It's everywhere, and it's telling entire generations of people how to travel the world.' - Fairfax Media (Australia) Review: Great guide, very thorough and well written. - One of the things I love about lonely planet guide books is that they write their books for the independent traveler and by that I mean the guides are very thorough and they always say at least a little about everything and cover bigger things in even greater detail. I like the way they recommend top sights, restaurants, and hotels. All in all, very well rounded guide books with lots of the little details necessary for independent travel. I have traveled to over 70 countries and use them almost exclusively. Review: Great travel book - Just went on a month-long trip to Egypt on June 2019 and despite this book being last updated on 2018, it had great and up to date content regarding places, attractions and things to do. I have pretty much being building a collection of all the Lonely Planets I have bought, I have no been disappointed.

An okay guide and the only current one on Egypt, so...
Overall, this is an okay guidebook, although it seems aimed at more of a budget traveler than I am, apparently. Gave it four stars because the section on Cairo is confusing and because it often describes sites that are closed to the public (why include them in such detail if you can't go to them??). It's the only current guidebook on the market, but I wish Fodor's and Frommer's would update theirs so that it isn't. (Still much better than DK, though, which is only pretty pictures and contains none of the information you really need to plan a trip.)

Spot on information!
I bought this book for travel to Egypt with my family as we did not book through a travel agent. I read quite a lot of the book before traveling and it helped plan our trip! It was also our travel guide as we made our way around Egypt. The information in the book is accurate and very helpful.

Buy the actual book, not the ebook
I originally bought this as an ebook which was a horrible idea. It is not easy to flip back and forth to look at maps and piece together information in an ebook. So I purchased a soft copy of the book and I am now satisfied. So much better to have the actual book in your hand to mark pages and find information quickly.

Excellent information, very well written, Never a disapointment.
I love the lonley planet books. They are well though out, clear to understand, make sense, great pictures, and most of all accurate information. Best book out there, by far. This has helped me plan my vacation at Christmas. Must have!

Very useful guide book.
We are planning a trip to Egypt in March of 2019. This books answers so many practical questions that we had. Money exchange, phone SIM cards , appropriate clothing, etc. It also has many color illustrations that make us anxious to get started on our adventure. We have traveled to many European countries and Lonely Planet has never let us down!

Superb guide + update hours plz
This book was very helpful for dining and navigating Giza. Just wish the Egyptian museum hours were accurate because the book says they close at 7pm and when we arrived at 4pm, we only had 1 hour to zoom through the mummies because they actually close at 5pm!

Lonely planet are best guides
Most of the prices from 2018 are not relevant anymore, apart from that as always great Lonely Plant is best in terms of guide books.

Great travel companion for Egypt
Probably a must have for someone who is planning on visiting Egypt. The book goes into great detail in describing the places to visit, what to eat, where to stay etc along with detailed maps of most of the cities. Highly recommended.
