improper water tight fit
the intent of the yellow cover and black collar is to keep dew and rain out as that is why all plugs fail. So the fact that the cover does NOT fit over the plug [and yes I had an electrician check to verify that] it is a problem. The black collar threads to the hull to ensure it is water tight, so I don't know how long this will last before shorting out

Works great, but tough to install
I bought my RV new in 2012. The first plug failed while I was on a trip (of course) and I replaced it. The replacement lasted 10 years, and the threaded locking ring finally broke, so I ordered this guy. Replacing one of these isn't brain surgery, but it isn't exactly fun either. The fit is snug, and for a reason.....to keep water out. That's a good thing...but that makes it a bear to get apart and put back together. Once I got it together, this one connected to the outlet on the RV and the 30 amp outlet on my house perfectly and it with the ring screwed into place it stays put. The overall quality seems really good, and I think it will last a long time. This piece is priced well and is a good value for the money. Very easy to use and connect once it's put together. I deducted a star because I literally couldn't get the screws in that hold the two halves together. The fit was that tight, and I was starting to strip the screw heads and was burning a hole in my palm with the screwdriver. I finally used a correctly sized drill bit and opened the holes up a bit. The screws were a little easier, but still wouldn't go in. I used the next size drill bit and opened the holes a bit more. This time everything went together and held nice and tight. To me this is a bit of a design flaw.....I shouldn't have had to do this to put it together. But it's together and works perfectly. I love a happy ending. I recommend this unit, just be prepared to modify things a bit if necessary.
