag, I had originally ordered A different brand and couldn’t get the zipper to close at my shoulders, seems warm from my limited testing inside. I would definitely go with a tall I’m just a touch over 5’10” and I don’t have all that much extra room at the feet. Also the long bag gives you extra width. It’s very light also

Very high quality sleeping bag!
This sleeping bag lives up to the high quality that I expect from Sea to Summit. I ordered this bag in the Regular size and 30°F insulation. Here are my initial observations in testing this bag. First, I am 5' 10" tall, and the Regular size just fits. When my feet are all the way down in the foot box, my head is all the way up in the hood. It's basically a perfect fit. That means that if you're ANY taller than me, you probably want to consider the Long version of this sleeping bag, which adds another 6 inches to the length. Second, this bag provides many high end warmth and comfort features. Most notably, there's a draft collar to help hold in the heat at your chin. The draft collar and the hood both have cinch cords you can pull to get the bag fitted nice and snug, so only your nose and eyes are uncovered while the rest of you stays warm in the bag. There are also button snaps at the shoulders, which serve two purposes. First, they prevent the zipper from coming undone during the night. Second, you can snap the shoulders, but then unzip the sides so your arms are free to reach out. That allows you to conserve all your core warmth even if you need to do something while lying in bed. Additionally, the zippers are designed for maximum flexibility. There's a short zipper on the right side — just long enough that you can fold back the cover for easy entry or slip out an arm. There's a long zipper that goes all down the left side and across the bottom of the foot box. That longer zipper can be zipped from both sides, so you can unzip the foot box for more circulation, or just unzip a bit of the side to get your arm free, or both. I love how it lets me adjust the bag for warmth or breathability, depending on the weather. Third, you need to understand the 30°F rating of this bag. The Hamlin is tested using ISO standards, so 30°F is the "Lower Limit" rating. That means it will keep you safe at that temperature. The COMFORT rating is actually 37°F. That means you'll be comfortably warm down to that temperature. All the information is printed clearly on the bag itself, which I appreciate for clarity and transparency. Finally, since Sea to Summit is well known for their high quality dry bags and compression bags, it's no surprise that they provide a great compression bag to store the Hamlin. To my eyes, the product photos look a little extreme in terms of the amount of compression they apply to the bag. I didn't feel comfortably squashing my bag down that much. Nonetheless, it does get pretty compact! The overall quality is very good. The fabric is durable, the stitching is tight. The zippers move easily and resist snagging. There are baffles to prevent the insulation from clumping together in one place. These are the kind of details I've come to trust Sea to Summit will get right. Not only that, but the fabric is bluesign approved, the insulation is recycled, and the whole bag is PFAS-free. To me, the Hamlin straddles the line between a regular camping sleeping bag and a backpacking sleeping bag. Based on size and weight, it's a little more bulky than most backpackers would prefer to take, especially on a long trip. However, it is usable for backpacking. So if you think you might dabble with shorter backpacking trips, this is a pretty cost effective way to get a high quality sleeping bag that will work.

Really Nice Synthetic Bag
A nice bag from a reputable brand that has a lot of the features and small touches you get from someone who has designed sleeping bags before. The 30 degree version is nice to have for warmer weather where a more serious bag will start to feel hot. This also has the ability to unzip your feet and vent that way, also good for warm weather. It packs down quite nice. It's not ultralight, but it's pretty light, and would be workable for backpacking. Price is reasonable considering it's a serious brand with good materials and good design.

15 degree = 27 comfort rating
They don’t say this anywhere on the product page, but on the stuff bag it says the comfort rating. After staying out during a 30 degree night, I would say that is accurate, it was very warm and comfortable at that temp. The material of the sleeping bag and the compression sack seem to be good quality and functional and pretty spacious for a mummy bag. The down side is that the bag doesn’t actually stuff small enough to pack…by a long shot. The pictures show a compression sack as though it can be compressed to the size in the picture, but there are no packed dimensions on the site and it came in a bag that can barely be compressed to 20 in. Imagine the pic of the regular/15 degree, but two stacked up. I definitely use this for camping, but I can’t fit it backpacking.
