Just what I needed
This metronome is just what I needed. First, it's a great size - small enough to carry in my pocket, my briefcase or my gig bag, yet large enough to see easily and use. I can't stand a "beep" sound. This has a very crisp wooden block sound, which is loud enough to hear over the piano but not distracting. The earphone is a very handy option. I often use it late at night playing my dulcimer, or piano practice when others in the house are already dealing with me struggling through scales and don't want to hear the steady 'tock' - often not in sync with anything! The earphone sound is appropriately quiet. Another larger and more expensive metronome I purchased for my daughter has a dial the same size as this one, but is difficult to set and nearly impossible to read. This dial is very easy to set with the large knob and very easily readable for my senior eyes. Last, I didn't have much money for a new metronome and this one is priced right. Overall, this is a great metronome and I couldn't be happier with my selection!

a solid, no-nonsense metronome.
Just a basic and very loud metronome. Comes with a little earpiece for one ear. Very loud and excellent for any instrument (maybe not for a harp, lol). Just the basics. A dial lets you set the tempo (1/4 notes go to 208 BPM). Includes a nice stop on the dial for a pure 440 tone for tuning. Has an earphone jack and an on/off switch. can be set to just keep time with a flashing red LED and no sound. Has a little lean-to wire stand built in. A great, compact, little metronome for any musician.

Works first time, every time.
No bells, no whistles, no volume control (it's fairly loud --some may want to lay it face down on a pillow, although the volume is just right for me). This metronome by Wittner does exactly what a metronome is supposed to do, and it's simple to use -- just turn the dial directly to the beats-per-minute you want. At first I thought it unwise to order such a low priced item (relative to some of the other metronomes), thinking instead I should pay more for some other brand in hopes of getting something more likely to "keep on working" (like the Ever-ready bunny). I'm very glad, however, that I went with this Wittner. It seems very well made, has little if anything to quit working because of only one (manually controlled) moving part (the dial) -- other than the metal leg that handily lifts out to act as a stand on which to tilt the metronome back at about a 50 degree angle. The blinking light on the face of the instrument, however, is as another reviewer mentioned -- too dim to be of much use unless you are nearby and looking right at it. As far as rating the Wittner, I give the unit four stars only, not because of the not-so-bright light, but because the sound the metronome emits is similar to that of two wooden blocks "clacking" together, and I would have preferred the "clicking" sound of the old metronomes of the past with which I was familiar as a young boy when I started out on the piano fifty years ago. Otherwise, it seems to be a five star item.

Good product...what I'd expect from Wittner
Nothing bad to say about this product for what it cost. If I'd paid more, I would have expected more features, but for the price, this is a great little portable metronome. The earplug was functional, but if you want something better, use some earbuds from an iPod or equivalent. I do like the dial models like this, and the only thing I can see where it comes up short is the dim red blinking light. It works fine, but seems like a waste and not too practical. Otherwise, a good sound product at a good price.

This metronome does not have all of the confusing options found in some. It does not give an accented beat, for example. I does have: an earphone port, so you can not bother the people around you; its own stand; an easily-turned dial; clearly-marked speeds and tempo markings (i.e., "Presto"). The sound is my favorite part, and all of my students and their parents agree: it does not sound tinny or electronic. It sounds like wood, like the old-fashioned obelisk-shaped metronomes. I have reordered these several times for my students, and as long as they are available I will continue to order them.

Excellent metronome
I've worn out three pendulum metronomes in the past 30 years, and never wanted anything to do with a battery powered one, but have noticed on my last wind up one that the meter was a little off, a bit reminiscent of a heart beat rather than a perfect interval between beats. This is probably not something someone with an untrained ear would pick up on, but once I heard it, I couldn't unhear it. This new quartz metronome has an even interval and sounds (volume and tone) like the pendulum metronomes. The light is not an issue for me as I am too busy looking at the music to spare a glance at the metronome. It is very simple to use, which is definitely an issue for me. I am very pleased with this purchase.

Very helpful device
My 10 yr old son has recently gotten in to piano and his instructor recommended a metronome. We found this one for a fair price and it gets the job done. Easy to hear while playing to keep the beat. He is really glad we have this to help him improve his playing.

No. This is way too bloody loud
Jesus. My ears are still ringing and my head is pounding. I’m actually physically ill to my stomach from whatever nerve in my inner ear this thing triggered. I’m stunned that this didn’t come with a warning. This is not hyperbole or me being colorful. I’m literally experiencing tinnitus so painful that I’m sick to my stomach. I’ll explain. Through the pain. I’d read the reviews and understood it was loud, but a piano teacher review said she just has her students put a bandaid over it, so I thought, “no big deal - I’ve only got 40% of my hearing remaining, so, yeah - I can just muffle it if it’s still a problem.” No. Do NOT think you can just muffle it. Did I mention my hearing loss is so bad that I actually got hearing aids in my 30s? I turned this thing on for maybe 10 beats at 60 and it was like someone was banging a gong INSIDE my ear drum. It was a physical PAIN. Still, because I’m apparently cheap AND stupid, I persisted with the thought I could muffle it. So I covered it with duct tape. Tried it again. NO. Under a pillow. Nope. Under a beanbag chair? No. Inside a neoprene GPs box? Nothing. Nothing I could fo would deaden the mind-numbing sensation noise after multiple tries. And that’s when I realized the pain wasn’t stopping. It’s been 30 minutes now, and it’s excruciating. This thing is unsafe. I mean it. And it is going back, regardless of the hassle. This is so wrong.

Excelente metronomo

Reliable and efficient! Best metronome ever!
My parents first bought me this metronome in 2006. It got me through 20 years of practice and a music degree, and it’s still working. I only bought another one so I could keep it in my bag. Has a nice tone and is extremely easy to use. I know many other teachers and professional musicians who also call this their metronome of choice. You really don’t need all the weird bells and whistles that other metronomes have. Just buy this one.

Metronomo
Sono soddisfattissimo dell acquisto perché per la prima volta riesco a sentire bene il tic del metronomo quando suono. Certo potrebbe essere anche un difetto se si usa durante un esibizione perché molto forte
