Why does it have a hole in the end of burner which connects to the regulator - Looks like propane will escape thru that hole.

Th hole acts as a ventury to mix air with the propane. It won't leak out do to the gas is under pressure. The draw of the pressured gas literally pulls the air in to make a combustible mixture in the grill.

It wont turn off. i push the knob down and turn it, but it doesn't stop. i have to remove the tank. can i replace the knob?

The knob has to pop out to turn off the the gas

Why can't i light the grill? i followed the instructions? i bought it in april but didn't open it till october for emergency coking.

We had problems but mainly our problem was with the propane bottle. If we had it to do all over again we would have bought a better one not to say it wouldn't have problems. Was not really happy with this purchase.

How do I connect the ground wire? From where to where? The manual didn't show how very well.

On mine the red wire is ground, connect to any of the Phillips screws on the tube by the burner opening.
