So far so good. Is pretty easy to set up. Would have been easier without the cable company monopolizing it's use and setup. I like that it offers 5g and 2.4 separately allowing the use of 2 separate passwords and not having to change setting when trying to connect items to internet. I like it being one unit in one taking up less space. It has a nice appearance without a bunch of flashing lights. I've had this about a month it seems stable. The only thing I don't like is it seems to take a long time to boot up. When using it's stable no lagging no matter how many items in use fast and reliable.

Arris G18: it’s noticeably faster and robust compared to my old one (which was a dinosaur though). Basically doubled my speeds. Set-up fairly smooth/easy; didn’t have to call Xfinity once and entirely connected using “new equipment” steps online. My HP printer is old, 2.5mbps, and wasn’t obvious at all how to connect to the new network. Done through Arris URL, settings where it “finds” the printer and I easily added it to the network - worked perfectly, problem is it’s not obvious how to do it. Also very pleased to purchase for $60, Amazon “like new” and save on Xfinity rental fee.

Atrocious tech support. Did not work out of the box. Confusing apps and website that do not function. Hours spent trying to setup with poor tech support. Don't buy.

it works as well as a basic modem router combo should, if you are looking to do multiplayer gaming, i'd recommend doing the G20 version at least for the increased upload speed. But if your doing general internet use and singleplayer experiences, this will work. You will be required to make use of a phone app, SURFboard. And the app is a bit weird at first, and really i would give this product 4 stars if the app was specific to this modem cause there's a setting allowing you to combine blah blah and blah blah and until you switch this on you will feel like your just making passwords for nothing. Your ISP, for me was Spectrum, may also offer a free cell phone and cell phone service as part of the internet service.

Had days of problems with this unit and spectrum service, after hours of calls and tech visits as a last resort I tries a different power supply. This solved all the issues instantly. The unit came with a power supply for 12v 3amp. The unit itself says 12v 2amp. Once I had a new 2 amp power supply and factory reset everything worked perfectly. In theory a 12 v 3 amp should work and it did power it and lit up and connected. I can only surmise that they are super sensitive to the exact power supply. Just be aware. Other than that I can say everything is working perfectly. Once issues resolved the unit was easy to install and meets all tech expectations.

Bought this to sidestep the rental requirement that my ISP starts after the first year. Footprint was the same as the unit they provided, and installation was absolutely no headache. Operation has been flawless for the ~year it's been in place. Updates itself seamlessly, comes back online quickly with our occasional power and network outages, and feeds everything in the house with no drama - computer, laptop, smart tv, both our phones when home, and a raspberry-pi. Range is no issue. The r-pi is 80' and several rooms away out in the garage, and I can walk out to the mailbox on a Teams call with no dropout.

This is great replacement for my older motorola surfboard modem/router combo that I got back in 2011 to use with spectrum. It was older docsis 3.0 and needed to be replaced. Also easy to call cable company and have them enable it. The gateway menu options are similar and easy to navigate and wireless network setup is easy. The firewall now allows for other devices on my network that require other (different) ports. Before I had to keep setting on low (all ports opened) but now I can keep on medium for more safer network. Works great with 1gb network ports with cat 6 and wifi 1gb (current ISP is about 400gb). No issues with it so far. Love it!

I purchased January 4, 2026 and it was working fine until about 2 months ago. I am constantly rebooting the modem. It would lose connection, I reboot, it works. Now the modem is staying powered on but its not connecting to the internet service consistently and does this like twice a day.
