With easy-to-understand instructions and step-by-step photos, Pom Pom Animals teaches you how to make these whimsical and charming furry faces. Included are plans to create bears, rabbits, sheep, cats, dogs, squirrels, birds, hedgehogs, sloths, and more--over 40 different kinds of cute and delightful animals that are sure to put a smile on everyone’s face! Review: Instructions are perfectly thought out. - This book is a fantastic learning tool to make the most adorable critters! The key is to get 100% wool yarn and a felting needle along with your pom pom maker. The step-by-step instructions were better than any other set of instructions I’ve read on making pom-pom animals. And believe me when I say I have read many many tutorials on how to make them. Inevitably, some step is left out and you’re left with a misshapen mess of an animal. Because the author takes great care to not only describe in text each step she also takes photos at multiple angles and provides line drawings and technical diagrams. You would think that that would feel overwhelming but it really doesn’t. It’s just really complete and because of how thoughtful she was and putting this together, you’re assured greater success in the outcome. This is my first foray into needle felting and I am hooked. It’s so interesting how a little bit of roving can transform a little pom-pom head into something with real personality. While I am up decently advanced crafter, I firmly believe that adult beginners or intermediate crafters would have no problem reading through the instructions and being able to do this themselves. I don’t think this is for children however because of the felting needle aspect. But, with that said my Montessori kid who is 3 1/2 asked to poke the felting needle a few times and he did so safely. But, he was always under heavy supervision and it’ll be a very very long time before he can use it on his own. In any event, this is a craft that you can share with your kids, sell or enjoy yourself. I highly recommend this book! I’ll include some photos of my first attempts. I’ve gotten a little more advanced since these but at least you can see what to expect out of your first few attempts in this book. Note that I did not convert any of these to brooches like the author recommends. After seeing these, my husband was really impressed by how much personality was in them but he made the funny remark, “are you going to make their bodies?” Nope, I’m not. Maybe in the next book the author can give us some bodies to unite with these heads! Haha Review: 5 stars, even a novice like me can do it! - I am Not a crafty person, but these things are just so cute I had to give it a shot. My first time ever in a yarn store and needle felting but even I could do it! I think they came out really cute for my first attempt! I just wish more craft stores carried more neutral colored yarn but I did have luck at specialty yarn stores. Love this book so much, directions are super clear and you will get better with practice! Suitable for a total beginner!

Pompoms out of the ordinary
I tried a couple weeks ago the basic bear without any success. It was my fault ad I used acrilyc yarn instead of wool. Even alpaca didn't felt well. Be aware that it had to be pure wool or you won't get the desired result. Bought pure wool and the magic happened. The bear is beautiful, my bunny needs a little work but overall, they look pretty good. The author also demonstrates some of her designs on YouTube if case you need help. The must have: Felting equipment Pure wool. Patience Can be costly

Great Inspiration
The book is well put together. It has a great selection of adorable animals to create. The instructions include pictures at each step, and I really enjoyed using the book to learn new techniques. I would definitely recommend this for beginners, but it also would be nice for someone looking for new ideas with instructions.

This book is fantastic.
I was so excited when Pom Pom Animals arrived. It is beautifully illustrated with vivid photos. This would make a great coffee table book if you had no plans to be creative yourself. The instructions are clear and very easy to follow. My daughter (7) and I have really enjoyed deciding which ones we will make first. We have pom pom making experience, but this will take it to another level. I would recommend this book to anyone that like "adorable".

Excellent book!
This was my first foray into making pom animals, this book is excellent, it shows you how to make the animals in detail with step by step instructions and good color photos. It tells you which type of wool to use, the pom maker size, eye size etc for each animal and how many times to wind the yarn and in what areas of the pom maker. I know there are lots of tutorials online but if your old school like me and like actually reading a page and being able to study it without having to mess with a tablet then this book is highly recommended.

Absorbing!
Beautifully laid out. The illustrations in the directions could be a little larger for my eyesight. My biggest problem is that I have to substitute most of the wools and other materials as they are all sourced from Japan. My completed animals are not all exactly as pictured. Everyone loves the results, though, and I am completely hooked!
