Do they have to be on that base thing?

I think you could probably use the items that come in the kit on your own thing. We had some of the stuff left over and we've used it on other school projects.

Can you make a waterfall with this kit? / How to make a waterfall?

Yes you can. Go to their site they do have lots of info, including how to make a waterfall.

What exact items come with this kit? I can't find a description of what it includes.

It includes the glue and the mixing kit and paints, water and rocks. You provide the newspaper and base to build it on

Does it come with the stuff to make the water?

Yes the set includes everything except for the base. Which you can use a cardboard box as a base. Don’t fall for the overpriced glorified base on here or at a crafters store
