Unfreakingbelievae. Must must must have for any guitarist at any level.
This is one of those products like the Walkman, the iPhone, the Tesla that redefines a whole experience. For my birthday I got this most amazing guitar breakthrough ever. It's a micro amp that can run even on batteries. It weighs 5lbs. It provides a wireless adapter too. It sounds unbelievable for such a small amp. Really amazing sounds. It has the full boss effects rack built in. It has everyone of you favorite amp styles. It's stereo 30W. Loud! You can take it anywhere. It's an amazingly clean and great Bluetooth boom box for your phone too. Your partner will at least dig that! It can output speaker sim direct into PA. It's unbelievably good. You must try it. It's not cheap but I tell you it's a bargain at $400. Boss Katana Air. I can take it anywhere - it only 11" x6"x5". You've have to try one. Walking around the house it connects with zero latency. Amazing freedom. Amazing sound. Amazing feeling. Amazing. Amazing. 10stars.

Inctedibly versatile little unit.
Its small. It's light weight. It's not heavy duty by any means but its very functional. I LOVE the wireless transmitter and sleep/wake function. I love that it has 2 channels with three presets so you can flip between tones with a button press or double tap. A foot controller would defeat the function of this amp. Its got a great bank of all of Boss's fx pedals. Its loud enough to practice or use as a sound system for music which it connects to any blue tooth device. The wireless transmitters has a lot of range. It picks up the signal anywhere in my house. The way its designed is perfect for what its designed to do. I wanna play my guitar, I pick it up, strum a chord and with in seconds the sound is coming out of my Boss Katana. I take it camping to use as a boombox and a guitar amp for my metal camp fire songs. The tones are sweet and very tweakable. You'll find a tone you love in this amp with a little tinkering. My only gripe is this amp is kinda pricey for a practice amp but if thats all it was then that would be a different story. This amp does so much more than just any other practice amp. I also had a tough time with the app at first but once its set up its a set and foeget type that works very well. I dont blame the app. Im just a ludite and tech thing's arent always intuitive or obvious to me. Cant recommend this amp enough.

Three uses in one package
This thing is incredibly useful. Very compact and packs some great tone in it for the size. Held its own in a jam session with a friend playing a 50w 1x10. My friends were amazed. The wireless is an added bonus. I love using the Bluetooth to pull up back tracks and jam along. Because of this little guy I have really found myself playing more often since it’s so convenient. Really appreciate That this thing can also be used as an interface and a Bluetooth speaker. It sounds good at low volumes and once you get used to the app interface it opens up a lot of exploration. The built in tuner is nice. For the price I got a reasonably loud Bluetooth speaker, guitar interface, and portable true wireless amp. I use this more often than my other amps by far. I would not buy this as my first or only amp as it’s not loud enough for say a jam with drums/band.

The main gimmick is where it fails.
Great idea but the execution is a complete failure. The amp itself is convenient and small. The sound quality is okay but you'll sound better over a small Bose wireless bluetooth for less. (Assuming you already have an iPad with an app with good tones.) A Bose is rechargeable as well. This thing takes AA batteries. The main buying point for this amp though was for the wireless connection, which is okay but it fails connecting to Bluetooth Midi on two Android devices I tested with. This means all of the patch settings that allow you to do any of the real meaningful tweaks that may improve the sound and make this useful for DAW integration, are not available. Roland support continues to do a poor job at helping a growing list of upset customers complaining in their forum about the same issue. I've asked if there are any plans to send out a software and/or firmware patch but they send everyone the same canned response. If they had admitted the issue and said updates were coming or, if the source code was open so that the development community could lend a hand, I would consider keeping it. But, in the end, the features that justify the price just aren't there and you're left with an overpriced little plastic practice can. This will need be returned as defective.

As the first wireless amplifier for guitars, it definitely hits the mark!
I want to start by saying that this combo wireless amplifier is shaped like a black lunch-box that we took to school, really convenient and portable, measuring just 7.1×13.8×5.7-inches and weighs about four and a half pounds in total, so you can place it anywhere. The top, bottom and the back of the device are covered with black plastic, and the front and sides are covered with the black grille with the Boss logo in the middle. On the top panel, you will find a silver plastic handle to carry the device and the control panel that has a nice set of controls like choosing the amp type that had 5 options consisting of Acoustic, Clean, Crunch, Lead and Brown. Other than that you will find the gain, volume, bass, middle, treble, boost, delay or effects, reverb and master knobs, a bunch of buttons, input ports and a nice port that charges the transmitter that goes on to the guitar. There is also a free downloadable companion app for this amp named Boss Tone Studio that is available for both Android and iOS mobile devices. From the app, you can easily control the effects, tones, store preset modes, and even change the knob functions, just perfect. The device can work with the included batteries that provide 20 watts of power for up to 12 hours, and 30 watts of power when connected to the AC unit. Despite being a very small amp the sound was massive, I was truly impressed with the distortion, gain and just the sheer level of volume. I should not have doubted and should have expected true Katana quality. You can also use the Boss Katana-Air as a sole speaker to play music or something, I tell you this is the most convenient package ever. I found that it delivered excellent tonal shaping and okay sound quality allowing you to express your full arsenal. Don’t mistake this for a beginner package, every user regardless of the level can enjoy the Katana-Air. Pretty much in love with this amp, I recommend this to everyone that enjoys some quick practice sessions with extreme convenience and comfort, however, i wouldn’t recommend this for playing in front of crowds.

It's good, but the price is TOO DAMN HIGH
It's good. It does what it's supposed to do, and does it very well. The wireless guitar connection and instant-on are fantastic. But it simply costs too much. It feels like it should be about $300-$350. One thing to note: if the batteries in the amp get low (down to 1/3rd) you will start to get strange behavior. My guitar would suddenly stop making sound, and I'd see that the transmitter had turned off. I assumed that the battery in the transmitter had died, but when I plugged it in to the amp, it would immediately show fully charged. Turned out the issue was the low batteries. Once plugged into the outlet, I had no other problems. I also have had to real issues with connection to my phone (Fold 3) but I do usually have to manually connect to the MIDI control. So I'm happy enough with it not to send it back, but just barely. If it were about $100 cheaper, I would be overjoyed.

Great amp, but utterly absurd that it comes without the USB cable.
The amp is great, trully portable and resonably sturdy for a "plastic" construction. Sounds pretty good, impressive volume for such a small unit. Wireless works as intended. Lots of effects that can be combined into a whole bunch of tones. Overall its a very good value if you consider everything you get: - Portable battery powered guitar amp that sounds legit; - Wireless receiver/transmiter; - Digital interface to record into your computer; - Whole lot of built in effects; - Bluetooth speaker. Now, there are 2 things they could have done better (thus the 4 star rating): 1 - Add a foot switch to make it confortable to change effects while playing. 2 - ADD THE F***ING USB CABLE NEEDED TO PLUG INTO THE COMPUTER!!! Seriously Roland/Boss, how do you sell a US$ 400,00 unit and don't include the USB cable???

Great toy
It works as is advertised, very easy to use with good sound to pick up your guitar and practice for short periods of time (if you have busy life, but don’t want to stop playing). In addition, you can use it with your mobile device and listen your music too. Very happy with the investment.
