Funny film

This is so much fun, in a very adult way. It is set in the 70s and the decadence as a back drop to the bumbling dectectives really adds to telling of this story. The plot revolves around the two PI's being hired to find a lady called Amelia who has become involved with a lot of dodgy adult film people, and this leads to much hilarity involving drunkeness and many scraps. I think the stand out performance here comes from the actress playing Holly March, daughter of Ryan Gosling's Holland March. She is the heart of story as we see her continually being put in harms way and showing incredible bravery as a result of it. What makes this so enjoyable is even through the central characters are so flawed, you still want them to back them due to the brilliant performances of the actors playing them. They mean to be 'nice guys' but real life keeps getting in their way. Also the director Shane Black is so visually gifted, this movie never stays still for very long, and we are able to feast on the luscious backdrop of 21st century Los Angeles, but with the veil of set design to take us back in time. The camera is constantly filling the screen with so much detail that being bored is not an option. The dialouge is snappy and not for the feint hearted. If this was a novel I would definitley describe it as a page turner because despite all the nonsense and incredularity going on you do want to know what this is all about. I really hope this leads to a sequel and we get to see even nicer guys.

The strongest elements of this film were the two leads and how they played off each other: both deliver good performances. However, I found the story unconvincing and downright stupid even within the context it was supposed to be a comedy. The key role of Ryan Gosling's daughter was a major misfire I thought as it went from preposterous to cringe-worthy and morally dubious. I thought the story-line went to pot towards the end. Overall, this was not nearly as good as I hoped and thought it was cleverer and funnier than it actually was. Rented from LoveFilm.

You will laugh a few times , mostly in the second half since the first half seems it tries too hard. You will wonder where Maximus Decimus Meridius went too, he's been replaced by Sir Les Patterson

3,4 Sterne? Vermutlich nur, weil viele hier hier ein CGI-Dauergewitter und ein typischer Hollywood-Einheitsbrei erwartet wird. Der hier vorliegenden Film unterscheidet sich in allen Belangen von dem, was heutzutage in maßloser Übertreibung auf die Leinwand projiziert wird. Zugegeben: Auch der Einheitsbrei kann interessant und gut gemacht sein, aber das ist für mich eben absolut überhaupt kein Grund, anderen Filmen keine Chance zu geben. The Nice Guys hat mich im kompletten Verlauf dauerhaft wunderbar unterhalten. Viele Dinge passieren in kleinen Nebensätzen. Ich wurde oft an Kiss Kiss Bang Bang erinnert. Hier hat man eine leicht verstrickte Geschichte, die aber zu keinen Zeitpunkt übertrieben verworren daherkommt. Im Mittelpunkt der Geschichte stehen zwei absolut sympathische Hauptcharaktere, die eben nicht maßlos überzeichnet sind. Die Witze sind sehr gut dosiert und wirkend zu keiner Zeit komplett unter der Gürtellinie. Der ein oder andere Witze ist auch mal etwas untergegangen, was aber auch immer ab der deutschen Synchronisation liegen kann. Werde mir den Film bei Zeiten auch mal im englischen Originalton anschauen. Mal sehen, was da noch alles entdeckt werden kann. Ansonsten eine richtig gute, trockene Erzählweise, die mich immer wieder an wirklich gut gemachte Filme aus den 90ern erinnert. Zum Ton und Bild der Blu-ray kann man sagen, dass er den Film so darstellt, wie er eben wirken soll. Die Tonspur wirkt allgemein zurückhaltend, aber daher umso kraftvoller, wenn der Film actionreicher wird. Das Bild ist - was ich als passend und positiv empfinde - im Vergleich zu heutzutage meist übermäßig kontrastierten Filmen eher zurückhaltender und damit natürlicher. Meiner Meinung nach völlig verdiente 5 Sterne. Update #1: Jetzt weiß ich auch, warum der Film mich immer weder an Kiss Kiss Bang Bang erinnert hat: Selber Regisseur. Selbe Machart. Selbe positive Wirkung auf mich. Wunderbar. :)

A joyful dark comedy movie

Génial ! Une comédie policière hilarante ! Nice guys, tout est dans le titre ...et deux acteurs fantastiques. + une bande son top !
