โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ Brilliant all-rounder laptop โ Lightweight, powerful, and ready for anything
I recently got the 2025 13-inch MacBook Air with the M4 chip, and it has easily become my go-to machine โ whether Iโm writing essays, editing photos, coding, or watching films, it handles everything beautifully. ๐ Performance & Smoothness The new M4 chip is impressively fast and efficient: apps open instantly, multitasking feels seamless, and even heavier workloads (video editing, photo edits, multiple tabs + dev tools) run smoothly without noticeable lag. The unified memory and upgraded graphics make a big difference compared with previous generations. ๐ป Display & Media Quality The 13.6-inch Liquid Retina display is sharp and color-rich (P3 wide gamut, โbillion-colourโ support), which makes it excellent for creative work โ painting up digital layouts for your scenography course, reviewing art history slides, or just watching movies. The brightness and color accuracy really stand out. ๐ Portability & Design It remains extremely slim and lightweight (about 1.24 kg) โ perfect for carrying between home, uni, libraries, coffee shops, or studios. The build quality is top-tier: sleek aluminium body, clean minimal design, and a pleasant โprofessional but lightโ feel. ๐ Battery Life & Everyday Use Battery easily lasts all day โ you wonโt have to worry about sockets if youโre moving around campus or libraries. It also wakes fast, resumes instantly โ nice for quick tasks between classes or on-the-go work. ๐ Extras & Everyday Convenience โข New built-in webcam (12 MP, Center Stage) and good mic / speakers make video calls, online classes, and remote meetings very pleasant. โข Solid compatibility with macOS and creative tools/office software โ ideal for your mix of art, scenography, thesis writing, coding and design work. โ ๏ธ Minor Considerations โข Like all โall-in-oneโ thin laptops, under very heavy load or long video editing/export sessions, performance may not match that of a full-blown desktop workstation (though for most student / creative workflows itโs more than enough). โข Storage on base-model (e.g. 256 GB or 512 GB SSD) can fill up fast if you handle many large art files, video resources, or heavy project folders โ so you might want to consider configuration with larger storage if you deal with big media. ๐ฏ Verdict: For a student like you โ involved in scenography, art-history studying, creative projects, coding and occasional travel โ this 2025 MacBook Air 13โณ hits a near-perfect balance. Itโs portable and light for daily carry, powerful enough for design work and coding, with a great display for visual tasks, and reliability for years to come. Highly recommended if you want one laptop that covers almost everything.

Absolutely fantastic - blows a higher spec Windows laptop out of the water!
I've used Macs since approx 2015 and Windows since around 1994. Over the years I've had a variety of machines, however from 2015 I almost exclusively used Macs. At the end of 2024 I bought a Windows laptop to replace an ageing Macbook Air and wondered if things had moved on. Well, I can safely say no they haven't and I went back to using this particular Macbook. All I can say is the performance is incredible. It literally boots up to a usable state in seconds. Everything is slick and responsive. The hardware has a lovely high quality feel, which just seems to improve with every iteration (i.e. it's better than my 2015 Macbook Air). The Display is lovely. Hooked up to an external monitor using a separate USB-C to HDMI connector and a bluetooth keyboard/mouse, and you've got yourself a professional workstation. On paper my Windows laptop was a higher spec. But the performance was dire and it had all sorts of annoyances like popups and general usability issues that Apple have ironed out. As an iPhone 16 user this laptop works very well with that and connects easily to Wifi/a wireless printer. I managed to get this at 11% discount. However, I genuinley feel had I paid the full asking price it would still have been worth the money. I fully expect this to last 5+ years like my last Macbook did. For the money I defy anyone to find a better spec machine. It certainly beats the Macbook Neo and is well worth the extra if you're considering that.

A big step up in power and performance โ the best MacBook Air Iโve owned
Upgrading to the 2025 MacBook Air with the M4 chip has been a noticeable leap forward. Coming from the MacBook Air M1, I can clearly see the difference in both power and overall responsiveness. Apps open faster, multitasking feels smoother, and heavier tasks like video editing and photo work run far more efficiently. The M4 chip really does make the Air feel like a much more capable machine. The 13.6โinch display is bright, sharp, and great for everyday use, with excellent colour and clarity. Battery life remains one of Appleโs strongest points โ it easily gets me through a full day without worrying about charging. The build quality is exactly what youโd expect: lightweight, solid, and premium. What stands out most is how effortlessly it handles modern workflows. Whether Iโm editing videos, working with multiple apps, or streaming, everything feels quicker and more fluid than on my old M1. Itโs still silent, still cool, and still incredibly portable. Overall, this is a fantastic upgrade. If youโre coming from an older MacBook Air, especially the M1, the jump in performance is immediately noticeable and absolutely worth it.

Best laptop on the market, wish I'd bought sooner
This is a fantastic laptop and for the price is a bargain. Battery life is incredible, very thin and light with good build quality, and the screen is great quality as you would expect with Apple Products. The M4 chip has run cool so far and has handled everything quickly. Having used MacBook Pro's for work, the screen on the Pro variants has 120hz so seem smoother and the brightness is more, but not worth the extra ยฃ500+. The benefit of the Air variant is how slim and light it and is definitely noticeable and for my use cases I prefer that over the heaviness of the Pro models. The Sky Blue colour is really nice, depending on the light it comes across as silver, but the subtle blue is great for someone like me who doesn't like standout colours. If you are looking for the best all round laptop on the market, and you are invested in the Apple ecosystem with iPhone, iPad etc I cannot recommend this enough. If anything wish I had bought it sooner.

The best value premium laptop available
This replaced an older style MacBook M1 Air which was given to our daughter-in-law for her nursing course. In daily use, there's not a massive difference between them except in feel and style; the screen is brighter and a little sharper, too. Everything about a MacBook is superb in look, feel and use. My cousin just bought a ยฃ750 Windows laptop - put beside this Mac, that one seems so cheap and plasticky in comparison. Apple are a bit pricier but for style, manufacturing and durability cannot be matched. Lift the lid on this one and it opens smoothly - as it should; do that on the Windows laptop, and the whole device lifts up, not just the lid, needing two hands just to open it. The new Air shape really is, surprisingly, a whole lot slimmer, lighter and more modern looking, even though the differences are of course not that great at all. This is simply a brilliant laptop.

Best laptop I have ever owned
Needed a new laptop, and after decades of various brands, decided to go with a Appe MacBook. I am far from the world's most computer savvy person, but even I was shocked with how fast and simple this was to set up. Was a little bit smaller than I expected, but that is maybe a good thing as its nice and compact so can be stored away. Battery life is amazing, as I was expecting something like a Iphone or Ipad where it would need charged on a hourly basis, and yet gone a full week without needing charge it. Some great security features and the connection to wifi is really good (even off my mobile hot-spot you still get a fantastic connection). Really impressed and can highly recommend.

Amazing, must be witchcraft
Slim, powerful and very well built. This is my first macbook an from someone who has always been a Windows fan boy I hate to say but this thing is amazing. From the moment you unbox it you just feel like you have something special. It was surprisingly heavy for being so slim . Passed the one finger open test and just turned on when I opened the lid. Set up was a shock. I had my ipad next to me and it asked if I wanted to set up using the ipad. Confused I hit yes and then like magic it was set up. It wasn't even connected to WiFi yet but with a press on the ipad the laptop was connected, passwords ported over and ready to go. Coming from the painful set up on windows this was like witchcraft. The display is just stunning. Crisp and the colours are incredible. Then the speakers. How can they fit that sound into something so slim? Oh and the laptop is totally silent. I'm used to a jet engine on any laptop after a few mins. It's taking a while to get used to the differences in os but for what I'm using it for (djing) it's been quite intuitive. And the battery can get me through a full 6 hour set with loads to spare. I've resisted the apple ecosystem for so long but things like this are very corrupting.

Good, but not for games and a bit pricey
Great bit of kit, does what it says. BUT do not buy this for gaming, the processors are not designed for games. A high price, but it's Apple, so it's bound to be over-priced in my opinion. But if you-re into a great bit of kit, very slim and lightweight for everyday tasks and you're an Apple person, it's good.

The everyday laptop to beat!
Let me get my biggest gripe out of the way right at the start: I will NEVER forgive Apple for killing the characteristic wedge shape of the MacBook Air! Now that got that off of my chest, let's talk about this particular MacBook. I got it to replace a refurbished 2017 MacBook Pro with Touch Bar that I'd gotten in 2019 and that was beginning to show its age. The differences are astounding, as you would expect given the eight years that have passed since. The MacBook Air is an absolute featherweight, while at the same time feeling rock solid. I went for the midnight colour way since that was the cheapest one available during the recent Prime Day sale, and it's surprising just how much of a chameleon the machine is in this colour. The display is just amazing, crisp, with gorgeous colours. The rest of the hardware doesn't disappoint either, the keyboard is great, although it is taking me some time to get used to the trackpad. If there's anything here to criticise, it's the fact that the machine only has two Thunderbolt 4 ports, all on the left side of the device. I use hardware passkeys for authentication, and with only two of those ports, things get tight rather quickly. That being said, charging once again works via MagSafe, which somewhat defuses the port situation. Let's talk internals. This is obviously the M4 version of the MacBook Air, and while it still only sports 256 GB of SSD storage, the machine also has 16GB of RAM. And folks, this thing flies! I have yet to really max things out, but even the few quick things I did in Adobe Photoshop worked like a dream. I've never seen that program work so smoothly! Other programs are equally snappy, although I did encounter a few stutters in Notion. Then again, it's Notion, a tool not necessarily known for being well-designed! In either case, the machine barely even got warm, despite the fact that it's a fanless design. Finally, let's talk battery. Except I can't. Okay, I haven't had the machine for that long, and I haven't been too mobile yet, which is what the MacBook is really designed for, but so far, I've yet to get the battery below 50%. Even on my busiest day, with me being on the go from 10 AM to 6 PM and plenty of Lightroom and Photoshop, I wasn't able to do so. Apple's promise of all-day battery life really seems to hold here. All in all, this is an excellent allrounder, a machine that is powerful enough even for more demanding tasks, whilst at the same time being lightweight enough to easily slip into a backpack and with enough staying power to last throughout an entire day. If you're in the market for a new laptop, and MacBooks are something for you, I can wholeheartedly recommend this. Even the dearth of ports and the lack of the traditional wedge shape of older MacBook Air generations isn't enough for me to take away even one star!
